Well so far, they have (according to the IGN deconstruction of the trailers);

A Virus
Millions Dead
A quarantine zone set up by the military
The Military are "fighting back"
Millions dead or infected

It has to be either a zombie/ 28 day's later style game, or a alien invasion game (although the ant's trailer on their webpage apparently indicates a fungus infection or the release of spores or something.

The only way it could be alien related is if the "spores" are alien spores and these infect people and take over their minds/bodies. In that case, it may be more of a resistance fom style game rather than a traditional zombie game.

It could be something completely different though, nowhere does it say that the infected are violent, only that they are infected. Maybe the infected just die and the problem is the chaos that a worldwide epidemic creates.

However my limited knowledge of those spore diseases that get ants is that it takes over their minds. Just going to have to wait until the full trailer is released.

Actually, it was State of Emergency i was thinking of (which i really enjoyed btw) but urban Chaos: RR better suits what i'm hoping it will be (and i didn't make the Rocksteady connection until this thread!).

Isn't there another game spose to be coming out soon but kept getting delayed? Can't think of the name but the trailer started with a peaceful NY city and then sky scrapers start crashing. You play a guy trying to survive the aftermath. Whats the name of that one? Alos, when are the VGA's on?

I think that's I Am Alive. It's going to be a PSN thing, I think, from Ubisoft. I really would like to play a decent disaster movie game.

If it's Zombies, please let it be bleak. Walking dead style, with more zombies and less annoying characters. No stupid catchphrases when you kill one either. Or even better, World War Z style. Lets see Yonkers in full HD glory.

I didn't like Dead Island.

There has been a lot of speculation about The Last of Us' origin and plot since Sony's limited reveal last week, but it has consistently seemed clear that the game involves bullet ants, apocalyptic chaos and the Cordyceps fungus.

PlayStation Lifestyle has rummaged through the clues online and put together a slightly clearer picture of the game: The Last of Us' YouTube account was created in July 2006 (yes, more than five years ago and before the PS3 was a thing), and in the same month it released a research and development presentation about group-animal movements on the PS3. The research leader is involved heavily in stigmergy, a concept of swarm behavior, which is connected to bullet ants.

Yes, it all comes back to the ants. At the end of Sony's promo video (above), we can hear a series of clicking -- which is how bullet ants communicate with each other -- and then a high-pitched, inhuman scream -- which is how bullet ants call entire swarms to one area. The scream can be heard meters away, even by humans, PlayStation Lifestyle writes. In The Last of Us, Texas and New Mexico are infected, and bullet ants live just south of there, in Brazil's Atlantic Forest.

Looks like it could be pretty damn good. Glad to see Naughty Dog stepping away from Uncharted and exploring something different. Think it was time for them to explore something different. Post-apocalypse, with infected/mutants not the most original concept, but neither was platforming/shooter treasure hunter and Naughty Dog made it fresh and exciting. Any other developer I'd have said 'meh' but Naughty Dog changes it.

Its basically just another fecking zombie game. Only this time the zombies have mushrooms on their heads.

This genre has been done to death. Dead Island isnt even out a year and that was a huge disappointment. It will have to take a really good game for them to bring people back.

The fact its Naughty Dog is a good sign though. PS3 exclusives are usually done very well. Given its superior hardware
