Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Just saw on Facebook a new website called www.leagueofIreland.ie, which will be launching this month. Anyone know anything about it? They have Aaron Callaghan but that's about all I know. It doesn't look like an FAI site.

They have a Facebook and website under a different name, can't for the life of me remember it though.

Do they mean basically positioning the LOI club as the final stage of the development for junior players?

Can you see junior clubs going for that though?

Seems that way, next season it will be U19 and U17. So once players hit U17 level they'll move to their LoIs U17 team and then U19. The following year it will be rolled out to U16 and then U15.

Junior clubs are going for it already. Home Farm supposedly have asked Shels, Joeys asked Bray, Mount Merrion asked UCD and supposedly it's the whole reason Cabinteely are joining the League.

But what exactly is in it for the Junior Clubs? There has to be something other than the FAI kindly asking them to do this, and them being like, 'ah sure Honest John, we owe him a favour'. I wonder what it is.

Dont really have a choice at the moment, between ourselves we have several ex Cherry orchard players who simply had no team to play for once they hit 17/18

Junior clubs joining under 18/19 Elite league to stop that happening help that happen.

Long term it will benefit football in general in Ireland, junior clubs and LoI... if it's done properly!

There needs to be something between U19 and senior LOI though.

The lack of a reserve league is an issue, but there's plenty of low profile cup competitions (LSC, MSC, EA, Setanta) to use for blooding youngsters.

Rory Patterson has joined Australian club Cockburn City apparently.

    Cockburn City Soccer Club
Introducing Cockburn City's new number 9 Rory Patterson. Rory signs from Irish Club Derry City. Rory is an ex professional in the UK with Plymouth Argyle, he has also represented Northern Ireland as a full international 5 times scoring once. Come see Rory in action this Saturday Vs Inglewood at Dalmatinac Park

That's the final nail in the coffin for the Patterson to Dundalk rumours thankfully.

    Heh, Cockburn.

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

That's max a handful of games a year. For clubs who aren't in Munster or Leinster and who don't qualify for the Setanta, that might only be 1 game a year.

Who have Dundalk signed? Replacing hobans goals won't be easy.

There's no senior league or equivalent in Connacht. There's a huge step up from the Galway DL for example to LOI. The ludicrous situation we have where Galway United are barred from having an U19 team, or any underage teams, doesn't help either. Meanwhile Mervue and Salthill's U19 are rooted to the bottom of the league.

I'm not upset in the slightest about Dublin stuff. I'm upset about Galway stuff.

Nobody yet. McMillan has the number 9 jersey this year. Kenny said he's still running the rule over a couple of potential signings but nothing decided yet.

There's the Mayo Association Football League with the likes of Castlebar in it. Weren't they in the A Championship? Westport Utd have won a few honors too. And in Galway DL there's a fair bit of depth league (and population) wise with the likes of Mervue, Salthill, Tuam Celtic and Athenry. I'm sure Roscommon Town, Athone (Rossie side), Boyle and Carrick-on-Shannon could partake also. They could have a provincial set up if they wanted.

There were talks recently about setting up a Connacht league. There was next to no interest from junior teams.

Pre-season going rather well for us under Heary. 3-0 against Waterford.

On this. Former Longford Town manager, Alan Gough, is now managing them. Met him tonight when I stayed to watch their session and chipped in a little.

Exactly. The Munster Senior league is only a glorified Cork thing anyway, it's not a provincial set up in anything but name.

Cyril Guedjo a Togo international was on trial last week.

There was another too ex conference player with issues whose name escapes me, bascially another Danny North, fcuked out of England and we gave a trial.

Should have been in Tolka tonight for the Trust meeting! :D

How are things going generally for the trust? Making much headway with its objects? Is there a positive view from the club in relation to a supporters trust becoming involved?

Saw it. Inclined to side with the 'primadonna' footballer over the tabloid journalist who still thinks he's in a position to look down on others.

Patterson does seem like the type that it's easier to pick a fight with once he's safely out of the country. :pac:

They seem to be going good, there's a slight bit of conflict in a way between the Trust and the SSDG though. Since it was set up back in 2012 (when I was invloved) things have slightly slowed down as there wasn't a big push on memberships but more in the background. Lots of proactive people on the Committee now and a good core group of fans that seemed interested.

Hopefully this season it gets going again with a huge push for memberships and the whole stadium issue coming to the forefront.
