Update on fixtures , and the restart of playing :

The Camogie Association can now confirm the arrangements being made for national competitions for the remainder of 2020 in light of the disruptions to this year’s calendar as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
    • The 2020 Liberty Insurance All-Ireland Championships will take place between October – December 2020. The exact format and dates of these competitions will be finalised in the coming weeks. The competitions will begin on a round-robin basis with increased groups before progressing to the knockout stages. There will be no automatic promotion/relegation in the 2020 All-Ireland Championships.
    • The 2020 All-Ireland Under 16 Championships will take place between October – December 2020. The exact format and dates of these competitions will be finalised in the coming weeks.
    • The 2020/2021 AIB All-Ireland Club Championships will proceed as normal but with a revised calendar that will run into 2021. The exact format and dates of these competitions will be finalised in the coming weeks.
    • The 2020 Littlewoods Ireland Camogie Leagues which began in February have now been cancelled.
    • The 2020 Tesco All-Ireland Minor Championships which began in February have now been cancelled. However, in order to facilitate a programme of matches in a regional format, Minor competitions will take place on a Provincial basis in 2020 from October to December.
    • The National Competitions Management Committee will confirm competition entries for all competitions in the coming weeks.
    • The Association is continuing to work through options regarding underage structures and initiatives in 2020 and will provide an update on this in the coming weeks.
The Association wishes to acknowledge that the cancellation of many competitions is of great disappointment to those involved however due to these unprecedented times many such difficult decisions have had to be made. The health and safety of our members is of paramount importance and the ‘Safe Return to Gaelic Games’ plan offers a route back to activity, subject to the government timelines being achieved in the weeks and months ahead. We thank all of our members for their continued co-operation and support throughout this process.
We also wish to sincerely thank all of our competition sponsors for their support and understanding during this period and regarding the significant changes to this year’s calendar and competitions.
All dates and details are subject to change based on the latest advice from the Government Health Authorities and we will update our plans accordingly should this arise.

Group 1 the group of death anyway. One of champions Galway, Cork or Wexford to miss out

Youd imagine Kilkenny would qualify from Group 2.

Group 1 - I think it s between Cork and Galway.

Cork just that bit better than Clare here. Some nice working up the pitch by both sides, but have more confidence in the Cork players holding possession.

Fun breakdown here of Kilkenny’s performance in their last group game. Nice to have it compared to the usual GAA thing of just puckouts and shots.

Them vs Cork in the semis should be a great game.

Yeh it looks to be working off Google Drive (if you don’t have the app on your phone it won’t work prob)

Looks to be a mix of Live and Post-Match coding allowing for that depth.

Cork playing the better camogie at the first water break, started well, kilkenny still to find their feet.
    Some piir sides by Kiljenny.

Kilkenny come back into it and are up by a point at ht, enjoyable game. Only 40 seconds of 2 minutes injury time played for some reason.

    Kilkenny by 2.

But just as the in the first half, the ref blew up early, 2 minutes early.

Commentator mentioned it bot times that the stadium clock was not stopped for water breaks etc.

    Very strange.

    Close and enjoyable game.

It was a bit confusing alright.

The refs watch isnt stopped stopped for the Sos Uisce in camogie, but it is in hurling and gaelic football.

You'd think that Ger Canning and Marty Morrissey would know that !!!
Although Marty did announce that at the start of the second half of the Tipp Galway game.

Two enjoyable games but , i think the Tipp Galway game wasnt quite the same level as the Kilkenny Cork game.

    Kilkenny 2-10 1-11 Cork

Kilkenny really struggled to get up to game speed until the water break, and seemed to kick on them.
a clinical performance , grabbed 2 important goals, and showed great character to get back into it after Corks goal, and get over the line.
Cork didnt really click , missed some chances, and were caught badly for the 2 goals. And maybe if they didnt waste so many chances they would have beaten a Kilkenny side that didnt score for 21 mins in the second half (and only 1 from play in that half also!).
Ref was a bit finicky with the overcarrying rule , and a bit whistle happy.

    https://camogie.ie/news/report-cats-come-back-from-the-dead-to-claim-final-place/
From a personal point of view, it was amazing to see 3 of our club girls on the pitch and also one in the stand (injured)

    SCORERS FOR KILKENNY: D Gaule 0-7(6fs); A Dalton 1-1; M Walsh 1-0; M O’Connell 0-2

    SCORERS FOR CORK: C Sigerson 0-4(1f); O Cronin 0-3(fs); G O’Connor 1-0; A Thompson, K Mackey 0-2 each

    Galway 1-11
    Tipperary 0-8

Not as free flowing as the first Semi, with a gritty display from Galway enough to see them over the line against a sub par Tipp team.
Galway could have won by a lot more but the Tipp keeper ,Aine Slattery saved a penalty taken by opposing keeper Sarah Healy and made two other great saves to prevent goals .
Only 4 points from play from Tipperary, it was never going to be enough.

    SCORERS FOR GALWAY: C Dolan 1-3 (0-1 f, 0-1 45); O McGrath, S McGrath (1 45, 1 pen) 0-2 each; A O’Reilly, R Hennelly, N Hanniffy, N Kilkenny 0-1 each

    SCORERS FOR TIPPERARY: C Devane 0-6 (4fs); R Howard, S Fryday 0-1 each

In a sad sign of the times, theres a gofund me page set up for the Kilkenny senior team.

Just to hammer home the disparity if funding between hurling and camogie, the Kilkenny camogie board have set up a page to cover the costs associated with reaching the final.

Heres the link if anyone wants to donate.

    Saturday 5th December

    Intermediate Championship Final.

3:45 pm Antrim-- --Down Kingspan Breffni, Co. Cavan

    Premier Junior Championship

1:45 pm Armagh -- --Cavan Kingspan Breffni, Co. Cavan

In the first match of the day Armagh take on Cavan, as Armagh chase a first Premier Junior title since 1993, whilst Cavan are aiming to lift the Kay Mills Cup for the first time in what has already been a trophy-laden year for them, having won the Nancy Murray Cup just a few weeks ago.

In the Intermediate Final, Antrim and Down go head-to-head . Antrim are chasing a first title at this level since 2003, whilst Down are aiming for to bridge a gap that stretches back to 1998 since they claimed the Jack McGrath Cup.

Both games will be broadcast live on the RTÉ News Channel and online via the RTÉ Player worldwide and the BBC iPlayer.

Tough on the girls when it comes to the big day. They have to raise monies to cover gear and expenses.
Don't forget camogie isn't under the GAA umbrella(by their own choice).

The girls doing very well this year considering injuries/absentees

Really fancy Kilkenny for the final to be honest. Galway were fairly toothless against a relatively poor Tipperary side (in my opinion)

From the below PDF, if Kilkenny can smother Galway inside their 45m line, Galway will really struggle for scores

...and as always; I can't ever explain enough how low a percentage play the 'long' puckout is.

Kilkenny tried to smother them last year. They played very defensive, (especially off Galway POs) with only 4 forwards for most of the game. Looked ideal setup but they defended very poorly and didn't hurl well in general.
Did well to get through Vs Cork without scoring for last 21 mins??
I wouldn't write them off but I think they'll be under severe pressure

It’s all down to how KK defend tbh. If they defend well they’ll win it. They play deep in general anyway.

KK new manager this year so I wouldn’t be using last year’s final as a perfect sample.

Can’t be any write-offs as the match is rightly 50/50 in betting terms but if I was to lean on the 50/50 it would be to KK.

Galway very leaky for fouls too and Denise Gaule’s free scoring rate is ridic impressive.

In their semi against Cork, they held Cork to just 0-08 after the seven minute mark so it wasn’t about KK needing to score for a finish. When they had the lead they just needed to hold Cork off which they did well.

Brian Dowling was coach last year and presume he was responsible for setting up the gameplan.
Just think that Cork are far from the force they were a couple of years ago, without Cotter, an ageing Gemma and a quiet Thompsom for most of game and still they had KKs number, just couldn't score.
But yeah if KK defend well, they'll have a great chance, but they can't let Galway walk through for goals like last year.

Kilkenny stalwart - teak tough (and great fun in the prematch handshake) Collette dormer.
