Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Saw my first 191 earlier, Jag F-Pace, Monaghan reg. Oddly enough it was in Joe Duffy BMW.

Speaking of Duffy's, anyone know why they've moved premises?

Porsche is going into the old BMW dealership. I called into the new BMW premises over Xmas for a nose (since I had spent 10 years drooling at the finglas lights about some day going into the old place and that time came and went). It is nothing special, fine place like all BMW dealerships but I think the old place was better located with better presence.

On that I agree. Their old place was nicer for sure.

Not seen a single one yet, I'd expect to see at least 5 tomorrow when people take their steeds around for a bit of getting to know you driving.

I really like the Ateca and the new SEATs generally. I read somewhere that SEAT now command about 3% of the new car market which is impressive given they only had around 1% years ago.

Looking forward to seeing the new 7-seater Tarraco too.

Doesn't the chrome around the windows mean William has gone Titanium this time????.

    (Edit)

Just thinking back 30 years ago - if he always bought on 1st January.....

In 1989 his options would have been

Mk 2 Fiesta (Mk 3 didn't come until April).

Mk 4 Escort, Mk 2 Orion.

    Sierra (87 to 1990 version).

Mk 3 Granada in hatch only as the Saloon only came in 1990.

I suspect if he always drove Focuses then it's more likely he drove either the Escort/Orion or the Sierra back in the day.

Pity it's not mentioned what the actual first Ford in 89 out of Downeys for William actually was.

Shoddy journalism, the people of Laois need to know the details! 😂

As an aside I think a 1989 Orion was the first brand new car I was let sit into.

A couple in their 60s (at the time) had it from new.

Was a poverty spec* but with a sunroof - proper Ford factory one too (not the aftermarket ones that were common at the time)

Must have been an option as I think you had to go to GL spec on 89 Ford's to get the Sunroof.

*I thought it was awesome at the time.

Great to put a face to the car .191 LS 2
I had an image of the guy in my head but he is not what I thought.

    saw 2 191's in Cork.

    One was a
    Golf, comfort line, TDI
    so jealous.

Ah its no big deal really - it would be nice to know as someone who remembers 1989 era cars including Ford's when they were all new.

Used to love seeing the random cars when going with my Mum to the GPs.

There was that Orion I mentioned - and the actual head boss GP of the practice at the time bought a brand new metallic grey Peugeot 405 diesel in 1988 which was the first time I'd got a proper look at a 405 in the flesh.

Sorry for the thread diversion - carry on :)

    Tis the wife's.

    She's happy out.
It's the 1.0 petrol, sharp enough, no real grunt, but will do the trick.
Looks nice inside and out. Has all the bells and whistles bar leather. Phone sync is very well done.

    92LS7 Ford Fiesta 1.1 C
    93LS201 Ford Fiesta 1.1 L
    94LS225 Ford Mondeo 1.6 LX
95LS208 Ford Mondeo 1.8 TD LX
