Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

If it's a tie, it goes down to boundaries hit. England hit 2

Inclusive of innings and super over

    Fukkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk

This is the most unreal sporting final I think I’ve ever seen. No, I KNOW it is. What skill, entertainment, drama, emotion, incredible twists and turns, hats off to both teams, umpires and sets of supporters.

A match deserving of the final. New Zealand can count themselves unlucky in the final over of normal innings but what a win for England.

    What a game, so tight.

Feel for New Zealand. What a team. When you think that there rugby team are seen as a bit arrogant and cocky, this cricket side doesn't have a bad bone in them.

To lose on boundaries scored is hugely unfair really. A bit like losing a football match because the other team got more corners.

Well done England. Very good tournament and a final for the ages.

Play all day and you lose by a couple of steps. Tough.

Great win. Trumps the 2005 Ashes for England.

Aah... I was wondering why NZ had to beat England's super over score.

If anything New Zealand lost only 8 wickets in their innings and England lost all 10. You could have gone by that.

Ah well, both teams knew the rules ahead of the super over I guess and it is what it is.

Delighted for Eoin. He comes across as a really decent fella. I'm sure it couldn't have been an easy decision for him to commit to England. I'm sure he'd have faced comments on social media at the time.

    Arise Sir Eoin.

They gave Collingwood an MBE for less :pac:

Have to feel for NZ. That was just horrifically bad luck in the last over for Stokes’ “six”.

On the other hand, Stokes basically held that innings together when everyone else crumbled around him.
    And fair play Eoin Morgan.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,473 ✭✭✭Adamcp898

Feel very sorry for NZ though. No idea how they must be feeling. Essentially lost a World Cup due to a one in a million ricochet off a diving bat.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,408 ✭✭✭positron

ZOMG... what a thriller that was!! I feel for Kiwis, that extra boundary with the throw bouncing off the bat... without it it was NZ's to win. They gave it all and luck was with the English. But wow, amazing cricket!!

Collingwood played one test in that series and didn't do much, but he scored nearly 10,000 international runs, I was amazed when I read that. That was a fantastic match.

    Thank Christ for Ben Stokes

    We need more like him

    Where's he from?

    :pac:

On the way it was decided, NZ knew they had to get 16. Anything less they lose

England knew they had to keep them down to 15 or less. Anything more they lose

Whatever though. I've "only" been able to listen on the radio. What a fantastic advert for the sport. Just need them to produce the DVD before I'm back from my travels

That boundary was just amazingly bad luck, it went for four but id be relatively sure that they wouldn’t have ran had it stopped short.

Despite their captain walking away from Ireland, England truly got the luck of the Irish with those 2 sixes in the final 3 overs. Upset isn't the word

It was said during the commentary; they wouldn't have ran if the deflection had been fielded.

Ah I know, it’s just the throwaway comment that’s thrown out about him anytime he’s mentioned. Was even said today again in the buildup to the match.

I would have echoed your comments, until I seen him singing GSTQ this morning.

    He's gone full tan now.

Unreal game of cricket. Like something out of a dodgy movie. Amazing the game was is still a tie after the 50 overs and super over. I would have preferred another super over :pac:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,473 ✭✭✭Adamcp898

Any idea what difference was in number of boundaries scored that won England the match?
