Tomorrow’s side bet is in the Novice Stakes in Newcastle at 6.00 . Even money favourite YURI GAGARIN (expensive 3yo gelding) makes his debut and ticks plenty of boxes on paper but I like a Sea The Stars runner at this track so the 150/1 (PP , BF Sportsbook) about Brian Ellison’s SEA ME WIN makes appeal for a little each way poke .
Sire has a super strike / place rate here and the damsire has a place rate just shy of 40% .
9 runners is a bit of worry given that Angel Lane just ran at Southwell this evening but hopefully 8 go to post .

Angel Lane withdrawn as expected but Gosden has pulled one of his too . Just the 7 run now unfortunately . If one of the top 2 flop then there’s probably worse 33/1 shots to be on but shame about the 3 places

Swiss Army Officer , 10/1 into 7/2 and just failed in a photo . Race won by trainer / jockey combo that I backed in the previous race , coming 3rd . Love this game sometimes

Don’t know why the absence but he was worth following 2 years ago . Didn’t get to see the race but sounds like he was in touch after a mile so hopefully he’ll come on for it .

Gutted with another 2nd , MUZBID (“fast finishing”) at 20/1 . Close to being a proper good day but ended up empty handed , -6pts .

This could be the beginning of my first cliff horse in a while .
Was due to run at Kempton recently (at forecast of 20/1.... I would’ve had a right go at that) but opened up around 7s. Saw good support , halved in price and then got withdrawn .
Rattled up a hat trick over 7f at Kempton at the start of the year and gets that distance on polytrack for the first time since .
Drawn low , he likes to go forward and Josephine Gordon rides .
The fav , Agent Of Fortune should be winning this Classified Stakes race on paper but I can’t let Elusif go unbacked as I really feel he’ll pop up again under similar conditions .
Will watch the market tomorrow with interest (he opened 8s , out to 10s now) and he’s entered in a Class 7 handicap here on Thursday too , drawn 1 for that with same jockey down to ride .

Not what I was hoping for after almost 6 weeks but that’s how it goes . At the prices it just takes a few small things to fall right and the P&L looks a lot better . Hopefully that happens sooner rather than later ....

Keep the faith you are picking well. Is there a specific reason you don’t go each way? These flat races have photo finishes/tight wins a lot more than the jumps.

Most of my bets are in low grade handicaps where the motivation for connections to nick a place just isn’t there .
I back quite a few each day so going each way would also bring exposure to a level I wouldn’t really be happy at .
There’ll be times where I’ll have an ew bet under certain conditions but not often ..
