SJW campaign leads to porn star suicide.

So basically August refused to do a scene with a male star who also does Gay porn scenes. This was apparently because gay porn actors do not get tested because they wear condoms. However there was huge backlash against the girl for this by women and gay men on social media platforms to the point where they told the girl to kill herself.

Is it time to start handing out harsh punishments for bullying on social media?

I mean, from reading the tweet she sent out first it wasn't exactly very well put.

But with that said, the amount of abuse she got afterwards was certainly over the top.

Independently of anything here, including the telltale "SJW" which announces to the aware that the OP is against social justice, bullying should always come with consequences.

Particularly if the bullying is aimed at people who are legitimately defending their own or someone else's civil rights and personal boundaries.

Of course this is horrific, but since it only happened over the course of a few days I would imagine that the poor girl was in a bad place to begin with and this tipped her over the edge. You don't go from complete wellness to suicidal in the space of days, even with vicious bullying.

None of which excuses any of it.

I would class this campaign as being perpetrated by SJWS. As in people who go into overdrive about something that is said rather than the meaning behind it. Looks like your post, being so aware and all, ironically missed the point entirely.

Bingo. And thats why I used the term SJW. I don't use it liberally like some people but in this case the term is apt.

I though SJW stood for "Social Justice Warrior" and that the "Warrior" part of that is used in a sarcastic way? As in they are anything but "warriors" and don't do much real fighting for actual social justice.

More accurate to say the OP is against Social Justice Warriors than to say that the OP is against Social Justice.

No. I actually think people who use the term SJW are sneering at the idea of social justice itself. Which is, if you know the history of the "SJW" term, the actual case.

Very sad but I'm not surprised. Twitter is infested with such SJWs loons, why people post there and open themselves to the judgement of the mob is beyond me. If someone is in a bad state mentally then I can see how such bullying would be devastating.

Seemingly she suffered very heavily from depression, but kept it mostly under wraps. Other porn stars have posted saying they wished she had reached out to them or anyone about it. What the people did was absolutely vile; nobody should succumb to that kind of abuse because of a personal choice with regards to sexual preferences, but it also should have a message -- if you're suffering from depression, are in a bad patch, or anything else, talk to someone about it. Be it a professional, a friend, a family member, or anybody. Don't suffer in silence.

Well I can understand her reasoning if there isn't compulsory STI testing of men who do gay porn, (I don't know anything about this but I assume she does) even if they wear condoms for penetration, I doubt they wear them for blow jobs and that can be a way of passing on STIs too. It doesn't sound to me like she's homophobic but she could have phrased it a bit better, it sounds like she won't sleep with men who've had sex with men. Then again Twitter does limit how much you can say in a tweet. I think the backlash was uncalled for, but I also think that like Candie said she probably wasn't in a great place to begin with. Either way it's sad and the bullying was avoidable if some people weren't so quick to get out their pitchforks.

I dont think this had anything to do with sexual preferences. She is not the only porn star who doesnt work with crossover stars. Its not about hate its more about a fear of aids. Completely understandable imo.

If you try to change what people meant to fit your own agenda sure you're going to find a way to have an argument with them over nothing.
