Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. Don’t get the hatred for slane , first time there for GNR last year and will be going for this.
Had no issues there , was never at a gig or festival where the beer and toilets weren’t an issue or getting home.
Brought a tent to slane first time, walked out after it was finished into the camping area and had a laugh, got up and drove home.
Wouldn’t be traveling home after a gig again it’s always a nightmare.
The thoughts of getting home after creamfields and homelands back in the day was enough to bring a tent.

We camped for Foo Fighters. It’s perfect. You park alongside your tent too which is fair handy.

I had a dream last night that QOTSA were announced as support.
Also in this dream I read on rte.ie that each member of the band were part of the “songwriting team” for Slipknot.

    It’s a sign I tells ye!!!

Can’t wait for when people get their knickers in a twist over Slane being part of Dublin.

3 seems very light to me. Isn’t there normally more? Maybe i’m not giving Ghost enough credit but think they may need another band there with some pulling power.

Awful pity they're not doing a regular one here too. Will try for that Etihad one.

    A regular one?

Will probably end up doing Slane, won't be rushing for tickets though

Just going on the GN'R tickets last year, the GA was that price and it was another 50euro to get to the really front area (pit). I was glad I paid it to be honest, had an amazing view and loads of room very close to stage.

    Dire support.

Never heard of the first lot but Ghost are brilliant and am really looking forward to seeing them.

Oh actually shortest straw description seems to match that of gold circle.

Ghost are really good live. We'll get a great show from them too.

    Few more acts TBC too

Must check out support. Keep seeing people say good things about Ghost live. Organisers expect to announce two or three more, but I presume they'll be further down the bill, so probably not very big names. Time to shelve those dream lineup thoughts :D

Hardwired set is good though if it's the same that they're playing this year. I assume we'll get Whiskey as one of the interchangeable songs that they play from Garage Inc.

Slane itself is a bit of a pain, but I enjoyed it once I was there (only the once for the mega RHCP year). Would be cool to see Metallica in that setting.

    🤪

I had always avoided Ghost, just because their image didn't appeal to me! Finally had a listen to them last night and I must say they are pretty good!!

    Source?

I know there usually is more than 2 support bands, GnR had 3 (pretty average) bands before them last year.
I think they need another 'Big' band to sell a few more tickets, will probably wait until after Fridays sales to see how its selling.

Won’t get dark until around 10pm that time of the year so most of the gig will be in daylight/twilight.

Have been the last two times at slane but fairly certain it's kicks off about half 2 no? So you'd expect another 2 at least. Thought kaiser chiefs were brilliant before the foo fighters in 2015, I like hozier too so that line up was enjoyable for me. Wasn't killed on Royal blood at gnr last time but they've a big following in fairness. Missed the other support acts as out bus got lost on the day.

Catchy af the last 2 albums especially, I only got into them in the last year or so and them supporting Metallica is real special for me.

Me too, I've done it twice, horrendous weather in 2015 for the Foo Fighters, one great day and one crap day for G n R last year so I'm deserving of some good weather karma for the third time camping there :D
