Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

"When Christian reflects on the first season, from where he has gone in the start he should be very happy," said Lampard.

"We'll get him fit and ready. If he misses the first one or two games, we'll hopefully have him after that."

Old news but still useful nonetheless.

Nathan Ferguson won't be ready for the start of the season anyway.

Dubravka out for possibly 6-8 weeks. Newcastle not in a good place at the moment with the injury to Gayle also :(

Makes that Darlow overprice all the more galling.

Yes, a complete sickener. No logic to having him listed as a 5.0 GK. If it had been a long term injury there would have been a slim chance that Freddy Woodman would have competed for a spot.

The hope was to send him to Swansea for another year, he has the makings of a fantastic keeper.

Pogba confirmed for Corona Virus. Could see him start the season slightly later. Obviously won't be training with team etc

We should create topic for corona positive players... This will be a difficult season...

Rashford potentially out for longer than just GW1.

Mason Mount, Tammy Abraham, Christian Pulisic and Fikayo Tomori and four more currently self isolating.

    Covid could ruin the season.

Wes Morgan picked up a knock in Leicester's friendly. Their defence could be a car crash for the first few weeks.

There’s gonna be an awful lot of these “he’s in quarantine, he’ll miss one game” situations this year. They’re the annoying ones that you might as well bench him for a week than selling them. We’ll all be relying on our first subs more than usual this year

2 week quarantine/self isolation from today perhaps.

Doubtful to start that Wolves game on the 21st.

Any of the FPL sites looking for clicks is really missing a trick by not having a listing of all the players who have/had Covid19.

Under the assumption that once you've had it you can't get it again, anyone on that list should have greater long-term value. I'm now tempted to get Mahrez in after a couple of GWs.

Going with a cheap bench looks less appealing by the minute.

Yeah...I've been trying to fit two 10-12m midfielders in my draft (various combos of Salah/KdB/Sterling/PEA) but I may have to settle for one for the health of my bench.

Yeah, I get you. I still can't see myself changing too much in terms of strategy. I will be on my usual 1 substitute that I would happily play, 1 solid starter at the cheapest price available (who will often not have a very high ceiling), and 1 guy where I really don't care too much if they play or not as long as they're cheap (if i can get a 2nd guy that plays also, even better)

I think it's going to rule out 4-4-2/4-3-3/3-5-2 for me. Three playing strikers plus 5 nailed on defenders feels like a must. You can get that with 2 premium mids though.

how accurate is the assumption? can you still be a carrier if you had it before?

10 days self isolation according to the NHS.

... 2 city players earlier, now this...if they broke quarantine rules, may need to seld isolate for 10 days... Idiots for bringing women back to the hotel, Greenwood with his 1st call up lol...

Would this have any repercussions for their premier league availability ?

From a piece on the BBC -

The Football Association are investigating allegations made against Phil Foden and Mason Greenwood, with the expectation that the pair will be asked to leave the England camp.

This. He may well be a fully viable option again now!

Holding is still there though. Won’t he get the nod? Personally I don’t see them playing 3 at the back against Fulham

Was just thinking Holding might be the safest bet initially, he is not being loaned now. It could be Holding/Gabriel/Tierney though Saliba has more pre-season behind him. Hopefully Arteta will give some clues.

Tierney-Saliba-Holding back three was what I assumed. Didnt think of switch from back 3. You're no craic! :)

Haha, have we eliminated Gabriel from the equation also?

I got the impression that Holding would start for Arsenal at Fulham. Holding is also 4.5

I think the same, but unless you’re on a super early wildcard you might find yourself transferring Holding before long, I will avoid Arsenal defence altogether until we can match value up against reliability

I think they have 7 attractive games in their opening 10 games and have potential for CS points.

I think I might keep whatever Arsenal defender I can get in. Initially, after lockdown, I was thinking of Tierney but been priced out of him. If one of the 4.5 defenders could be nailed on, it would be nice.

My point was that I can see Holding starting the season but then potentially being replaced early. I agree that if you had a 4.5 defender who would play maybe 70-80% of their fixtures, then that would be good value.

But in my low craic nature, I do not see the obvious candidate. Nothing tells me that Gabriel and Luiz will miss out on spots and when they play as a 3 CB unit Tierney will probably take that 3rd spot on the left anyway.

Ps Mustafi and Sokratis are still Arsenal players right? I know Mustafi is inured at the moment, but that’s another conundrum to deal with when he returns to fitness

Does this mean that you think Saka starts LWB more often that not? With the team then changing a bit for the bigger games with an extra CB coming in and Tierney switching to LWB?

Yeah I think Saka will play a lot of football there. Willian will have taken many of the wide minutes and you wouldn’t know if Pepe is going to improve for a 2nd season in English football.

Having that cheap Arsenal defender in your team will be a very short term move imho.

The Luiz injury doesn’t sound too bad so it’s a transfer waiting to happen...won’t be long til you’re looking at Holding out for a hero

It's only a runner if Luiz is out longer term yeah. Which I thought was what reports earlier were suggesting.

    One to watch.

I meant to post on this previously. I see Saka and Nkeiteh in lots of teams, fair enough they’re cheap but you are dreaming if you think they start most games.

Arsenal is a business, probably the most business orientated club in the league.
Pepe is their most expensive asset, he will be on the pitch, even if it’s just to hold his value. You’re smoking crack if you think a rookie manager like Arteta would be allowed leave him on the bench at any stage.

Behind all that Pepe was actually quite good after the restart, started the cup final and was quarantined for the charity shield

Edit: Similar story with Ole and Pogba

Yeah, I mostly agree, although I still think it will be Willian and Auba in the wide positions most frequently.

Apparently Lampard says Thiago Silva, Hakim Ziyech and Ben Chilwell all won’t be involved for this weekend.
