Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I reached out to PS on chat, agent was helpful but has no information as they're tech support. Asked him to escalate it. Lovely chap emails me half an hour later, confirming the same but stated that they are making more Move Controllers, but only retail can advise when, which is funny because retail are in the same boat as the consumers, ie: they're not being told anything.

So the Beat Saber update came in last night, with the new UI, song menus and DLC. The UI does feel sharper and smoother, but I'm not liking the categories for songs now. It's a pain to jump out of one folder, into another, realise the song you want is not in that one, back out, repeat. I'm sure it's some legal part with the new songs having to have their own area for now, but I hope they bring in the option to view all songs in the 1 list.

Speaking of, the preview of the new DLC. Seems to be a gaming theme from what I can tell. Some of them sound like pure noise, but I didn't like all the original songs first time either, so they may grow on me. Annoying this is the link to but them is there, but goes nowhere. 12 hours and waiting... Don't know if my forearm muscles are up for it though!

Littlestar VR Cinema have allowed media server streaming now. So you can stream 3D movies to your PS4 from your PC now. Only works with MP4 files it seems. Does anyone have a quick guide to converting .264 to this format?

I tried it with the mp4 and it was perfect, finally our own cinema without the hassle of usb sticks.

It costs €2 p/m to do it though.

I've never tried "cinema" with my Rift. Is it actually good? Sounds weird.

Yep it's pretty damn good. Especially 3D movies

You can play 3D BluRays direct on the PSVR, it's great if you don't have a 3D TV.

EDIT: sorry I see you mentioned Rift, yeah you can watch movies using Virtual Desktop or BigScreen.

I watch most 3D movies these days on my Oculus Go and it's literally like sitting in the cinema as you can see all the seats around you, plus the on-screen lights actually reflect off the surrounding walls to create the ultimate immersion.

Had a blast on Crisis VRigade tonight. Simple, yet difficult Time Crisis type shooter, lot of fun if you have the Aim. Certainly not the longest but for 5 squids you can't go wrong

Seems like nobody on here is talking about Borderlands 2 on PSVR lately. Is it because we're all too cheap to play full price for it? :pac:

I've played too much of it over the years. I'm not playing it again.

It's one series that never appealed to me in the slightest, still doesn't even in VR :D

And as if by magic it's now down to 30eur on the PSN Store :-)

Just read that Angry Birds is releasing on PSVR on the 26th of this month, should be good if the price is right.

Does anyone know when the Aim Controllers will be back - or had any success buying one recently (at a reasonable price)?

I saw GameStop had them online for 70 with firewall

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,644 ✭✭✭Asmodean

Yeah the gamestop bundle is the best value. There are some left in the brick and mortar shops or you can order online. Cex have the controller by itself for 50 and then firewall for 20 so it's the same price but obv second hand. A good few have them in stock.

So Creed: Rise to Glory is good fun. It's accurate enough, and even the training can take it out of you. Only fought 2 guys so far, but both were entertaining enough. Going by how I performed, the later fights are going to be tough!

No Man's Sky PSVR is official now. Update in the summer.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,861 ✭✭✭✭mrcheez

Haven't played original yet. It's good?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,585 ✭✭✭Jerichoholic

It's very good, you can lose years playing it now. In VR I don't know if I'll ever ever stop playing it.

Finally a game he likes! :p

Hmm I'm kinda avoiding huge games where I can in order to get through my backlog so wouldn't normally be interested in something like this, but I guess I could grab a cheap copy and dedicate a week or so to it :)

I bought it on release and put a couple of weeks into it, then dropped it.
Played it intermittently since then, but this will certainly spur me on to start from scratch, something I can lose myself in to be sure.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,644 ✭✭✭Asmodean

Goddamn, I can't wait. Like others I played it in drips and drabs when it was first released but after they released the NEXT update I got addicted. Must have put a good 30 0r 40 hours into it when I had a couple of weeks off over the Summer.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,861 ✭✭✭✭mrcheez

Just bought a like-new copy of No Man's Sky in Cex for €12.

Cheapest as far as I can see.

Better get em fast while at this price.

  • Hyped for this!

Sony went all out VR in that State of Play presentation. There were more VR games than non VR. They are 100% behind VR now finally.

NOW JUST GIVE ME GTA V VR

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,280 ✭✭✭✭Potential-Monke

I've been waiting for the PSVR for NMS, gave it a good 60+ hours on launch, loved it. PLayed a bit since the NEXT update, but stopped before the underwater update. Said I'd wait for the VR update before going back to it, so delighted it's finally coming! Think i'll get lost in it, and time to start yet another playthrough! Or maybe I'll make shapes on the current one and get to the centre before the VR update...

Anyway, Creed: Rise to Glory is great fun. Only played a bit of it, but it's quite physically demanding, especially if you do all the training inbetween fights.

I'm going to start again in VR, I got a little bored after the last update constantly having no room for stuff and running out of fuel all the time.

  • I've been playing Borderlands 2 VR with the PS4 Controller. Incredibly immersive and works really well.
Slow mo in VR with a double barrel shotgun never gets old :)
Breaths new life into the game.

Next up is Astrobot but saving that for a while

I assume most already have it but I've a spare code for Worlds if anyone wants it?

How many different rounds/scenes is there in the full Astro Bot game?

5 different “worlds” with 5 levels each (last level is normally the boss fight). I’m not a big platforming fan but I couldn’t get the smile off my face playing it, it’s incredible :)

Plus a bonus level per world if you find the chameleon on each level.

Fan blowing on you is an excellent preventative for motion sickness

    What have you played already?
Fan blowing in the face, playing it in a cold room with fresh air/window open helped me loads until I had my VR legs properly.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,861 ✭✭✭✭mrcheez

Top tip btw: My fan is attached to a smart plug that is controlled via my Echo Dot (Amazon Alexa).

    "Alexa switch on fan"

This allows you to switch on/off the fan as required mid-game without having to take off the headset as sometimes you no longer need the fan when the temperature drops in the evening and start shivering because it's too cold!

Also handy for dimming lights when starting a VR session if lights are connected.

Nope it's definitely not. People have been saying this for months. The feeling of the breeze tricks your brain into thinking that your body is actually moving so it's not receiving mixed signals and as a result the motion sickness is lessened.
