Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    She'd shut up talking alright

Ugh your comment and the other comments like yours are just gross and creepy. I’d also bet a lot of money that she wouldn’t touch any of ye with a barge pole.

I don't watch DWTS really but I listen to a lot of Breakfast republic in the morning because my son loves it and she wouldn't bother me as much if she wouldn't be so downright rude. Sometimes she's insulting people where there's no need to and it's really OTT.

But I found myself quite amused by Bridget and Eamon, more than it should really.

maybe people wouldn't dislike these women so much if they actually had talent. rte is a retirement home for every sad sack talentless yoke this country produces.
Perry is a well established journalist and it's completely dishonest for anyone to suggest she has no talent.

Laura isn't really hated, its just that weird mikey taylor guy who has a fixation on her and members here are taking the mick, Vogue has been stated why here so many times and Jennifer is mentioned here, and not really bothered by the Perry one

and just for diversity, for you, Bernard O'Shea, Ray D'arcy, Graham Linehan and Eoghan McDerrmott

Perry was good when she was in the US. She doesn't have the Anne Doyle wink tough.

You forgot Kathryn Thomas. I think Jennifer is pretty annoying too but the venom directed at Vogue, Caitriona and Kathryn is just bizarre. And they try to find stuff wrong with them. It's total desperation.

And even if you pay the TV licence, you don't have to watch any programme that they're on.

Vouge has been a failed dj/wag/model/author (book sold less than 1000)/ documentarian etc and now has a Kardashian lite show on E4 with her husband who has a faint link to the royal family, and like Amy Huberman, people are getting sick of constant opportunities for so many failures and such little talent...

I don't think either have "failed" but yeah I can't stand all that vapid celeb stuff too, but the sheer level of aggression is disproportionate.

They don’t. Entertainment shows are not funded by the licence fee.

    https://www.rte.ie/about/en/how-rte-is-run/2012/0221/291618-the-license-fee/
Why are there ads on RTÉ?

The majority of RTɒs activities are of a public service nature. The cost of providing these services, however, exceeds the amount of licence fee revenue which RTÉ receives. As a result, RTÉ engages in commercial activities to bridge the funding gap.

It sounds like they just combine their funding and it's not separate.
I'm sure there has been years when they couldn't secure as much ad revenue but I've never seen them cut back on entertainment shows because of it.

The cost of their public services remit is met by the licence fee (And advertising) the budget for non PS is less than advertising revenue

Jennifer is attractive, funny and gets paid to talk on the radio or in front of a camera. Haters gonna hate.
I'm not saying I find her the most attractive, or the funniest person alive, but she is well entitled to any of the roles she gets as far as I can tell.

Another one on the RTÉ gravy train(tax payers bread) in return for zero talent.

    Ahhh that feels good.

There is nothing unique about her in that regard and it's true of a lot of media/arts types. The country owes these people a living for their service.

The issues I'm the Abbey theatre show how this mindset is prevalent throughout this sector.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,700 ✭✭✭Feisar
