Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

The biggest myth ever peddled in the Met world must be that a wet ground means that snow cannot stick. If the snow is heavy enough it will accumulate regardless, might take a bit of time to bring the surface temp down but it will happen quick.

  • Registered Users Posts: 209 ✭✭SophieLockhart

wtf?? an inch of rain, temp dropped 5c in a hour and now lying snow. Mid-limerick

Just goes to show all the highly pessimistic naysayers that it’s not the end of cold or snow this winter.

How long has it been snowing there and what is your elevation?

The latest icon is a downgrade for most. Though the snowline is off for the SW of the island. So who knows.

Temperature here in Dublin looks set to plunge almost 10c between 2 am and 6 am with some precip still to go at that point so could sneak a few flakes here later. I am eyeing up the bed though :(

How dare you Kermit. Don't ever ever show such weakness in public again.

You can sleep all day tomorrow.

I can't honestly say when it started but it was still lashing rain around 10.30. We're around 70m I think.

The models originally had this changeover for 2am here, it's two hours early. It probably is only an hour and a little away from Dublin.

I will try to keep an eye but will probably be gone by 2am.

Yeah, where are these people now:pac:

I meant the chance of deep cold is likely over now, given the recovery of the PV, not that we have seen the last of snow. I am well aware we often get snow in March. I remember one year we had snow at the very end of April.

Stuck my nose outside and the chill is encroaching across the land. Down 3c in twenty minutes. Still a way to go to get to snow territory yet.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 2,254 ✭✭✭Nqp15hhu

The temp is continuing to rise here. Needs to be about 1.5c for snow.

Not convinced we will reach that. The extreme change looks to be 200 miles further south.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,780 ✭✭✭✭ninebeanrows

snow territory around east Limerick now, N24 Pallas Green

I am watching the cold in North America to see where it heads. I have received decent snow from Canadian sourced cold on more than few occasions.

Been snowing in Tipp Town since about 11. We had very heavy rain earlier in the night. Sticking on cars/grass.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,913 ✭✭✭Danno

    A 6c drop in 59 minutes.

Currently 3.4c with a dewpoint of 2.5c. Getting closer to snow territory. Plenty of 0c and 1c badges out west and to the SW on the WUndermap.

Rainfall in the AWS is now 15.0mm. That's a fair sup.

The cold air doesn’t seem to be coming into Ulster which is odd given the airmass is the same temp.
