Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

What about the first time ball to Rooney that he fluffed?

It was such a bad ball that even a world class player like Rooney couldn't even control it ;)

Stones and Jagielka really need to get up the pitch quicker, the diamond demands them to be the width.

Get Mrs Crinklewood on there, she'll supply the width #dinnerbitch

At times Rooney looks like a drunk in a pub car park when he receives the ball. That was better though :)

Jags is on the bench ?

Can Rooney kick a ball properly?

    Baines  :o

    HT 0-0, a victory for BBC1

Love to know what Hodgson said regarding Henderson, he's stayed very deep. For Liverpool he will get past the striker, nothing like that so far tonight.

That was a good save by the Swiss goalkeeper.

Good save there by Swiss keeper from Jones, has a 0-0 written all over it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,001 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

    Unlucky from Jones there.

Interesting to look at though, when they each have their spells of possession, the swiss players release the ball in about half the time the English players do.

It looks like more often than not the Swiss already know where they're going to pass to before they receive it, where the English always need to get the ball, look around and then decide.

    Switzerland awful. England awful.

John Stones really is not a right back. Hodgson is doing him a disservice by playing him there

I genuinely didnt know Henderson was playing until I just looked at the teams. Anonymous.

As a Liverpool fan, I'm delighted to hear this. Let him save himself for the weekend!

He's not allowed to go forward and play his natural game...being forced to stay deep totally takes him out of the game. Very odd decision.

I guess they just really don't have any defensive midfield options..

Delph not doing that bad now he has settled his nerves.
OptaJoe: 100% - Fabian Delph completed all 26 of his passes in the first half vs Switzerland. Introduction.

"We almost conceded in the first half, but we don't want to show that again"

Great little microcosm of England's lack of ability to be properly critical of themselves.

A proper fullbacks finish there. :pac:

    Sterling playing very poor

That was good play from England there. Poor from Sterling at the end though

England haven't been too bad going forward. Look well dodgy at the back though.

Shinned it. Luckily for England it still found the corner.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,500 ✭✭✭Fuzzy_Dunlop

Much better from Sterling and Rooney there. put away by Welbeck with the ball bobbling a bit

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,133 ✭✭✭Stevecw

Nice ball by Sterling tho. Switz might wake up now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,783 ✭✭✭✭Francie Barrett

Fairly confident England will sit back and blow it.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 40,061 ✭✭✭✭Harry Palmr

Unless the whistle goes you keep playing.

    Phil Jones stretching looks dodgy

Way offside there! Ref/England got lucky

Handball by Cahill actually, but it shouldn't have been played anyway.

James Milner for Wilshire - one mediocrity replaces another.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,984 ✭✭✭Soups123

Sterling just showed Wellbeck how to cross a ball to the in running player.

And Welbeck showed him how to finish from 6 yards

Wilshire off for a fag break!

Jesus Christ I've never seen such a non existent midfield, especially Hendo and Jack
