    Seems the Democratic MSM and the Twitterverse all hate her. Yet she ticks all the diversity boxes: she's ethnic Samoan, a woman, anti war and Liberal on spending. There have been several hit pieces on her being a Russian spy and an Assad lover among others, which are utterly ridiculous.

    Then there was Google shutting down her Google Ads account right after the first debate, depriving her of funding.

    The only thing I can see is that she's against third term abortions... A pretty reasonable stance assuming she excludes FFA from that (I haven't checked).

    The only other thing I can see is that she is a very beautiful and fit woman, and actually comes across as genuine so doesn't fit the feminist penis envy archetype, but is an actual strong woman. Also she doesn't play identity politics like the rest of them. Thoughts?

    Why should I care? Never heard of her before, from your description she's fairly unremarkable except people don't like her.

    You're making the assumption that identity politics is all that matters to "the left", hence your confusion as to why they wouldn't be all over someone based on their race and gender.

    As far as I can tell, she's basically seagulling the Democratic party; coming in, making a lot of noise and sh1tting all over everything.

    You might say that talk of her being a Russian asset is ridiculous, but then consider that you're here starting a thread about how great she is when you're clearly not on "her side", and across the web it's virtually only nazis and Russian bots who are shouting her name in praise and demanding justice. So it seems reasonable that she's at least a useful idiot in the propaganda war.

    Realistically she's either too left for the Democrats (like AOC) and the alt-right are trying to use her to discredit them, or she is actually there to deliberately sow discord in the democratic race.

    .. Aannd the Bidens are up to their eyeballs in corruption in Ukraine. You can bet any Democratic candidate that wins will lick Saudi Arabia's ass.

    She's the main candidate being pushed by Russian State media and bots. It's why she's so popular in alt-right and conservative circles.

    Yet for some reason, the alt-right and conservatives who like her can't understand why Dem voters and establishment don't like their favourite candidate.

    Tulsi is great. Anti-war which is all that matters given the US history of imperialism. She'd be a fantastic President. But she hasnt a hope and i refer you to McMoustache's comment above which is a parrotting of the mainstream media smear position on her. "Russian talking points" - did you ever hear such guff.

    She is the only candidate, apart from perhaps Andrew Yang, that is anything approaching a normal sensible person. Trump is going to win a landslide.

    Truth is the Democrats love the US war machine every bit as much as the Republicans.

    Just a pawn, I would imagine with some common positions such as the support for Assad thrown in for good measure.

    It's completely rational for Russia to support her given her positions on issues such as Syria and it would be negligent of them if they didn't. Why not promote the candidate with the least hostile stance towards Russia?

    But while Russia promoting here isn't really that interesting, what is interesting is how much it bleeds over into alt-right social media circles as well. It could be a coincidence. The same thing happens with Sweden as well. Russia Today is full of stories about Sweden, usually immigrant crime of the day type stuff, and I see the same obsession in alt-right circles. Again, it could just be a coincidence.

    Supporting Trump??? I don't support Trump - I detest him. I said he's going to win against the current crop of Dem front runners. Very different things.

    Fair enough. But do you think Dem voters would vote for Gabbard in sufficient numbers to defeat Trump? If she's polling in low single digits, I don't see how she would be popular enough to defeat someone like Trump who will get at least 80% of the republican vote. To beat Trump, she needs to be able to receive more votes than him in the battleground states. If she isn't popular with Dem voters, I don't see how that's even possible.

    Most Dems will vote for any democratic candidate over Trump (except Hillary.. Even some Dems wouldn't vote for her) . Independents, undecideds and even a few Republicans would vote for someone like tulsi. They wouldn't vote for Sanders or Warren, too "socialist" maybe they would for Biden.

    The thing is though, is that she is only about a 10th as popular as Hillary was among Dem voters. If she was as popular as Hillary, who wasn't that popular, she would be polling at least in the 20's at this point.

    I get that she is popular with some Trump voters but she would need to gain a crazy amount of Trump voters to make up for her lack of interest if not outright hostility among Dems.
