Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Those 16v gsi's could shift in their day, not great at handling though !

Was there no tinted glass on Kadett GSI when new as standard?????.

Seems surprising when even the 2nd up from base Vectra (GLS) had it

This E30 is a daily driver around north Dublin, young enough looking chap at the wheel too. Including this there must be 6 or 7 E30s in daily use around my way, all of which have appeared on this thread at one stage or another!

I used to go to school with the son of the lady driving the Starlet, she has it 20+ years I'd say.

That's not a GSi according to carsireland.ie, but a 1.2 Junior in GSi clothes.

    That was my exact suspicion......

I didn't want to simply call out the idea that this wasnt a genuine GSI as I don't know enough about them.

I thought it was missing the GSI rear quater window vents. Could be anything under the bonnet though

No photos unfortunately, as I was driving, but lots of old cars (incl. a Ford Model T delivery van) in Cahirciveen last weekend - obviously a group doing the Ring of Kerry. It was like a time warp driving through the Main Street with cars from the 50s/60s/70s/80s all parked up.
Also, outside Glenbeigh an 87 Audi 80 E, they look tiny like the e30’s of the era.

VW in Fairview, Transit at the Westbury and Starlet in Marino. I don't usually photo cars in gardens but this was too good to pass up, and I don't think the photo gives too much away in terms of location etc. Lovely little 1 owner two door EP80 outside a nice old house and tidy garden...a little gem I'd say

I was trying to figure out if it was a factory colour (unlikely!), old company colours or just a pure coincidence that two lads decided to paint their Transits bright orange..

Looks a derivative of a Hillman Imp to me

Was the estate version the Husky, or was that the van?
They were known to be the only small family car that you could wear a Top Hat in!

A imp husky by all accounts.

It's a Hillman Husky, an Imp derivative. The Van was the Commer Imp Van. They did not share a bodyshell as such, although they are obviously related. The Imp Van was badged Hillman towards the end of the run.

I'm sure you can attest to this yourself Martin when I say that north Dublin - particularly Whitehall, Marino, Drumcondra and Glasnevin - is still full of these yokes. Pass through any of these areas tomorrow and you're bound to see one or two, be they on the road or sat up in a garden but even still I never get tired of seeing them.

Its funny how you can relate certain cars to certain parts of the country/county.
