Draft proposals that were circulated .

    1) No split season between club and county fixtures

2)Relegation in both League and Championship

3)Second teams in Intermediate and Junior competitions to be grouped together and not meeting counties with just one team until the knock out stages.

4)Later start to the League -1st weekend in March, with finals on the 1st weekend in May

    5) No intercounty games during May and June

    6) Championship to run from early July to finals in Croke Park in mid September.

    7) 2020 club championship to be completed by 7th March.

    8) 8 counties in Ulster now competing at inter county level , with Antrim and Down entering 2 teams.

Counties have until Jan 11 to return feedback , before the meeting of county Chair's and secretaries on Jan 13.

I assume this will all be looked at again. March isn't going to work. I'd prefer they'd look at a split season - it's going to very difficult to have league and championship for both Club and county this year again. Similarly underage club should be the priority over underage County.

Yes . Id imagine it will have to be looked at.
All waiting on the Government to decide.

Club will take precedence i think for underage. I think it will be another season of get the games played and the championships finished asap, without any County development squads 'getting in the way'

Latest statement from the Camogie Association after yesterday decision by the government :

"The Gaelic Games COVID Advisory Group met yesterday evening (February 10th) to consider the outcome of a meeting between the three Gaelic Games governing bodies (The Camogie Association, GAA and Ladies Gaelic Football Association) and representatives of the Irish Government, including the Minister of State for Sport, which took place earlier this week. The meeting was held to brief the governing bodies on the short-term prospects for a return to training and playing of our games.

The Government representatives clarified that intercounty Gaelic Games activity is not covered under the current Level 5 exemptions for elite sports. As such a return to intercounty training or games is not permitted under the current restrictions. It was also clear that there will not be any change to this position post-March 5th when the restrictions currently in place are reviewed.

It is the view of the Gaelic Games COVID Advisory Group that no on-field activity will be permitted, training or games, until Easter at the earliest. In the interim, it is expected that the Government will publish an updated “Living with COVID” plan and we expect that this will provide clarity before the end of February on when Clubs and Counties are likely to be allowed return to training and games in 2021. It should also provide clarity on when other off-field Club activities may be permitted to resume.

It is clear that this extended delay to the planned return of the intercounty season will have knock-on effects for both the intercounty and Club games programmes originally planned for 2021. As of now the Camogie Association have made no firm decisions on what competitions may or may not be facilitated in any revised fixture programme – such decisions will be a factor of how much time is made available to us, both for an intercounty season and for the broader participation levels that will be necessary for a meaningful Club season. While we have been preparing contingency plans for the Master Fixtures programme, we will not be able to take definitive decisions in this context until we have a clear picture of what restrictions we are likely to be operating under at various points in the year ahead.

Rest assured however, that once clarity is provided by Government and Public Health Authorities in both jurisdictions on the likely road ahead for society generally and sport in particular, the Camogie Association will follow with its own roadmap and plan for our own activities at both intercounty and Club level, that will cover whatever time is available to us for the remainder of the year.

We know these latest developments will come as a great disappointment to all those who are anxious to resume their Camogie and Gaelic Games involvement, be it on or off the field. While we remain in the midst of a deadly pandemic, there is significant cause for optimism that much better days lie ahead. The manner in which we have endured and overcome thus far, both as individual members and as an Association generally, has been praised by many and is a cause of great pride to us all. With your help we are certain that we will eventually have a fulfilling season at both club and county level in 2021, as we head in 2020.

Finally, we would again like to take this opportunity to thank our members, players, coaches, managers and officers at all levels for their patience and understanding of the current situation and for co-operating with all of the restrictions that have been put in place.

We want to remind you all again that we will prepare a revised Master Fixture Calendar and plan for the remainder of 2021 once a new Government road map for society and sport is made available."

It is late, its looking like the Club will be after Intercounty.
The Clubs will be rearing to go if they are training from the end of April , until their games start at the end of June/early July !

Looking at that , they will only be back training from April 19 (?) and first game is on 15 May !
Not much preparation time really... But at least everyone will be starting from a similar position ;) , well most will anyway ..Shhhh ;)

I see there’s a rule passed. A goalie can come up to take a penalty but can’t use a goalie hurley. That’s a silly rule as an outfielder could actually use a goalie hurley if they wanted in general play. There’s no such thing anyway technically as a goalie hurley, just a maximum width a hurley can be
A ref will hardly be bringing out a ruler to measure it

    Camogie is back this weekend.

A draft fixtures schedule was circulated to units in December and feedback sought. This feedback suggested 2 diametrically opposed preferences: –

As regards the scheduling for the season :

    1. Littlewoods Adult Inter County League followed by Inter County Championship, followed by AIB Club Championship
    2. Littlewoods Inter County League followed by AIB Club Championship, followed by Inter County Championship

The Ard Chomhairle decided on the following approach to scheduling adult National Fixtures:

Littlewoods Ireland Camogie Leagues – Commencing on 15th May
    AIB Club Championships
    All Ireland Inter County Championship

It is the intention of the Camogie Association to also run underage inter county championship competitions at under 16 and under 18 age groups when restrictions permit.

From 7th June (subject to the public health situation at the time), games will be permitted across the island of Ireland, ensuring that all camogie players will be able to play and represent their clubs.

Information on dates of these competitions will follow in coming days.

Given the fact that most club activity had ceased in August / September 2020, to consider running the inter county championship directly after the Littlewoods Ireland Camogie Leagues would mean that club players would miss out on almost a full year of Camogie.
It is important to provide playing opportunities to as many players as possible at all levels.
The Camogie Association facilitates 2nd County teams in inter county competitions
Age eligibility for underage players on adult teams
The Camogie Association primarily rely on colleagues in GAA for provision of training and playing facilities. There are limited numbers of facilities, particularly floodlit and all weather facilities in the winter months which would be available to Camogie club competition while also facilitating competitions in other Gaelic games codes.
Maintain high profile of Camogie activity across the remaining months of the year
    Scheduling of State exams

But of course - Not everyone is happy.

The Camogie association gave the County boards 2 options to pick from.
    1. Littlewoods Adult Inter County League followed by Inter County Championship, followed by AIB Club Championship
    2. Littlewoods Inter County League followed by AIB Club Championship, followed by Inter County Championship

County boards have to have their vote on either option registered by tomorrow Tues 11th.

    Cork arent happy -

Any idea if games will be streamed online?

All are on Littlewoods’ YouTube page live so I’d imagine the replay would be available too.

Nor should they be. Camogie has been more entertaining in 2021 than most hurling if I'm being honest. For once rule changes improved a sport.

THX for all the streaming. As a fan in the states it's been fantastic! Up the Cats!

And now after two cracking semi finals, that recieved token gesture mentions on RTE , we have the crazy decision to play the League final in Croke Park at 7.30 on a Sunday night !?!?!?!

    Really ....... Who decides this?
Why not Thurles ? Would that be easier on both counties and supporters?!

And cracking semi's they sure were. And spot on about the Token gestures. The Camogie Association could teach the the GAA a few things IMO. The young women in our lives & communities benefit so much by the example these athletes set. There's so many traps young women & girls can fall into & sport can provide self confidence and so much more.
When I see the viewing numbers, especially when there's no fans in attendance it makes me sad.
I for one really enjoyed the weekends semifinal action. I think someone forgot to tell them it wasn't Championship.

Huge thanks to the Camogie Association for streaming so many games that I'd never have had the chance to see.
Now that COVID-19 is mostly under control here in my area(Southern New England), I'm just getting back to trying to gauge the interest here for a local club.
I frequently get kids coming up to me & asking about what I'm doing while at my local wall(back of an unused school on the town square) & funny enough, the girls are often faster at picking up some of the skills I show them than the boys. They listen when I show them the basics. Especially when I try to break the ingrained habit of holding the hurl like a baseball bat. Not an easy task in a country where kids grow up with a baseball bat.
Also, now that lacrosse(yuk) has become more mainstream(was always a "rich kid sport" played only at private schools or wealthy districts) they recognize that playing a bit of camogie in the off season can really help w/their game. Soccer is huge in my town & it's the same thing as far as development & honing their skills.
Biggest barrier is $$. It's tough to convince parents to spend money on equipment for a sport they've never heard of. I always bring every hurl I own in case the kids are out & stop by any yard sales to pick up old hockey helmets & soccer cleets.
I've seen quite a few with some serious potential & just wish I could do more to help. We've tons of "Irish" pubs who I've approached about sponsorship & most have never heard of hurling let alone camogie. Anyway, just rambling. looking forward to the upcoming weekend. 7:30 does seem a bit crazy. ✌ðŸ¼

Anyone try the bamboo hurls? How do they compare w/Cultec sticks? Our heat & humidity does a number on ash & forget about winter. Ash cracks really fast when temps get below 0° Learned that the hard way breaking my favorite stick from B. Barcoe
