Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Now we have torrential rain , if I was on my own here I'd go for a walk in it tbh .

If it comes here I'm stripping down to my jocks and sitting on a chair in my backyard

In the bed in a state of complete undress...reading a novel and my iPad propped up on my chest and very warm with the fan on (my bedroom is South-west facing so is a sun trap) - loving the heatwave - another scorcher of a day here in Dublin 7. 😎☀️☀️☀️🔥🔥🔥

I love the sun and warm weather - but at times I wish it would be a little cooler, especially at night...

No rain here, yet, Mam. I have the camera drone on standby for the first rain drop, lens set to extra zoom.

I think there's to be more rain during the night , you might be lucky yet !

It's lovely and cool here now , no fan on , windows and doors open , bliss..

Stood in torrential rain earlier, in work now, the relief of it all.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,408 ✭✭✭✭Sardonicat

I can sniff rain in the air, if you know what I mean. Bringing in the two lines of washing I have out.

Aye Sardi , I do . Great drying weather though !

Speaking of washing , highlight of the evening is two loads on the airer in the greenhouse 🙌

I can't get too specific, but I've gotten very sick of peoples attitude to covid recently...a party I was invited to, one group were going to come even though one of their number had covid.. "sure the rest of us are all vaccinated" ...and another gathering last night....a couple's adult son is positive.. living at home..and parents were saying they were going to the party...of course I didn't go to the gatherings....I have no intention of getting sick for other people's stupidity.

Supposedly Tralee has one of the lowest covid cases in the country....I think it's due to the fact that people just don't give a shiny shíte anymore and aren't getting tested......and breathe!!

It's poxy, i see there's a mass protest in an australian city going on and many seem decide to be getting decidedly blase about safety both of themselves and others as you described by those things you experienced, imo we'll be damn lucky not to have another locakdown this year, i always felt it would be next year before we could lighten up at all.

Tbh Grem, I cant see this delta variant leading to a lockdown... Leo already said he expects 4000 cases a day and a couple of hundred hospitalisations...that's won't be a huge stress on the HSE...so no lockdown...but there's talk of a new variant developing in England B.1.621 is it's sexy moniker....there's always a chance that a new variant will be vaccine resistant & the that's the fear for me....

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators, Regional West Moderators Posts: 60,482 Mod ✭✭✭✭Gremlinertia

Exactly, we're not fighting it cohesively so resistant variants are the obvious danger.. Frustrating and I for one am tired and jaded but still cautious as I can be..

Rome was fun, some great pizza and beer, and very few masks in sight. But thanks to the champion league final it looks like they will introduce a requirement to prove that you are vaccinated in order to enter indoor restaurants, bars etc on the 6th Aug.

Strange thing is that you cannot add a tip to any card payment, I literally paid for everything using apply pay as I had no Euros, and it was impossible to tip anyone, felt kinda guilty.

Sitting here eating left over Italian pizza, it is so so good.

Leftover pizza never sounded so tempting!.

The vaccines are our greatest weapon in this pandemic. I overheard 2 people talking recently about not feeling comfortable with outdoor dining. As is their right and I understand all about fear.

Coronavirus will be endemic in this country. We have to learn to live with it though and to trust in science and the amazing vaccines. We have 1300 cases a day yet society is partly open. That is because of the vaccines so another lockdown is highly highly unlikely.

This isn't 2020 it's 2021, and as Paul Reid said the Delta variant is our last (emphasis on last) big challenge.

About to get dressed after a delicious, cool hose down. Today is a 'Freedim Day' for me, so I've been up and tearing around since six trying to get essential chores done so myself and Mr. Sardi can head out Mt Brandon side as soon as the bus comes to collect Grumpy.

Yay for Sardi! Enjoy every well earned minute..

Paul Reid was talking absolute rubbish.

The WHO have already set a date in November for a worldwide meeting of its member health ministers.

As Mike Ryan said, the pathogens have the upper hand...it would be very naiive to think this is the end.... covid will mutate...it might, or might not be deadly... but it's the future pathogens that the WHO and health ministries are preparing for

In bed enjoying the cool breeze.

No plans for the day which is just perfect.

It's a delicious 17° according to my phone, I might actually manage to be somewhat productive today. 😁

    Happy enough with that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,952 ✭✭✭✭Mam of 4

It says 17° on my phone here too but when you're out in it , it feels a lot warmer tbh .

Coffee break time I think .

I thought it might alright 😐

That's something I've noticed the past week. It may actually be warmer or it could just 'feel' warmer. I found yesterday to be rather uncomfortable.

Unfortunately my phone is showing 24° ... think we have another day or 2 of this heat

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,401 ✭✭✭thomil

Balconyside with a coffee here, with a balmy 21.7 degrees according to my weather station and a nice breeze.

For the first time in a week, I don't feel like I'm boiling...

Good luck trying to figure me out. I haven't managed that myself yet!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,531 ✭✭✭✭Leg End Reject

20° here now and little to no chance of rain until next week.

Could be a bit of trouble in Dublin today, 2pm outside the Customs House & 7pm outside the GPO... The "Freedumb" brigade are taking over and a few from here are travelling up....a day like today will draw a big crowd...so we have a potential superspreader event....

Hopefully the Gardai come with big sticks

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,266 ✭✭✭✭smurfjed

    What are they protesting about?

I can’t decide if I want my air conditioner temp set at 22 or 24 degrees :):):)

    Don't get me started 😂

Basically the far right grifters marching for Freedom and the children...while asking for money and some of them not allowed near children ffs

I was in rathmines 30 mind ago and it was a humid 25 degrees. Back in Dundrum now and it's a fresh 18.5 degrees...the weather is a bit nuts!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,531 ✭✭✭✭Leg End Reject

There's a lovely fresh breeze here and it's cloudy. The dead heat and humidity seem to have disappeared at last.

Home after a fabulous day out. Lovely walk on country roads with wild flowers blooming on each side. A beach walk and even dappled my happy little tootsies in the Atlantic. Then back along the country roads for lunch and a stunning drive back. I've got sand an my toes for the first time in years! Gonna get Hrumpy hydrated and settled in front of the telly with the fan and have a little snooze - it's date night tonight and need to be rested

*subtle little Sardi letting us all know she's getting some tonight*
