Bayern have signed ulreich from Stuttgart, guess that means reina getting moved on already. Hardly a clever move for ulreich, clearly won't dislodge neuer.

Reina back to Napoli by the looks of it.

Reina probably told them hes off so Bayern got this guy for the bench. He probably wont stay there long but will most likely earn an excellent wage.

Another real good signing by the Saints, really like Juanmi.

Joselu for 8 mil Euro from Hannover to Stoke is also fix.

Sky: Man City have made a 2nd bid of £40 million for Raheem Sterling.

    Pretty tempting offer you'd imagine

If I were Liverpool I'd hold out for the 50m now. Pretty obvious City are going to meet it. Ridiculous money though.

They might not. They need a homegrown player yes, but it doesnt have to be sterling. If liverpool push too far then they could just go after Kane and then Liverpool are left with a sulky winger that nobody else will pay for.

    Dangerous game.

Hopefully they do it soon so we don't have to constantly listen to this complete and utter bollocks (Sterling's move, not your post :)) all summer.

Levy will want similar money for Kane if City or Utd come in for him.

Any half decent English talent will cost City massively, the fact theyre going after probably the best young English talent will see them pay through the nose.

Not that dangerous when Liverpool don't particularly want to sell. He's probably worth more to us than 40m too, and that really is the absolute limits of his market value, even being English and all.

I'd say it's above and beyond his market value at this stage.

Being young and English only adds so much. From a buyers point of view and taking into consideration the fact that it's obvious he wants to leave Liverpool, I'd have his value at about £27-£30m maximum, so around €40m.

The fact is there are better players available on the continent for €40m so any club who pays €60m+ is conducting very poor business imo.

Being young and English adds a lot more to City than anyone else as they essentially have a home grown player crisis

Like AdamD mentions, those players in the continent aren't really of any use to City as they really do need to go all out and fulfil home grown quotas.

No point either in them signing any old English player and dilute the squad quality, certainly not from Pelligrini's perspective as he'll be fired if they don't improve, so Sterling's value just gets warped in these circumstances.

Only Chelsea or City will realistically pay for him when the fee is already being spoken of around 40m.

I don't get the impression that Liverpool will be unduly bothered if they don't get 50m for him and he's still here next season. They have put a ridiculous value on his head, for valid reasons (if that makes sense) and they're willing to stand by that.

City could always try and lure Pogba, hes counted as HG too, will cost a tad more but their CM options are pretty poor and Toure is pushing on. He should be their main target this summer.

Pogba doesn't count AFAIK. He didn't play enough at United

He'd cost a lot more than Sterling as well.

I think his 3 years with Utd before leaving is enough to qualify him as a HG player.

It has to be a full 36 months. He didn't join Utd until October 09 and left in July 12, so is short by 3 months.

Has Vidal just fcked himself ? Spent the day in a casino, drinking. Tried to drive the Ferrari home and crashed it, Ferrari is a bit of a state but he's seems to be unscathed.

The Chilean cops however are not your standard S. American cops, you can't throw a few quid at them and make it go away. Lucky no one was involved or injured or he would be looking at jail.

Will this be a red flag to the likes of Arsenal? In tournament drinking, driving drunk?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 53,262 ✭✭✭✭GavRedKing

Think hes got a court hearing today and hes expected to be released on bail. No one in Chile will want one of there stars in jail during the hosting of a Copa America. Story goes the players had a night off but had to be home for 11pm.

Luckily nobody was hurt, the Ferrari is a write off but himself and his wife appear to be ok. Hopefully its a lesson not to drink and drive, ever. He'll probably end up getting a hefty fine and banned off the road and or a suspended sentence.

I dont know would it put a big club off, if its likely to be a one off and you'd hope after a scare like that it would be, it will likely never be repeated by Vidal.

I'm not sure either about Chiles drinking driving law, is the alcohol in your system higher or lower than is allowed here for instance? I mean you could have in theory 1 pint and be ok in Ireland, not that I'd condone it of course, but if Vidal was out of his mind drunk though thats a different situation altogether. I'm sure more will come out about it in the coming days.

    This.

City have to buy homegrown players. Every club knows it and can hold a gun to their head.

They need HG players that are also quality players, otherwise they'll just have to go down the route of adding fellas to the squad that cost nothing to just the quota which wont help long term.

I dont think theres any sanctions for having no HG players, not without checking anyway, all I know is you cant have more than 17 foregin players over the age of 21 in the squad, you can register as many U21 foreginers as you want.

There were a bunch of them, Vidal being one of them, suspended or a while for something similar before Sampaioli took over.
I am curious how Sampaioli handles this

Yesterday they had the day off. Not smart getting into an accident though.

As for not getting out of anything with Chilean justice.... Chilean reserve GK Herrera didnt feel too much pain after he killed a girl in a road accident in which he was speeding in 2009.

Hardly a like-for-like at all though. Imagine Dybala will be expected to fill that void instead.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,950 ✭✭✭Pinturicchio

Yeah, in the medium to long term. Next season I'd expect Morata and Mandzukic to be the first choice pairing.

Dybala might even play in the hole behind the front two where Pereyra or sometimes Vidal played this season.

Serious money for a chubby layabout. Hopefully he justifies his pay cheque and does a job for them.

Exactly, Barcelona would never look for 30 million for him so how people are being fooled by this I just dont know.

30 is his release clause I think, which is where the number comes into it. Obviously he would never go for near that amount. 3 does seem cheap though with his age considered and Barca's need for backup for now, with the transfer ban etc.

If only Everton had a Spanish speaking manager they could have avoided this mess. Oh wait...

    That story is bs.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 892 ✭✭✭Just a little Samba

Martinez is nowhere near these negotiations. He's off on his holidays sunning his balls in Costa Del Sol. It's someone from the upper management in a room with Barca's sporting director. Managers have zero input in negotiations.

Big fee IMO. Despite being an excellent goalkeeper, he's 2nd choice at his club and only has 1 year left on his contract.

Not many around better than him though!
