Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

If you're a woman and you want to lose weight, you should eat per portion: 37g

If you're a man and you want to maintain weight, you should eat per portion: 130g

With great rice, comes great responsibility.

    Or... something to that effect.

Depends on the size of the bag. There's two portions in a 250g bag.

Not enough rice for the price?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,479 ✭✭✭AllForIt

I bought one of those precooked bags of rice recently, (something I rarely eat as it is a starchy carb that helps pile on the pounds), specifically because the portion is small(ish) where if I bought a uncooked bag I'd make way too much and scoff the lot in no time.

So I for one am glad the portions size is small is the point.

A wok is a versatile round-bottomed cooking vessel, originating from China. The use of the wok is very prevalent in South China (particularly Guangdong Province). It is one of the most common cooking utensils in China and also found in parts of East, South and Southeast Asia, as well as becoming a popular niche cookware in all the world. They're used in a range of different Chinese cooking techniques, including stir frying, steaming, pan frying, deep frying, poaching, boiling, braising, searing, stewing, making soup, smoking and roasting nuts. Wok cooking is done with long-handled utensils called chahn (spatula) or hoak (ladle). The long handles of these utensils allow cooks to work with the food without burning their hands.

Convenience rice is a weird one. I mean it's pretty convenient as at it when you buy a kilo of it.

but the microwave pouches are done in 2 minutes rather than 10 minutes and involved no washing up.

I think Ben is paid a wage in return for filling and packing the little bags nowadays. New legislation and all that. So not racist.

In fact, YOU could be pulled up in front of the racism courts for patronising an old black man and insinuating that he can't fill little see-through perforated plastic bags as thoroughly and as competently when they pass down the conveyor belt in the rice packaging factory as a white man of a similar age and background.

Uncle Bens is owned by a supermassive American foods conglohommerate. If removing one grain of rice per packet means someone on the board of directors gets to buy a shiny new Tesla Model S they'll do it.
