Netflix has an upcoming film "Cuties" which features an 11 year old from a conservative family who joins a dance group specialising in sexually provocative Twerking routines. The sexualisation of children is quite out in the open at this stage.

    11 year olds...

And? Why not do something about it? Complain. Cancel your subscription. Email your TD.

We sat again for an hour and a half discussing maps and figures and always getting back to that most damnable creation of the perverted ingenuity of man - the County of Tyrone.

Not remotely upset. Just wondering what the daily outrage threads are supposed to accomplish.

I see children dancing and having fun with their friends from different backgrounds. If you see anything else perhaps you need to look at yourself. Nothing in the trailer would suggest to me it is trying to "sexualise" children!

You could frame this as Netflix sexualising young girls or you look at it as Netflix distributing a movie that aims to highlight the exploitation and sexualisation of young girls.

Movies can be made about a subject without endorsing that subject matter.

You might need to look a bit closer to home if you find these kids dancing sexual. Looks like a fairly standard drama about diverse backgrounds and kids growing up.

This is the current affairs forum is it not?

Looking at the trailer and the blurb by Netflix it doesn't seem like its about the exploitation and sexualisation of young girls, certainly not coming from a critical perspective anyway.

A few years ago In a previous life on boards I said that being a liberal progressive (due to the ever shifting notions of morality) means that you end up having to defend and endorse all manner of depravity and lunacy. I think I was right on that.

I won't be one bit surprised when Netflix are implicated in a Nonce Circle. Even without this they were ticking all the boxes with excessive virtue signalling. It's usually a sign for sex creeps

I would agree to an extent, but this isn't a great example of that from the trailer imo.

Weve reached the point where people are more comfortable excusing paedophelia and the sexualisation of children than agreeing with anyone they presume is ‘right wing’

I doubt there's much paedophelia in this show tbf... If anything it looks like it might address the issue at the end where the girls are approached by the older kids.

I watched the trailer? Where's the twerking or even any sexualised moves?

Thanks for pointing this out OP. I will be cancelling my Netflix subs later. Looks like something Jeffrey Epstein would enjoy.

I mean in general, this show is still sexualising children though.

Also watched the trailer. I'm at a loss at the assertion by the OP afterwards?!

As far as i can see it's mainly the first still photo in the OP with 3 of the kids in stripper poses

If you don't think this is blatant sexualisation of children then I'm at a loss tbh.

How so? There are loads of shows that do (half of the other teen-crap where the main characters are played by models in their early twenties) but this looks far more like a drama that is going to look at the problems the kids are facing, as opposed to 'look at these kids twerking and getting up to no good'.

OP should have found a better example than just the show title and poster.

Take a long look at yourself if you think this isn't sexualisation of kids. Twerking and dressing like that is akin to something a stripper would do.

Where is the twerking in the trailer? Where are the sexualised dance moves? Did watch the show and see children being sexualised?

The original description of the show (before they changed it due to the backlash):
“Amy, 11, becomes fascinated with a twerking dance crew. Hoping to join them, she starts to explore her femininity, defying her family’s traditions.”

There may not be twerking in the trailer, but it was specifically and purposefully mentioned in the description.

It's Parental Guidance rating is TV-MA, which is 18+ in our language. It is pure noncery.

The image in the OP is a fake created to make it appear like this is a pageant-style movie about dancing 11 year olds being sexy. It's not an image that Netflix has produced.

The "specialising in twerking routines" is also made up nonsense that has little to do with the film.

Look at the trailer and you'll see very little connection with the fake posters the OP has posted.

This an award-winning French film about a preteens immigrants difficulty aligning her home culture and home life with that around her. Examinig the early sexualisation of children is a theme in this movie.

Of course, American Nazi and religious types are losing their mind about it, while ignoring the fact that they are the biggest creators and consumers of actual child porn in the world.

What was in the video wasn't "twerking" or anything even remotely like it.

And "Dressing like that" - You mean leotards and crop-tops?

What else would you expect them to wear when dancing??

Should they be in Burkas? (One of them actually appeared to be in the clip)

I took the OP at their word and didn't watch the video as I'm in a busy lab but I suppose this is why I have to ask for proof so often.

    Good to know.

Didn't know American Nazis were producing vast amounts of child porn have to say, every days a school day.
