Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Resistance is really becoming futile...A Majoras's Mask & the Star Gate thingy would go nicely on a shelf somewhere here...
I'll eventually get around to offering a proper print service. I'll stick an ad in the marketplace for retro related things, and probably something external for non retro stuff.
Next big print will be a Lightsaber, but i really will need to paint this one for it to look good.

Having a go at printing the Obi-Wan Kenobi Lightsaber from Star Wars: A New Hope.
About 80 percent printed now and its looking ok. Still need to sand it and do something about painting, but so far I'm very happy with it. There's room internally for a lighting systems should i want it in the future.
I wont be able to to it as nice as the properly prop replica below, but I'll get some colour on it eventually. Might skip the aged effect and paint it as it would have been new(much easier me thinks).

Yeah the leaf green plastic seems not too far off the original. I wonder is there an easy way to darken it without painting?0 -

Some guy/gal on thingiverse designed a nice and simple dock/stand for the Game Boy. Did one for the Color, Pocket and Original Game Boy.
Pretty nice and very stable if printed heavy. Might pick a more suitable colour for the next one

Just stumbled across this now, looks awesome chief!
If you ever get the files to print these out, name your price and I'll pay it!
They look pretty easy to print apart from a few overhangs. You'd need to paint them though. There are a few similar models knocking around, but not quite as nice as those ones.
Those actually look like the were 3D printed on a laser sintering or similar professional printer(shapeways maybe).0 -

Did a print of the Wingcrest/Royal Crest earlier.
I quite liked it, so went large and heavy with the next one
It needs a bit of sanding as it was printed in fairly low resolution to speed up the job, but I like the colour so probably won't paint it.

Is there much maintenance involved Steve?
Not really as I keep it tidy and clean as I go. There's a technique called the Atomic pull, if you do that every so often it keeps the inside of the nozzle clean(very important).
Might need to take the bottom section off and just make sure the electronics are tidy as sometimes bits of plastic end up down there.
Then it's a good idea to level the bed and print some cubes to to make sure the basics are all still aligned.
I've upgraded a lot of parts on it which reduces the maintenance(as well as improve print quality). The great thing about a 3d printer, you can print out most of the upgrades 0 -

I'm having a go at printing some miniature arcade machines. Quite a few failures and generally bad prints as a lot of the freely available 3d models are not print optimised :mad:

I've a candy cab in progress at the moment and I hope the repairs i made to the model help it print properly. There's a lot of support material in there as well in case your wondering what all the extra stuff is under the cpanel.

All done, went ok but will need some sanding and perhaps a little filler for some small imperfections.
Only real problem is the crt printed a bit small, but I can reprint that fairly quickly a bit bigger.
The plan is to print out some artwork for the cab and then a small print of a MAME screenshot using the HLSL settings to have it look like a proper crt image. Will see how it goes.0 -

True, although there's already a bezel on the crt model so might be just as handy to resize.
Speaking of 3d prints, had way too many failures today with dodgy models.

Playing around with some dodgy chemicals. Sure what else would you be doing early on a friday morning before breakfast
You can see there's a loss in detail as i left it in the vapour bath a bit too long, but on some prints this might a desired effect.
