Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Why not just go straight thru the earth - using gravity you'd be there prompto

You know, that actually is the only straight line. The rest are all on the surface of a sphere

Don't watch the remake of Total Recall if you know anything about physics.

There's people fighting outside a vehicle is travelling at over Earth's escape velocity in a place where the pressure would turn gases to solids also it's kinda hot.

And it's not a straight drop either.

If you go north through the Arctic, you can reach New Zealand in a straight line, with north-east Russia the only country you'd have to pass through

Using gravity you'd only be half way there pronto. The other half you'd be working against gravity!
(Since the whole idea is completely bonkers - this post is totally tongue in cheek).;)

Actually your downward velocity would take you the other half of the way almost, unless you were travelling in a vacuum then you could keep going back and forth forever

It would have to be a vacuum as otherwise even gases would be solid under the pressure at the core. Then there'd be the problem of how to maintain a vacuum there.

Or you could look at the maths https://blog.wolframalpha.com/2012/08/13/the-science-of-total-recall/

Dyson is such poor quality that they can't maintain a vacuum at standard pressure

No, I've gone a totally different route, mine skirts just past the west coast of the Faroe Islands, and comes nowhere near Iceland

It's also based on the technicality that the Arctic isn't a country, even though you could count it as 'land' that has to be crossed on-foot

Lads (and lasses), the post mentioned sailing to Australia. You couldn't possibly sail through Earth, there wouldn't be enough water to keep the ship afloat, and probably not enough wind for the sails. Duh.

Also, the remake of Total Recall with Colin Farrell was a disgrace.

Poots, the creationist guy who stabbed her in the back, has had to resign as DUP leader after 21 days because he misjudged the room.
She sent a tweet today that shows she's enjoying it.

They wouldn't be part of the password, but part of the security questions to reset it if "you" "lost" it.

Yeah that's true, when I lose them I just use the reset button and get it reset, anyway I never answer those "bait" questions.

I'm holding my hand up here and going to say this hurts my head. Yer wan replying to Shapiro is obviously being sarcastic. Is Ben Shapiro being sarcastic as well or is he actually giving out that no one said crime should be banned. Is he that dense?

No idea. It doesn't make sense to me either. I assume there is further context here that we don't know about.
    What is bodegas?

The way I read it is, 1. Sam Raskin (wry) ; 2. Ben Shapiro, sarcastically. 3. Fairy Godmother, agreeing with Ben and carrying on in the same tone; 4.adi, completely missing the point.

But maybe I'm the one who's missed the point...

Edited to add: I think 1. meant it as "Hey, look at these politicians pretending to be tough guys and banning completely harmless things, so they can give the impression they're working hard while not doing anything at all. Think Chief Wiggum.

Not sure about the other two, but Evo Morales was a Bolivian politician. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evo_Morales

A bodega is like a corner shop.

Was being a 'conservative political commentator'. Of course, crimes are already illegal. Otherwise they wouldn't be crimes.

To be honest I didn't give the initial Shapiro too much thought as it simply seemed silly. It was the stupidity of. Adi's reply that I thought was funny.

Shapiro is a dope, tbf. This is his take on Cardi B/Megan Thee Stallions' WAP (the lyrics to which he read out on air); "This is what the feminist movement is all about. It's not really about women being treated as independent, full-rounded human beings. It's about wet a-- p-word. And if you say anything differently, it's because you're a misogynist, you see."

He later tweeted that women who actually had a WAP, should seek medical help as his physician wife confirmed to him that it wasn't healthy.
