Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Ulster bank atm worked for me, mine others would (I'm with TSB). Said to the person behind me in the queue in Aldi, and the person behind then said they had used a separate ulster bank one that worked for them too.

Might wanna get to the ulster bank ones quick since there'll be a lot of fairly large panic withdrawals due to the long weekend I reckon.

Happened about ten minutes ago. I got a free coffee which was nice. well I will pay them back but it was still nice of them. I should be ashamed of myself paying for a coffee with s card. Should have cash.

Foooooooooook! Bank holiday, decentish weather promised, think beer gardens and no cash available. I think it really is time to panic then.

Visas main market is Europe, think MasterCard will have a major big share after this. I'll be asking my bank to switch me and waive the fees for doing so.

Not at all. I just tap for everything. Easier than cash and change.

Went in to city to get a few bits done/bought and this happens. No cash and Visa not working. Couldn't even top up my Revolut card... time to dip into the company card (I'll pay em back).

Are we talking Visa credit cards or debit cards or both?

    According to the Irish Times:
Mastercard said its payment network was operating normally. “We are seeing nothing abnormal on our network right now,” a spokesman said.

It's hard not to believe though that they aren't doing this at the expense of their rivals right now........

It's always a bit embarrassing, having to explain at the tills that "this doesn't usually happen".

Mind you, I probably shouldn't have been having sex with the cashier anyway.

Was in a petrol station earlier and it was mayhem with about 12 people trying to pay with card

Just waiting here until everyone starts blaming their bank and demanding compensation or they will close their accounts... Its a visa Issue and nothing to do with your Financial Institution..

Why would they switch you and waive the fees? Its not your banks fault that visa went down?

You really think that because of one issue that people will switch.

It will all be forgotten in a day.

The cashless society is being pushed as a great thing but then this happens. I really do pity the staff in filling stations across the country right now.

Apparently payments are being declined in Ireland, the UK and across Europe. Inconvenient.......

Currently in Italy and the Visa card giving me no issues at all.

Usually this type of outage is either

    A. Massive undermining of the network

    B. Someone pulled the big red plug out, that says 'do not remove'

    C. Someone pressed the wrong button

At least it's across Europe, this way someone will be held accountable for it, if it was just Ireland they would be fine as no one here would saying anything to them about it, now upset Claude from Brussels trying to pay for his five course six star, Steak dinner with the bit on the side and you'r fúcked.

Yup, ISIS have claimed the credit.
If someone farted in a swimming pool ISIS would claim responsibility for a chemical attack.

AIB Tweeted that their own customers will have no issues with AIB machines. Went to the shops that had a queue of about 15 people. First lad tries the machine, tells everyone it's empty and the queue disperses. Tried my card and it worked fine. :D
