Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Better than sitting on the bench surely? Unless we lose one or two he wouldn't be featuring too much.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,673 ✭✭✭AllGunsBlazing

Did you see him play at all last season? Shamed Zayed and North with his workrate and he definitely knows where the goal is. Every time he was brought on from the bench last year the team moved up a gear thanks to his enthusiasm. Not a first teamer yet, but an excellent impact sub who needs to be around a better calibre of player than will be found in the first division.

Honestly not that much. Haven't been around. He'd be behind Nielsen, Corcoran and Devaney anyway.

Starting every week is what he needs and what Harps will offer him.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,761 ✭✭✭AgileMyth

Oh and shaming north and zayed with his work rate is hardly an achievement. Two laziest bastards to pull on a rovers jersey. Aside from Ross Gaynor obviously.

32 goals in five games for Sligo Rovers in preseason. Bit of excitement about the town for the first time in a couple of years by the sounds of things.

Just as I had been getting the usual pre season optimism! Ah better to be brought to ground before it starts for a change!

Very good player, dont see him getting much a look in.

Shels fans what did yah think of jamie mc grath last night :) He was Forresters replacement but Forestter didnt leave.

Which guy was he? Where did he play? Didn't really notice anyone that wasn't a familiar face standing out.

Played in the middle, played in the AMF position. Cracking player.

he fits right in so your bang on with no noticing him.

Should be a good crowd in the Showgrounds for the Cork game. Great chance for Heary to introduce himself with a good win with the team playing good football.

Still rather be scoring goals than struggling.

We struggled against poor teams in preseason last year. You could see that the new signings weren't up to it. This year is different.

I'm quietly optimistic we can get back to Europe next season.
I agree regarding last season and the way the first round of games panned out, we looked in trouble from before the start.
However, too many people are getting ahead of themselves regarding the amount of goals scored in pre-season this year. These were mainly scored against junior sides and were to be expected.
Without playing good PD teams we don't realistically know how good the new team is.
    Still, in Heary I trust!

    Something not right about that.

Wexford just beat North End on penalties too. Bizarre game, finished 10 men for Wexford against 9 men for North End.

Graham Doyle won't have to face as many shots like Beary's opener for NE

Limerick fans on Twitter seemed pretty upset about his departure. I saw "future captain" mentioned quite a bit! Sounds like a decent signing for Galway.

Great signing. Badly needed after losing Barrett. Any other potential Galway signings? I'm a blow in and only started following the team last year!

Ian Sweeney (former Athlone winger) has played in the last few friendlies. He seems to be rated fairly highly.

The squad is actually coming together quite nicely now. I was getting worried for a while.

As things stand I'd expect us to look something like this on the first day of the season against Derry.
    Gleeson
    Horgan Oji Walsh Ludden
    Byrne/Sinnott O'Leary
    Shanahan Connolly Sweeney/Molloy
    Keegan/Curran

Don't really think it was ever in doubt, FAI were just going through their books with a fine tooth comb after the crap that was written in the papers.

It's evermore looking like Dalymount supposedly.

They did in their hole, the FAI delayed the license to make it look like they were investigating.

Though if you went with a tooth comb through most finances in the league, I wonder what you'd find..

Us Derry fans could only wish we would have Paddy back.

Bit of a waste of talent is our Paddy, moving from bench to bench. He'd be better back in the LoI, at least he'd be playing football.

Its hard to know really, I think its a bit healthier than a few years ago when it was Borrow as much money as you could from the bank -Win the league - Go Bust.

The top sides are definitely in better shape but that's down to them going to the wall and learning the hard way.

The bottom sides are just about hanging in there.

Magic and super glue seems to be holding the First Division sides together.

Sam Oji is a super signing for Galway. He was streets ahead of Stephen Folan for us. Gutted to be honest, relegation looking more likely by the day. :-(

-Borrow as much money as you could from the bank

-Hire a convict who single-handedly brought down one of the oldest banks in the world to run the club

-Abandon ship and leave him in sole control without any checks and balances

-Sign as many over-paid, injury-prone wasters as possible

-Hire a series of complete chancers as manager

    - Finish 8th

    - Go Bust.

Haha that's the best/funniest summary I have heard :D Hope Galway does well this year! No derbies for Rovers for a long time all of a sudden we have 2!

Yeah it's hard to know, but you could be pretty confident that the FAI are not using a fine tooth comb or even half a glance, because if they did..

Indeed what does it take to get a FD licence?

The whole thing is a mess and a farce. We have Cabinteely joining the first division 3 weeks before the league kicks off.

Even with them joining the first division only has 8 teams.

Bray only finding out today that they can play in it.

Limerick don't know where they will be playing their games even though having a ground you can play in is a necessity to getting a league licence.

It seems half the players in the league aren't allowed play on the first day of the season so guys like Keith Fahey cant play in what should be a curtain opening show off what's good about the league Dublin Derby because he picked up too many cards last fecking season!

It easy to say there's no money in the league but getting the very basics right would be a start.

In terms of the FD it would be much easier for their to be a regionalised FD cutting down on travel expenses for cash strapped sides. We could have a proper pyramid structure from Junior to Provincial to FD. The way the FD is set up now doesn't attract any side to want to play in it. Why would any club leave a well run junior league to trek around the country to play the same side 4 times a year.

A pitch and a set of jerseys.
