Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

A right mixture tonight. The featured album was The Queen is Dead by The Smiths. He also played Freebird by Lynyrd Skynyrd (by request), Richard the Third by Supergrass, Stuck in A Moment by U2, Temple of Love by The Sisters of Mercy and finished with Honky Tonk Woman by the Rolling Stones.

    ‘Overkill’ by Motorhead!

    :D

Sounds terrible! Nothing wrong with Motorhead obviously but 60 mins is not even scratching at the surface of the surface esp if you've got to avoid scaring the horses.

Playing the likes of U2 is utterly redundant and wasting valuable time.

Did not get a chance tonight. Maybe tomorrow.

Its funny you mention U2...I'm listening to Planet Rock every day for the last few weeks ,and it always disappoints me when they play them too....Lizzy, Rory ,Mamas Boys, Gary, no problem....but U2..meh.....someone has to like them i suppose..:)

80s Rock themed night last night

JK.played Willy DeVille 'Assasin of love" ..a late night time favourite on Radio 2 and the pirates in around 1987. He admitted he played it from a vinyl copy of DeVille's solo album!!

    Tonight it's 90s rock.

When Green Day used to actually be a good bit of Craic, before all of that "jesus of suburbia" nonsense!

He played EMI by The Sex Pistols. I can't remember the last time I heard that particular song on the radio.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 73,276 ✭✭✭✭Welsh Megaman

‘Du Hast’ on RTE Radio One.

    Finally! :D

He also played a lesser known track by The Scorpions. A bit of Krautrock!

It was great to hear Firestarter by The Prodigy.

John also played Caroline by Status Quo, another song I have not heard in a while. He dedicated it to the late Ronan O'Rahilly, founder of offshore pirate Radio Caroline.

Unless he plays In Your Town in it's entirety then the whole thing will be a waste of time.

Let's not forget Bad to The Bone by George Thorogood.

It's been a diet of blues, heavy rock and heavy metal tonight.

Rory's version of Bullfrog Blues is great in spite of the fact that it has a f*cking drum solo.

    Rammstein on Radio One.

What a time to be alive.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,609 ✭✭✭ford fiesta

Aware he is already on 2XM. But in normal times, even just an hour per week of JK playing this stuff, on Radio 1 would be great.
Before Late Date on Friday / weekends or something!.

Rocky Mountain Way is a great tune. Reminds me of Liberty Rock Radio in GTA IV.

The playlist for each show seem to have a loose theme often depending on what the classic album is. Some nights are very indie and other nights are rock.
