Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Harlequins show what they can do with a 49-17 thumping of Wasps at the Ricoh Arena. Surprised that Wasps capitulated. Consistency a big issue with a lot of the teams in the Premiership.

Relegation from the Premiership is set to be officially scrapped in mid-season following a Rugby Football Union Council vote on Friday to approve a proposed expansion to 13 teams from 2021-22

    From Rob Kitson

Totally understandable, many sides in the championship are looking like they cannot start the season due to covid restrictions and furlough....the gap was already big..now it's a chasm.
They want a Top 14 league...and then they'll ring fence it

To the surprise of absolutely f*cking no one.

To be fair, relegation should 100% be scrapped this year. But promotion also should be.

    Can't have that though.

    Decision taken now, it seems.

It was inevitable, but relegation being scrapped was the right call - given the number of cancelled fixtures it would have been madness to keep it.

Promotion on the other hand ... will be interesting if they suffer many cancelled Champ fixtures or whatever, what line they come up with to ensure Saracens come back up no matter what.

My bet would be that any cancelled fixtures will be given as walkovers to Sarries under the guise that they had the ability to field teams but the other team didn't, and at some point if Saracens have a comfortable gap at the top of the table the league will be called early. Or some form of similar shenanigans.

Craig Doyle : "great scorers from the men from the west. Carrerras from cordoba, in the west of Argentina... and heenan from connacht in the west of Ireland"

Ermmmm, sorry Craig, I've got news for you.....

Why are Exeter so crap this year?..

They can't blame lack of front line players away on test duty

Three red cards in the Wasps Leicester game.

And the Exeter - Saints game ends with this.

    Dodgy

    Any evidence he moved forward?

That’s a horrific call from the ref, there’s no way he could see both the charge and the kicker.
Looked like Simmonds shimmied his shoulders but in that case Biggar would have every kick close to charged.

He does appear take a small step towards the ball before stopping again

Exeter coach accepts that Simmonds had started his run and referee made the right call.

Meltdown from London Irish in the opening 10 minutes if their game Vs Bristol. They actually have a man advantage after a Bristol played was yellow'd for a tip tackle.

Not Nots have tried to speed up the play due to their extra man and have instead managed to have two passes intercepted and give away two long distance intercept trys.

Bristol end their sin bin period having scored 17 points.

The Bristol back 3 have made 231 meters between them in the 1st half

London Irish haven’t been great but Bristol are always a joy to watch.

Combination of Bristol taking off their best players and Irish bringing on theirs.

    What. A. Game.

That was a genuinely great game to watch as a neutral.

Simple pass at the end and LI should have won it. Phipps will be replaying that in his mind for a while, I'm sure.

Great game to watch. Thought the final pass was very poor as opposed to Phipps’ fault. The London Irish player had Jackson and Phipps to hit and he chucked it towards the floor.

Oh, for sure, didn't mean to imply it was Phipp's fault. Just he'll be thinking what if for a while.

Great to see Seanie playing well when he came on through he was gonna score a try near the end was still making inches with about 4 Bristol players trying to stop him.

He did well on the third try, lovely contact and offload. I had my doubts he would ever play again, anything now is bonus territory, great to see.

Another red in the premiership this even.

    Yeandle sent off for exeter

For exactly the same thing as lots of the other reds. Beyond silly players keep doing it.

Pirates leading Saracens 25-17 late in the game.

17-12 in the Quins - Northampton game with only 13 minutes gone. Defending optional, but it's certainly entertaining!

Some great attacking plays in it.

Perfect weather and two teams who like to throw it about

Real shame that offload was a smidge forward. Would have been a cracking try.

  • Subscribers Posts: 41,830 ✭✭✭✭sydthebeat

I'm also highly impressed with the reffing of the game. Pearce has no problem saying if he's wrong or he didn't see something, and the whole team are working well together.

And Marcus Smith is simply class

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,415 ✭✭✭Dave_The_Sheep

Saints, playing 15 against 13 with a scrum in front of the posts in the opposition 22, manage to a) not score and then b) turn the ball over and then c) lose 50 metres and finally d) knock the ball on, losing possession.

    Genuinely awful last few minutes.

Sale beat Wasps despite 4 Yellow cards in second half.
Bristol having been dominated by Harlequins for most of second half score 2 late tries to steal win at the death.
