Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Surprisingly the Christmas fair was cancelled - you'd think there was a foot of snow or something! :D

I'm old enough to remember the snows of '82 and I can honestly say this is coming close to that. This is truly a 30 year at least winter! keep the fantastic pics coming, thanks to everyone posting pics, a wonderful record to look at in future normal mild winters :)

My dad and uncle say theres more now. Snow of 82 had more effect though because it drifted.

For the southern half of Leinster '82 wasn't anything too notable. For Dublin, Meath, Kildare and south Louth however it was an epic event. I have seen pics from 82 near my home and even excluding the enormous 7 foot drifts the snow was extremely deep. The max amount of snow seen so far in this spell anywhere in Ireland is about 1.5 feet. Of course parts of the Dublin/Wicklow mountains there is more than that.

This thread has so many quality photos, but I had to comment, the ones from Mullingar at top of page were very dramatic.
Is that good or bad lol?:)

Good, the colour contrast with the sunset (sunrise?) was fantastic, I thought. I mean, there are so many artistic shots in this thread, I wouldn't want to single out too many, but the one with the pony through the wheel was striking, and I loved the before and after that started the thread.

Just about every photo on this site seems top-quality to me, in terms of composition, I look back at some of my old photos from the pre-digital age and sort of laugh, but then when you have to wait a month to see your photos, you tend to forget to make them look good.

There was drifts of over 5 feet in South Kilkenny in '82 so I don't think it was that concentrated to just there!
