I hope that doesn't come across as discrimination against cakes. :(

At the risk of some dullard calling me a "virtue signaler" I'd just like to say that I would never, under any circumstances, discriminate against a cake, whatever its colour.

My sexual preference is not to sleep with gay men as I find the idea repulsive. Sleeping with a straight man is less repulsive. It's so weird to think I could be attacked so ferociously for something like that.

Oh I dunno. I can not even share a room with coffee cake, let alone actually put one inside my body by any means or via any orifice.

I have a scary feeling that it's harking back to the start of AIDS and a WHOLLY UNFOUNDED myth that only gay men got it.

Would I sleep with a man who had also previously slept with a man ? Why ever not ???

Well, I certainly don’t think that only gay men pass around HIV. However it is much more likely to be transmitted via anal sex. That’s just a fact.

This thread has confirmed something pretty depressing to me; everyone seems to have a side now.

If this was a story of online abuse leading to a suicide would the first reaction be "Oh they obviously must have had other problems already". If it was Transphobic abuse or "slut-shaming" would the first instinct be to undermine that argument? Would it ****e.

Tragic stuff altogether, whatever the "cause".

I hate coffee cake and it will never be welcome in my house.

Carrot cake is the king of standard cakes. But to preach such vitriol against coffee cake should be a charter breach.

I think the parallels could be there, if and only if the baker sincerely believes that baking the cake could potentially result in negative personal consequences - like being struck down by a wrathful God. Otherwise I'm not seeing it.

but its about the concept of owning your work. A court could decide her reason isn't valid and technically she might even be wrong (as in her risk assessment) but it wouldn't be the point.

Thanks for your replies, I've just never really thought about it. I'm coming from a different place as a bi-sexual person though. I think it's probably similar to the fact that I generally tend to be more attracted to white people than black people or Asian people. I don't consider it to be racist, just my general sexual preference.
I'd be the same when it came to "racial" preferences. Just don't find Asian/African women subjectively attractive for me. Maybe my willy is in the KKK...

On women being dubious about sex with men who have had sex with other men I can see the biological logic behind it. As a heterosexual man I'd have no issue with bi women and a few of my exes have been. Unprotected lesbian sex would be about the least risky as far as HIV transmission goes all things being equal, whereas unprotected gay sex between men would be about the most risky and cold hard stats bear this out. In the US two thirds of new HIV infections are among gay/bi men. Gay women don't even figure, or at least to so small a degree it's hard to find stats for them. Which makes biological "mechanical" sense.

Heterosexual women are at more risk of HIV and other STD's because in unprotected sex men leave *ahem* body fluids containing the virus internally. Much higher potential viral load and across a much larger area of sensitive moist skin than going the other way. Homosexual/Bi male sex same thing, only said stuff is left in an area not quite evolved to take it and the tissue is even thinner so more chance of tears etc(of course same is in play in hetero couples that include the road less traveled).

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

Can we not just build a wall around the united states and cut them off from the rest of the world?

Walls aren't much use when it comes to cyber bullying

    Can't argue with this.

I'd white knight for a cake even if nobody would take notice of how virtuous I was being.

I only virtue signal for cookies and likes.

Hold your horses there. She ended her life within days of making the Tweet in question.

Most people would note the chain of events happened very rapidly, and it's reasonable to speculate that there may have been other issues that this was piled on top of. That doesn't mean the bullying wasn't the cause, just that it may have been part of other causes too.

Not all posts have to be interpreted through the lens of whatever a persons pet bias is.

That girl is dead - at least in part - because people are vicious, and thats the most important to take away here.

So basically August refused to do a scene with a male star who also does Gay porn scenes. This was apparently because gay porn actors do not get tested because they wear condoms. However there was huge backlash against the girl for this by women and gay men on social media platforms to the point where they told the girl to kill herself.

Is it time to start handing out harsh punishments for bullying on social media?

Ah right, I kind of suspected that given the rapid unfolding of events. The poor thing.

What a girl. More famous now than when she was alive. Bet she'll be trending on redtube for weeks.

She made over 290 movies, don't try watch them all in the one go.

Im sure a lot of the tweets weren't even "vicious" but using the magic word "homophobic" is the moral equivalent of sticking pins in a doll, it has magic powers if you think it has.

here is a random tweet I pulled from her account, on any other topic its not much above with "I disagree" but it has the magic incantation included

no her tweet was extremely homophobic. she should just admit, apologize and move on

Well, my understanding is that other porn stars that knew her mentioned they were aware of her depression, but didn't know how deep it actually was.

The backlash she received was probably the straw that broke the camel's back and she couldn't take it.

You'd have to wonder whether the people that tweeted bile at her feel anything for being indirectly responsible for her death.

Totally agree. It just shows how scary the internet mob can be.

Remember when the Rosetta spacecraft landed on that comet? The head of the project appeared on camera wearing a shirt that had half-naked women on it. He received so much backlash that he had to give a press conference apologising for wearing the shirt.

What should have been the happiest day of his life -- the culmination of nearly a decade of effort -- and he was reduced to tears because of the exact same kind of crowd mentality that this lady faced.

And it turned out that the shirt was made by his best friend -- a woman -- and he was wearing it because of how much he loved it and to give her work an international audience.

This kind of SJW crowd mentality is an absolute pox.

It was based on the fact that the testing procedures for gay porn are not as stringent as in straight porn afaik. So if a guy has done gay porn without undergoing sufficient testing, the risk of exposure was obviously higher. Afaik, even if he then undergoes the stringent testing in preparation for a scene with a woman, there is still a risk that he had contracted hiv when the actors went untested and it's just too soon to show up on the test now. There was a porn star in America who tested clean before a scene but then at his next testing two weeks after it came up positive and he has been saying that testing every two weeks is not sufficient. But I am obviously no expert on porn or std testing so that could all be incorrect info,it's just my understanding from what I've heard!
(Last part sounds like I'm protesting a little too much :pac: )
