One thing that was not clear - did MM and Vinales clash on the last lap ?

I thought there was something there too but I had another look from MM on board camera, and it looks like Vinales went too deep into the 2nd last corner and MM took it correctly.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,706 ✭✭✭Infoanon

Yeah i kinda chose to say that assways, knowing he blamed the two officials on track for giving him the go ahead. Just annoyed at the arrogance, as for Vinales i don't know, more information to appear during the week i guess. Couldn't believe my eyes to see a bike going back through a race start grid..

on board from Rossi bike is damning....as Colin Edwards has asked, why take such risks ?

I heard that as i was watching BT just waiting to see if anything comes of it now.

what an absolute shambles of a weekend.

firstly canet should of got a massive penalty for his incident just to let the riders know you cant do things like that but not race direction have made a stick to beat themselves with in future races.

Massive respect to jack miller that qualifying was as crazy as it was amazing. he totally deserved pole but to then get penalized the way he did because of a mass exit of riders to change tyres. they should have been made to start from pit lane. the head start they gave jack was a joke.

absolutely delighted for the race winner. was great to see the battle between new riders at the front its shaping up to be anyones season!

As for MM he is a disgrace, he thinks he cant get away with riding the way he does he was the same last season but luckily no one has been hurt yet. he was penalized in moto2 for his riding style or was that moto 3?

chances of lorenzo keeping his seat on the ducati after this season?:D

Ducati team manager Davide Tardozzi admitting that they are 'pretty confident' of resigning Dovi followed by they have yet to start negotiations with Lorenzo probably sum it up.

Dovi now calling himself Ducati's top rider (lead rider in other interviews) and calling himself "the central point for Ducati" will have pleased Jorge........

PS Dovi is right on all 3 above imho

There are options for Lorenzo - Suzuki / KTM etc though expect to see him stay at Ducati on much reduced money

peturcci is without a ride at the end of this year i would love to see him get lorenzos seat i think that would be a great move for him and ducati

is crazy joes contract up with suzuki this year?

Petrucci has an Aprilla contract lined up - he was already told by Ducati to look elsewhere - they have an option on him to June iirc - though lately his name has been mentioned in connection with a works Ducati - his problem is inconsistency

Crazy Joes contract is up at the end of '18 - cant see him staying at Suzuki unless theres a big turn around - either way Rins looks like a star of the future. Suzuki are looking for a big name though - Dani is a good bet

i thought cal was very respectful of dani everytime he was asked about the hrc seat. is it that certain that dani is going to lose his seat?

Puig and Dani don't get on - latest rumour is Lorenzo is being sought by Suzuki with Iannone out

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,706 ✭✭✭Infoanon

Rins expected to sign with Suzuki for the next 2 seasons - announcement as early as this weekend is rumoured.

Lorenzo is being sought by Suzuki as his team mate.

Also strong rumours that Marc VDS are going to reject Yamaha and sign up as Suzuki satellite team with current bikes a la Tech 3/KTM deal.

Marquez pushed back 3 places after incident with vinales.

i personnally dont think it was a strong enough punishment. i would of said back of the grid or from pit lane. as talented as he is he needs to learn he is not invincible and has to be held accountable for his actions.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,219 ✭✭✭pablo128

A half hour to go until the main race. I reckon there's another crash left in Marquez this weekend.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,729 ✭✭✭Arne_Saknussem

Be interesting to see how he gets on if he's not leading into the first corner alright!

Hopefully someone can give him a race today, whether it's Vinales or whoever.

True story. No change after about 5 laps.

The British were pulling stats out their ass about a brit leading the championship etc etc.

Here's a stat for ye. Crutchlow has an infatuation with gravel and loves To roll around in it... Every race weekend

CotA is the worst track on the calendar, how they could make **** of a great big track when they have no shortage of room in Texas and the benefit of all the great track designs that went before it?
Tilke tracks are largely poor stop start affairs TBH.

Worst kept secret is now official - Zarco has signed for KTM with Pol has team mate.

UK media and Bradley are pinning their hopes on a Tech 3 ride for Bradley - Tech 3 are no longer a 'junior' team but Herve has always looked for younger talent and hopefully Jonas can make a return next year.

    Unlikely I would have thought,

More KTM news - Miguel Oliveira confirmed at Tech3 KTM for next season.

Bradley and Kallio ruled out by Herve as team mates.

yea i was surprised by the comments from Herve.

Davide told btsports that Lorenzo has not even started talks with them because he knows that he is not in a strong position to negotiate. if he does end up staying i cant see him getting anywhere near the 12m a year he is getting now

    Dani Pedrosa....theres no words....

Yeah I don't think he did anything wrong. It was more the sulker. Remember he bawled Rossi out for doing the same, even though it wasnt Rossi's fault.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,219 ✭✭✭pablo128

I'd even go as far as saying it was a racing incident, but definitely not Pedrosa or Dovis fault.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,729 ✭✭✭Arne_Saknussem

Yeah, looked like Jorge only had eyes on Dovi and pulled across Dani's line.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,118 ✭✭✭tommyboy26

couldnt have felt worse for dani. he seemed to get the worse knock from the crash. he seen the gap and went for it what racer wouldnt.

seemed like lorenzos best chance to get a podium and having a chance of keeping his ducati ride.

what a finish for crazy joe. wonder where he will end up next year

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,706 ✭✭✭Infoanon

Another strong race from crazy Joe - however he would have been 6th if the Dovi/Dani/Pedrosa crash had not happened.

After 4 races the stand out riders apart from the usual suspects are Rabat/Miller/Rins with the Yamahas being a huge disappointment alongside the Marc VDS Hondas and Aspar/Angel Nieto Ducatis.

Lorenzo continues to disappoint - as does Petrucci who has not done his small chance of joining the works Ducatis and favours over the first 4 races.

Other news from the weekend was that Suzuki will almost certainly not field satellite bikes in '19 which makes a Marc VDS Yamaha link up almost certain (despite the split in the Marc VDS camp) with Morbidelli on Yamahas long term radar.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,706 ✭✭✭Infoanon

Countdown to Le Mans this weekend - KTM are talking about introducing the 19 Prototype at the Austrian race in August.

Honda have confirmed a wild card entry for Stefan Bradl at Brno, Sylvain Guintoli is also wild carding for Suzuki at Brno.

While down at Marc VDS, team manager Michael Batholemy (MB) has issued a statement about claims he had been mismanaging resources rejecting the claims unreservedly.A meeting with team owner Marc van der Straten (MvdS)was cancelled and this has been interpreted (by MB) as all allegations being off the table. MvdS legal team have confirmed that there has been no termination of MB contract.

Odds on hearing the Marseillaise this weekend for Mr Zarco and Herve ??

Lots of talk that Lorenzo and Pedrosa are on the move for next year.

Lorenzo to Suzuki and Pedrosa possible to Ducati, the latter sounds mad to me, Pedrosa would have his work cutout for him on that manic bike!

All seems to revolve around Lorenzo - if as is widely expected it seems - Lorenzo goes to Suzuki then Petrucci (or Iannone !) would go to Ducati with Dani staying put at Honda, now if Dani goes to Suzuki and Lorenzo stays put at Ducati expect Petrucci to go to Aprilla

Iannone has under performed over the two seasons and the recent upturn has come to late in Suzukis eyes - additionally Iannone is apparently not good at bike development.
Iannone has said that who he is riding for in 2019 will be known very soon.

Re Iannone going to Ducati - latest rumour is that would be Pramac Ducati with Jack Miller going to the factory team replacing Lorenzo.

Lorenzo to Suzuki/Petrucci to Aprilla/Miller to Ducati/Iannone to Pramac/Dani staying put,Smith/Redding out of motogp is a summarisation of the rumours

Lorenzo was on $12m apparently - Dovi was far from happy with the first financial offer from Ducati - as Ducatis championship challenger Dovi knew he could demand a lot more than the rumoured $1.5m he was on.

Rumour mill in full flow now - Iannone exit strategy from Suzuki is going to surprise apparently, Joan Mir is a possibility for Suzuki and according to DucatI Jack Miller will be on a pramac gp19 next year

Meantime at MarcVds - team managers contract has been terminated ....

there decision was a disgrace. there was no way he gained 3 seconds from going off the track which wasnt his fault. i have watched the kornfeld thing a load of times and still cant believe it. if i didnt see it live i would struggle to believe it

Latest silly season news - Mirs Honda option has lapsed with Suzuki now favourites to hire him to run alongside Rins ,this should secure Danis place at Honda,DucatI have said that they also have been in discussions with Mir but cannot offer a factory team ride - Suzuki can - while DucatI have also said that a decision on Lorenzo will be made after Mugello - the team apparently agreed a 3 European races reprieve for Jorge but it's not looking good for Jorge with comments along the lines that there's no point continuing if it's not working and the situation is worse then last year.

Could Lorenzo be without a ride in 2019?? Unlikely but his options are reducing fast......

i seen a few reports that ducati were in talks with danillo for the factory seat. honestly i really hope he gets it i think he has alot of potential and is already use to riding a ducati.

jorge with no ride would be insane going from been so successful on the yamaha to failing on a ducati to possibly no ride is such a crazy turn of events. do you think he maybe regrets leaving yamaha?

Mir to suzuki that would be a big risk for them with 2 young riders i find it hard to see that when they could have a option on dani or jorge

Danilo has an option with Ducati (as has Jack btw but all parties seem more than happy to stay at Pramac where Jack will have a GP19) which runs out at the end of June iirc

Mir to Suzuki - cheaper than Lorenzo and after the Zarco mess they probably don't want to miss out again.

If Mir is picked,Iannone goes to Aprilla and Petrucci goes to Ducati wheres left for Jorge ? as any Ducati ride is effectively ruled out that leaves - Tech3 KTM,MarcVDS Yamaha (Marquez and Morbidelli is apparently a done deal) and that's it unless Honda stun everybody !
