Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

A book so he can learn Chinese.
So when they take over the country in 2025 he’ll have a useful advantage.

A really decent pair of binoculars and a tripod.

A good pair of binoculars are handy even for star gazing and are much more practical than a telescope.

Any suggestions? I did think about that idea for my 12 year old.

Oh well, give me an easy life and a peaceful death.

No, but if you popped over to the Astronomy forum I'm sure you'd get good advice.

If you're getting your daughter an e scooter, then logic dictates you get your son a scrambler bike or a piebald , or make him drink 6 pints of Guinness.

Gaming seems to be the big deal. Round here anyway.
Gaming chairs(office chairs), headsets with microphone, gamers stickers for the wall or bedroom door. Led strip lights for around the tv. Can get them on Wish.

Can't help with the sports, no interest in sports round here.

Xbox Series S. If you can get one. Or a Series X if you can afford it/get one. An Xbox Digital Gift Card is always welcome to a Xbox gamer. As mentioned above, a gaming chair of some sort if needed. Gamers are the easiest people to buy presents for, and unlike a lot of people we wholeheartedly welcome gift cards for gaming purchases.

What kind of son do you want. What kind of frie ds do you want him to have.

Get him a telescope and he can sell it for crack at 15 or you could just get him a Playstation 5 and he can have normal friends.

Try hard parents have drug addicts. Dont forget that. Teach him to be cool not a smackhead loser.

Nah, surely it will be the Russians or possibly a new caliphate.

I was given a Teach Yourself Russian book when I was twelve. Had the Cyrillic alphabet learned off by evening time and have never forgotten it since. Can read signs with ease etc in Bulgaria, Russia, Serbia, Montenegro, etc. Had the numerals mastered by Stevens' Day, and built myself enough vocabulary and verbs to shout for help when stuck in a broken lift in Ukraine 6 years later in 1979. :D

No chance the chinese or russians or yanks will take over this country. It will be the Eskimos with their polar bear lackeys that will overun this country. Thats why we need to stop them at the pass. Oh the pass is the gap, but gap doesn't sound exciting unless your filling it. Remember folks the eskimos

You could get him something for playing out doors with maybe a drone, or a tent, but you should get him something that takes him outdoors so you can enjoy it too. Try get him away from the computer stuff and more of the active stuff. That way he won't end up on boards in the future

A paint brush and paint was pretty cool thing to have back in April. Maybe you could get him a sweeping brush.at 11 years I'm sure he'd have no bother using it.

You could give it to him early, like next Monday morning. 1st day of school closed.unions will likely get their way and have school's shut for remainder of year anyway,so he'd have the whole place and much more swept.

This is just a smallish gift but if he likes sport you could get him a baseball cap with his favourite team on it. Once seen as a very 'yank' thing a lot more kids and Irish people in general are wearing them now. They are very useful for keeping the rain off (which is why it's surprising to me it's taken so long for them to catch on here, but then Irish people have always had a strange complex about hats, scarves, umbrellas, basically any useful accessory). And the sun for those 3 days a year we get it. Handy too to pop it on when you dont feel like combing your hair.

Fanatics UK, JD sports or the teams official online store will have them.

Get New Era brand they're the best, Nike ones are good too. Snapbacks or velcro/adjustable strap ones will fit any size head. He'll probably fit the adult size fine unless he's on the small size for a 12 year old.

Wool/beanie hats are good for winter too but they tend to get lost easily as they are removed indoors so I wouldn't spend more than a 5er on one for a 12 year old.

While apple watches etc have become popular a young man should own a half decent watch, a normal one that just tells the time and doesn't need to be charged. Timex do good quality ones for reasonable prices, the Timex EU site has them. The digital T80 is cool. he's possibly too young to appreciate the retro vibe but I think any 12 year old boy would like the black Pac man one that plays the video game tune, they also have analog ones like the expedition, navi and weekender too which are classics but a bit dearer. Just dont go over 38 mm for a boy his size.

Some useful techie type stocking stuffers: extra long 2 metre phone charging cable or USB power bank, wireless mouse or mouse and keyboard set for laptop.

A few years ago we got my niece a game called 'Don't be a Donkey' and we all played it at Christmas that year and last and it was great fun we all played it, we saw it on one of those toy review programs. It involves cards, wearing donkey ears and nose and diving for plastic carrots to avoid being the donkey. Highly recommend.
