Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

My first bill was due to be issued around March 25th received this on the 8th of April could not open it from the website so got in touch with them and requested an email copy which they sent immediately and was also able to view the bill online later that day.
D/D not due to be taken until the 28th May which is almost 3 x weeks from bill date.

So far no major issues with them, they are not the cheapest out there at the moment.... my contract is not up until next Feb so will see how prices are then.

Just about to switch to this firm from Energia, until I read all this.

Back to Bonkers and Switcher.ie for me.

I'd consider late bills, late payment dates and the website not working to be relatively major issues myself!

    What will you do next??
My first bill is due next week so will be interesting to see how it goes.... I have submitted 2 x readings through ESB networks as the Iberdrola app only allowed me to submit 1 x reading....

Apologies for the late reply. So I am now "Iberdrola free", I've moved on to another energy provider.

Further to my several attempts to raise a complaint with CRU, I have had feedback from Iberdrola to all my unanswered emails.

1- They have fixed some parts of their web portal, you can now view and download bills (and apparently submit readings, but I haven't tried that). The mobile app is still the same, pretty bad.
2- They did credit me compensations for the breaches in process according to their Code of Practice and T&Cs.
3- They have waived the early exit fees (€50 euro for each energy).

That said if you were to move now and pay the early exit fees, you could still save between €100 and €200 over the next 12 months with the current offers of other providers.

It is good you got sorted anyway and they addressed your issues...
I am still with them have received my first bill and they have taken payment etc, will see how it goes over the 12 months and compare rates then.

Went with them - definitely low rate but a disaster in terms of service and billing. Got a recent bill for 4 times of what should be. I am in dispute with them about their estimated extravagant readings. Dont touch them.

Did you submit Meter Readings either through their app , online or ESB Networks ???
My latest bill was issued with the latest meter reading I submitted

I was given an estimate by them which they say came from ESB Networks and I had to photograph the meter (twice for day/night), send it to them, who in turn send to Networks. Iberdrola inform me it is unlikely to be settled by the pay date and to have enough money in my account to cover a bill for nearly half my years use.

How much of a difference is there between the estimate and the Meter ??
Are you saying that the Current Meter Reading is lower than the Estimate or ???

Update My situation with Iberdrola has been resolved and I look forward to now starting a new page on a positive note. Also, their rates are extremely competitive - there are larger businesses who have much higher rates and will be delighted to welcome Iberdrola as a supplier

Iberdrola have just renagued on cancelling my present bill - even though I had an expectation to this effect. The bill was for 1300 kWh, even though I used 250 kWh. I meter it with Smappee and their estimate represents 50% of my annual use. The Networks say they are not responsible for the ridiculous estimate.

The only way I eventually got anything kinda sorted (it took months and I eventually ended the contract early) was to raise an official complaint through their service desk and to hassle them.

Yes, my meter reading if recorded would show circa 240 units as compared to an estimate of 1300. I am also following up with ESB Networks - as they might be culpable - Iberbrola being a new entrant, etc.

If you are a customer I strongly encourage you to check you most recent bill to see if you got the agreed discount.

My last gas bill had only 12% discount instead of 18% for which I signed on for.

My rates are fine - its the ridiculous amount of estimated units that I was billed.

At this point I feel I need to warn people about this provider.

My Gas bill has the wrong discount amount and customer service is giving me the run around and promises that it should be fixed with the next bill which they just now have pushed back another month.

My Electricity bill is wrong as they have charged me for units, they previously charged me for again. Instead of using the last meter reading they billed me for they are billing me for a made-up lower reading so that I am paying for units they previously already charged me for. Sure, it's only 11 units but it's the principle.

Customer service again not helpful at all.

    Thanks for the warnings,
I was going to sign up with them but thought I'd search boards first.
    Sounds like a nightmare

14 days after I logged a formal complaint and demanded that they escalate it to their Head of Customer Experience I got a "we have opened a complaint file today" (despite me having a complaint number) and a promise that the next bill will have a the a refund for the overbilling.

Next bill issued the next day and nope no refund either.

I think I am going to eat the 100€ early termination fee and switch over to Energia, seems that even with the fee I will still save 75€ a year and get decent customer service.

    Exit fee only €50

It's 100€ if you have dual energy (gas and electricity) as the 50€ is per fuel type.

Ok my mistake ! Hope you get sorted.
I am with them for Electricity since Feb this year so far all going well bills are produced on the reading I give prior to bill date.
    Good luck

My contract will expire soon also. Can't wait to be shot of them.

A year later, and literally none of the problems I raised with them were resolved, not one email replied to, never received a call back, and customer service is appalling generally.

A truly horrendous company to deal with, and I've dealt with Eir.

I moved away from them in July willing to eat the 100€ exit fee and as Energia was offering 40€ cashback and on my usage, it would end up the same money in year a hear.

I am still waiting for my final bill.

I asked them 4 times, advising them I am not comfortable to owe them 100€ for so long and I am getting nothing back from them.

Now I am thinking to just pay it and be done with it, this is just a joke.

They've not managed to generate my last electricity bill yet, weeks after leaving

Energia have sent me the same welcome letter four times - once via their accounts system online and three times in paper - so I may have just changed to the same crap elsewhere!

I am waiting since July for my final bill so get ready for a wait.

No idea how they cannot do a final bill especially if one owes the leaving fee.

I have resolved my metering issues with Iberdrola and am staying with them. I can now recommend them to others as I feel customer service is improved and their rates are competitive. They are also way ahead of others in terms of their use of renewable energy - wind (very big offshore), solar, H2.

I didn't think it ever made sense to stay with the same company?
I got a 33% discount on the unit rate and the standing charge was similar, when I switched to Iberdrola.

When it goes back up to full unit rate, I'll just move to get the next discount.

This seems to be 100% true.
Just set a reminder on your online calendar for 12 or 13 months from when you switch to a new provider and just switch again.
All their models appear to be based on customer inertia, with zero reward for loyalty after the initial moving year.

On topic, I switched to Iberdrola 12 months ago, I have had no issues. Gas and Electricity continue to flow and I continue to Direct Debit but I am still switching, purely for the reasons outlined above.

Energia are currently cheaper and also 100% renewable. This will likely change in a years time. No point being loyal to a company if someone else is cheaper.

Read this Bloomberg report and you will see their impressive investments in renewables.

Also, I did a full analysis for myself (rather than the simplified analysis on switching websites) and it was the best deal for me.

Has anyone been hassled by this lot passing your number on to factoring companies despite not issuing a final bill for gas. Unsurprisingly they owed me money on elecricity and will owe me on gas too

Yes I have given this gang bad and good reviews in the past depending on how I was getting on with them. I am now at an all time low with them - they are failing to put me on the correct tariff since the start of the year and are thus overcharging me about 20%. Their utterances to correct the situation mean nothing. I thus advise, stay away and mea culpable for any good review I gave them.

so this lovely bunch have decided to significantly up their prices! Does that mean we can get out of the contract with them sooner without penalty, or have they provisions in the contract that allows them to change the price any time they want?!
We're changing our energy prices on 26th July 2021

This is due to a number of market factors leading to increased wholesale prices, which are outside of our control.

Our electricity prices are increasing by 12.5% and gas prices are increasing by 8.5% on 26th July 2021.

We hope that you appreciate our efforts and commitment to transparency by keeping you fully informed about our prices.

At Iberdrola we are committed to bringing you a cleaner energy future, which is why all of our electricity tariffs are 100% green.

Thanks for being an Iberdrola customer.

Usually they can up the prices as they see fit, once they give you notice.

Your choices are suck it up until your contract expires or terminate and pay the early termination fee, which will be detailed in your contract.

You basically need to get out the contract you have and read the fine print. Its usually €50 early termination fee but you'd have to check it as they can be different.

Price upping for phone contracts usually means you can switch penalty free. With the price increase are iberola more expensive now?

The majority of electricity price plans give you a discount percentage off of the "Standard Variable rate".

So, your "33% discount" is still 33% after the price rise but the "Standard Variable rate" is allowed to increase from say 22c to 24c. So you now have 33% off of 24c instead of 33% off of 22c.

Thats normal practice in the Irish electricity market and you are still locked into that provider for the duration of your contract eventhough they have increased you effective price... unless you are willing to pay the early termination fee.

There are a few plans that give you a fixed rate for 12 months but the majority are variable. You'd need to check your contract to be sure.
