Left wing stupidity: I've noticed people on the left tend to live in a fantasy world and have this idea of how the world should be regardless of how impractical their ideas or principals are. They seem to think people should have way too many entitlement given the resources and practicalies in the real world. But they don't think about things like practicality, they seem to be more concerned with some imaginary utopia in their mind that is completely unrealistic. I find Michael Graham can point out the above very well. Although he is quite stupid on certain things too IMO.

Right Wing Stupidity: I think this boils down to them living in the past, they often cling to principals and ideas that are no longer relevant. I admire much of their practical view of the world though.

Practicality is still relevant to some people :)Thankfully!

So, your point is, everyone but you is stupid?

frequenting a strongly right wing forum as i do i find that this statement is more true these days of people on the right especially right wing americans, "get rid of taxes, remove all immigrants" etc and american will be a great country once again

i had one guy tell me that an extreme right-wing society couldn't lead to totalitarian or authoritarian state instead would result in individualism

EDIT> GO ADVANCED> TITLE CHANGE TO:

Examples of Left Wing Stupidity vs Right Wing Stupidity?

    Might save the day ;)

The idea that all the worlds problems/ideals/soutions fall into just two categories. Now that is stupidity.
I wish everyone had one ideal; consistency.

    Left vs Right ??????

Sounds from your post like you are a right-wing nutjob who just wants to bait left wingers. There's nothing "versus" about your post given your rambling anti-left screed compared to your timid little right-wing critique.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,689 ✭✭✭Kasabian

The far left is very different to the left and the far right is very different from the right. The left is different to the right and the far left is different to the far right.

The center left and the center right are different to the left, far left , right and far right respectively.

    Get it?

    I'd see it more as

'Left Wing people want benefits for the less well off to bring them to a common standard, and realise there need to be taxes to pay for it'

'Right wing people don't want benefits for the less well off to raise people to a common standard, and don't want there to be taxes as a result'.

'People at large want the benefits but don't want to have to pay for it.'

I can't be the only one who thinks that the first reaction from the political-left to anything said against them is outrage and disbelief rather than reasoned debate.

    Let's not do this again.

Some people will arrive utterly convined that left-wing = sugar and spice and all things nice while right-wing = slugs, snails and puppydog tails, whereas right-wing people will point out that both are massive spectrums and that both labels are meaningless without an Authoritarian-Libertarian axis as well.

And then we all get angry.

Didn't you just kind of do that by implying that left-wing people can't see things on a spectrum?! Sneaky!

but if you are implying the left is reactionary and they are saying the right is confrontational those that not mean that both the left and the right are wrong?

To the left obviously. Some things are traditional.

That's exactly what I'm saying. As fontanalis pointed out, why the hell are all the worlds problems condensed into two view-points?

I think you need lessons on what constitutes left wing and right wing. Let's start here: Left wing good, Right wing bad.

    ;) Like a FOX!!

Nah, but the left are (broadly speaking) much more likely to self-identify as left-wing compared to right-wingers who rarely self-identify as right-wingers.

If you don't believe me, look at Left-wing groups such as Labour, Sinn Fein or any of our many Socialist groups.

Or even just read Indymedia, where they continually discuss the 'values of the Left' and the like.

EDIT: Now that I think of it, the very idea of a left-right axis as being determinative is probably a left-wing idea; people on the right are far more likely to emphasise the importance of an Authoritarian-Libertarian axis...

This really only says that there is less individual shame in being a lefty!

    Nope, its the shame.

Its like this, we all have the dark thought..... like standing waiting for a train and the thought of pushing the granny in front of you onto the tracks crosses your mind. You certainly dont tell the granny what you thought.

This is what its like to be right wing, there is no reason to tell your fellow human that you dont give a flying f about them unless they can offer you soemthing in return!

Ah come on. What about many people on the "lefts" constant support for Castro? If that's not dark I don't know what is.

They're not really. There's 'far left', 'centre left','right left left right!', oh and the 'loony left' who lean so far left they fall over into their own handwoven yoghurt. Same goes for the right. I would consider myself to be more to the left of the left, but not too much. Socialism was only made a dirty word by greedy capitalists.

I never said it was. I just can't stand people who align themselves with one line of thinking be left or right. The very need to label oneself as being this or that suggests to me they are either immature or haven't properly thought their position through and need to re-examine their convictions. Possibly both.
