Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Cheers. I handed it in to reception in the factory itself and had it addressed to HR. Didnt apply for anything specific. No cover letter or anything. I don't think there's any email application as the jobs aren't exactly advertised. Word of mouth type of thing. You should drop one in anyway.

As for the company holding your CV on file for 12 months, this is all true as I was called to do a second aptitude out of the blue after getting refused after the first test in January.

just got an email to say they will be doing the interviews for the sales asoicaties and will be in contact with in the next two weeks :)

Lucky! I got an email saying I was unsuccessful a couple of weeks ago even though I have more experience than what they're looking for and could have certainly proved myself in an interview. Would sacrifice a limb to work in HMV.

Getting a bit downhearted with this lack of jobs thing, even the internships you have to be qualified to do the job even before you get a chance to do the internship

It has only been 7 months but I don't know how people manage to keep sane after being out of work for years...I would go off my rocker

It's very tough out there at the moment campo, but keep applying for jobs, don't lose faith, I was made redundant a four years ago, out of work for a full year, then a fas scheme, then a part time job in a kitchen, after six months promoted to manager.

It was very hard road but if you keep plugging away and are prepared to take anything you will get something. I know its easier for me to say now, but trust me I have been there and it's not fun.

Curious as to whether anyone heard from HMV since they said they'd be in contact within two weeks?

Wanna know whether to stop checking the e-mail.

Anyone know of any jobs round limerick. Preferably in town or in the crescent. Can't drive so I'm limited by where the bus can take me :D every thing I've seen seems to require some form of expereince. In 2nd year in UL but honestly having thoughts of leaving it because its just not working out. Ideally I'd like to know I might have a job before I make that decision final. At the moment the only time I am available for work is weekends because of the way my schedule is layed out.

@coolguyrko, If you leave University you will look back and regret it. If you don't like your course, change modules, course or faculty. You can see how hard it is to get work, what will it be like without a qualification? You have this great opportunity, use it. Hang on in there if you can afford to, you will be working long enough.

It may have been a crap hole but it was our crap hole Cillian. I should probably change that. Mood changes by the day tbh. Depends on how the riding goes(don't have a dirty mind for once) you not doing yours anymore?

Nope I left in January, wasn't my thing. But the year is early still so you'd be surprised where it takes you. So its definitely worth sticking through for another while at least. I'm the last person you'd expect to hear it from but college is the place to be if you can, as I'm sure a lot of people in the jobs threads will tell you
Because I've been looking myself, and although I'm lucky enough to be in a job (although with bar hours sometimes it might not even be worth it) all the jobs out there are either minimum wage in the likes of the Icon or jobs that require a level 7/8 degree.

Apart from that, your only real choice in the matter unfortunately in this city is door to door sales.

And Hey Phog nice to see you :) how're you getting on?

tesco wont take it for sure as their sales are directly proportional to hiring new staff...

From previous years, dunnes, boots and argos have always looked for xmas staff, good place to start. Hell if you went to childers road, you can check all three at once!

    Hi

Could someone list the companies in limerick that take on general operatives?

From this thread, Vistakon and Styker do. Is there anyone else. The chances of getting a job are slim, but i will send off CVs anyhow or hand them in.

Thanks. Might try cook medical as well. Dont know if they take on general operatives though.

Is there any other big companies within the city or surrounding suburbs?

The chances of getting in are slim, but no harm in trying.

Our place has been taking on 2/3 people on a weekly basis for the last couple of months. I heard today that they are doing aptitude tests again soon. Fire a CV into the reception in Stryker with "F.A.O H.R dept" on the envelope. Don't post it, go in yourself personally. It always looks better. Some sort of mechanical background or trade will help you a lot here. Best of luck. Might meet you on the line some day
