Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Just looking at this, and I'm not seeing any way to upgrade to the annual option unless I log out. Selecting that option take me through login and back to the manage account page, which shows only my current monthly sub.

Unless I'm missing something somewhere, it looks like I'd need to cancel the current sub before getting the option of the annual one?

I'm severely disinclined to cancel what's working now for a potential saving of €10-€12 a year...

You are right, not worth the hassle of anything going wrong. The savings workout at around 20 cent per week and you probably walk past more than that on the footpaths.

That’s what I did, I cancelled my sub that was in India and then I signed up for the annual sub in Argentina. Very straight forward.

No need to change the country in google play store. Connect via VPN with different country (ex Mexico) and open web browser and type youtube sign in.

Then find ypu tube premium option & sign up. 👍

So I signed up for an annual subscription to a single plan a few months back using Turkish VPN. Was looking to upgrade to a family plan now but can't seem to do so. I've turned on the VPN again and gone to YouTube.com - mange subscriptions and when I click on manage plan, I just get a message 'Plan no longer available'

Any ideas, or will I need to set up a new account to get the family plan?

The last year or 2 YouTube is unusable with ads as far as I'm concerned. I remember noticing 10 years ago there were few fewer and shorter ads when I used Chrome than Firefox or Opera. It was really obvious and cynical but maybe now Chrome is solidly dominant they've turned them up too.

    So turns out I actually signed up via India originally where there is no family plan available. I am going to let the 1 year youtube single account run it's course. I was however able to set up a family group on the other half's account. Was pretty straight forward;

Created Google Family Group and sent invites to family members

Used Keep Solid VPN Unlimited to set location to Turkey on PC

Opened Chrome Incognito Window and went to Youtube.com

Clicked on Purchases and Memberships, subscribe to premium family plan

Used Curve card for payment method (similar to Revolut and also works for cheap Turkish Netflix)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,102 ✭✭✭derra

Any ideas how to deal with this?

My next payment is due to be taken today.

This is a reminder from Google to inform you that by June 30, 2022, Google must delete your existing debit or credit card information due to new Reserve Bank of India card storage regulations.

If you still plan to use your Visa card  for transactions with YouTube or other Google products, how you use your card may change.

To continue using the same Visa card to make payments with Google after June 30, 2022, without having to re-enter your card details, you must save your card details by using it to make a payment manually before June 30, 2022. If you don't do so, your card will no longer appear in your account, and you'll have to re-enter your card details to use it again.

I received the same email and unsure the next steps to take. Hopefully when they remove the card it will be easy to put back on the account.

Still kinda unsure myself at the moment but i got another email saying they had trouble processing my payment and to update my payment method and all it asked for was my CVV number and no additional details.

On my 'Pending transactions ' with AIB, i see the YT charge there.

When i go to Google: Subscriptions and services : YouTube Premium, it says i paid.

Your last payment was on Jun 23 for ₹129.00.

So am hoping that will be fine now.

My old Revolut card would never be accepted as a backup payment but my newly issued card has been accepted and i would prefer to use that than my AIB card. I don't wanna mess anything up either but just gotta wait and see if i do get another one of those emails saying they had trouble processing payment which happened before and it just went through after 3 days.

I’ll keep you updated when the date passes and if you could do the same. Hopefully it’s an easy process to re-confirm :)

I was using my old revolut card for YT premium in India and updated it to my new Revoult card last week and no issues, payment continued. Just had to select a area in India as an address so selected Delhi and that was it.

Ps. Don't need a VPN on while doing any of the above.

Can't understand how some have issues and others don't, my Revoult is a visa card by the way, I see they also give out MasterCard if that is the issue maybe?

Turkey is the cheapest good excuse to move subscription to there now that you have to re-add card

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,237 ✭✭✭Yggr of Asgard

With the upcoming crackdown by the Indian Union Government on VPN's combined with the constant requirement to update or use the credit card it's now time to either purchase a yearly subscription in India or move to Turkey (with the risk that that brings) or Argentina.

If you use India, most VPN providers will withdraw services due to the requirement to have real world details of users that use VPN's.

Whats involved in moving to Argentina from India?

My set of family accounts were all created fresh in India. I assume addresses will need to be updated before/during the move to Argentina? My payment method is valid for a few years, but its hardly just a case of cancelling indian subscription, then VPN to Argentina to resubscribe?

Would like to avoid having to mess with all the linked family accounts,

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,995 ✭✭✭Nigzcurran

I reckon it’s just cancel existing sub, as soon as it expires vpn to Argentina or turkey and sign back up

Hi guys does anyone have a YouTube family spot I could join? I don't feel Confident setting this up myself 😭

  • Registered Users Posts: 819 ✭✭✭setanta1984

it appears to be this simple. Cancelled Indian sub, which runs until 12th of next month, and connected to Arg Vpn and resubscribed - didn’t even bother waiting til it ran out. Went through no problem, just asked for a new payment method including address, even though one was on file. Very simple (assuming the payment goes through fine next month)

I did yes. Virtual revolut visa card. And a random Argentinian address from google maps.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,463 ✭✭✭✭Blazer

I use VPN express as its brilliant for streaming from HBO Max, they moved all their vpn servers out of India to Uk and Singapore and you can still connect in. Was going to change to Turkey or Argentina but no need to with them unless I decide to switch vpn companies.

Moved to turkey in 1 minute..Indian auto cancelled...used revolut card...I have family account so did not get full year turkey sub ! Thanks

What are the risks of using Turkey ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,212 ✭✭✭Roberto_gas

I was on Indian family plan ! It is allowed there.

  • Registered Users Posts: 200 ✭✭w4ntedman

As the vpn is only needed for setup and I don't use it while using Youtube premium is there any need to do anything?

  • Registered Users Posts: 811 ✭✭✭Rock Paper Scissors

Guys if anyone is setting up a ARG or TURK family plan and they need an extra 'family' member, please shoot me a DM

    Thanks Guys

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,011 ✭✭✭shmeee

My exact thinking. VPN is only needed for first time setting up YouTube Premium.

I updated my payment method to my new Revoult card last week (don't need VPN for that) so card has a few years on it yet.

I'd also love to jump on someone's sub and pay my way if anyone had a spot available.

Just cancelled my Indian sub and tried renewing in Argentina. Anyone having an issues using Revolut?

I manage to get to the payment page and I verify the ARS10 charge but nothing happens on Youtube after and just gets you to resubmit your payment details?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,097 ✭✭✭Jofspring

I updated to my new revolut card with no issues last month and it was working away fine, even took a payment. Tried to use YouTube this morning and it said my payment needed to be updated. Now it's not taking my revolut card. I'll have to try sign up via somewhere else by the looks of it.

I’m connected to Argentina VPN and trying to subscribe to YouTube premium via the app on my phone but I’m only getting the Irish price for the service.

    What am I doing wrong?

I had previously been subscribed to Argentina version on this phone but since my revolut card expired I’ve tried to resubcribe with a new account but no luck.

I’ve updated my card a few months ago via India. Revolut - Mastercard.

I haven’t received the email users on the thread has been talking about. Everything is working ok. Do I need to do anything?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,097 ✭✭✭Jofspring

I don't think I got an email. It just came up today when I went to use YouTube premium that my payment has failed and it won't renew. I had changed my payment method a few months ago also.

I couldn't re-sign up through the app. It was telling me to change my location in Google to the country I am browsing from and that it could only be done once a year.

I did it through incognito mode on Google Chrome. It took a good few tries but it finally went through.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,455 ✭✭✭lee_baby_simms

Ok cheers. Thanks for the info.

  • Registered Users Posts: 309 ✭✭ggmad

I would love to join someone’s family plan - please DM me if interested

  • Registered Users Posts: 309 ✭✭ggmad

Has anyone signed up to YouTube premium recently using a VPN? I’m having no luck, only giving me Irish prices

Edit: you need to use NordVPN now, tunnel bear and Surfshark won’t work anymore

Just signed up to YouTube premium Turkey using windscribe, had to change after the YT India payment failed this month, took a while but got there in the end.

I see my Indian premium sub is due to take money tomorrow, should I cancel tonight and resub to Turkey, or see does it go through first. Does it matter to a switch if payment doesn't go through?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,802 ✭✭✭irelandrover

The payment on my Indian sub went through no problem yesterday. I'm not going to mess with it for as long as it works.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,820 ✭✭✭podge018

went through for me today too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,011 ✭✭✭shmeee

Anyone having issues? payment didn't go through today and asking to update card and updated card again, verified payment in Revoult and then get an error on YouTube.

Have tried it with VPN on and off. No joy. Payment went through fine last month with the new Revoult card for India YT.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,011 ✭✭✭shmeee

Couldn't get payment to work so just moved to Argentina sub, 2 minute job.

    • Cancelled current Indian sub
    • Click 'Renew' new sub (with Argentina VPN on)
    • Paid in Ars179 (€1.50)
    • Entered random Argentina address for billing
    • Sub confirmed
    • Premium reactivated with same family members so no need to re-add.

I've logged in with NordVPN through Argentina but I see prices in USD.. How can I fix that?

  • Registered Users Posts: 37 Tamoreit

Not sure why this is happening, but check that the IP address from NordVPN is showing as an Argentinian one. You can check that by going to ipleak.net while you have NordVPN switched on and set to Argentina.

If you're still getting USD prices and you have an IP address from Argentina I would suggest clearing your browser's history and using incognito mode / private browsing (don't know which browser you use, they should both do the same thing regardless of what browser you use.) and try again.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,592 ✭✭✭✭TheDriver

It's usually better to go incognito for these signups anyways

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,387 ✭✭✭yannakis

Yeah I was on an Argentinian IP and was using Incognito on Chrome. Tried Chrome, Firefox, tried another Google account too but no luck :/

It's a month on since the issue came up and same hassle about updating payment was on the membership page.

Same as last time, all i needed to do was put in my card security code and that seems to have worked.
