Candy Cab Disassembly/Transport

CP area can come off in an aero , I'd suggest it's a two man jobif going up stairs easily,2nd heaviest candy cab I've ever moved, made worse as it doesn't have front wheels... (I'm fairly sure it has back wheels)

Don't look at the black monitor surround bezel too long either, brittlest substance known to man

as far as i know and can remember back to it was always a complaint from everyone , there was at one point in a few decent drop in replacements that were sturdier but they disappeared about 15 years ago , I know some people replaced them with these

if you have 3-4 people it would be moveable up stair there are two holders at the back and 2 grips at the side ,2 people could grab under the front and it would be moveable ,the cp is bolted on and can come off ,the monitor surround (metal part i have never really taken notice if its metal or not ! lol )comes off as well as the speaker parts on top , Im fairly sure the rest is welded together so is a square lump per se

The Aero is actually a better one for getting into the house due to the dimensions, it's an older machine and is a bit thinner as it has a 25 inch monitor.

My one was able to go through a standard house door frame without removing anything at all.

When you start getting to more modern ones like Astros, atomiswaves and things with 29 inch monitors, they're fat bastards and you need to take them apart. (usually removing the control panel works)

The flip side to the above is that the Aero is all metal, so although it's a bit smaller, it's really heavy. at 110kg.

The more modern 29 inch monitor machines are plastic, so are a bit lighter. Sega Astro is 93kg.

Have you seen any of the smaller candy cabs? (you mentioned liking a candy 18?)

I've an SNK Candy 25 and it's only 90kg. Much smaller footprint than an Aero and it has the same size monitor (and it's also full metal)

Aeros and Astros come up most regularly alright, but Ronnie does goes through phases of finding SNK cabs.

Best to get in touch with him directly rather than waiting for the emails. He can actually stick you on a list. I've always bought mine by just getting in touch with him and seeing what he has due in.

Just to give you a bit of a size comparison, here's my Aero along with my other two before I sold it.

Aero's CRT is 26 inches, other two are 25. Rather amazing the size difference though. An Astro is bigger than the Aero again.

The Pony and the SNK25 both have flat backs too so you can roll them up against the wall. The Aero has this weird back which juts out, you can see how much further this makes the control panel and base come out.

What are your dimensions?

I have an L shaped bend in a corridor before getting to my front door (which makes the likes of couches a nightmare), door frames are 74cm - both cabs breezed in.

It's more about trying to find a bit of a smaller machine than one of the larger 29 inch ones.

It’s got to be a candy cab for me. I’ve emailed Ronnie about an Aero City. That’ll fit into my house no bother.

I got a 2 player driving cab through my house.
Only advice I'd give is to get a ramp of some kind because you're not going to lift it up the steps!

Seems a little pricey to me although I haven't really been following arcade machine prices for a while.

My Aero was €1000 all in from Ronnie, including postage (The cab itself was 750 if I remember correctly) - but that was 5-6 years ago.

Would definitely be worth shooting him an email. He's open to haggling too.

I have a spare stepdown if you need one. It's not an airline but it's the black one a few people here have used the same one.

I got it with my cyber lead hassle, with 110/220 and not being told it was converted

Absolutely agree, nice and clean compared to some things I've seen and I've only seen a few cabinets.

To answer your original post. Lifting it is a 2 man job.

You can take the panel off if needed, but the Aero City is probably narrow enough so you won’t need to disassemble anything.

Yeah, been doing a lot of reading and spending of money over the past few days.

The 4th buttons aren’t wired up all the way to the harness anyway, so I think I’ll do something modular so I can connect to button 4 for Neo Geo stuff, and 6 button games.
