I knew Latifi was bad but didn't think it could be that embarrassing. Half a second a lap slower than Kubica would have done, unbelievable.

The glossy black paint on the Mercedes will be a fingerprint magnet. I hate glossy black.

Ferrari are even worse than I thought, shockingly bad. Hard to see them putting the world to rights in one fell swoop at Hungary, likely the whole season is a writeoff for them!

Ferrari will need to bring their upgrade package to Silverstone.

Jesus Christ Ferrari are a shambles altogether. Good showing for McLaren. Hopefully Verstappen can do something starting with the Mediums.

Oh poor Seb, having to wait to get weighed. Ted made it sound like he had a mechanical failure.

Its painful being a Ferrari fan, its like 2005 all over again.
If only Mercedes engines had their 2005 unreliability to spice things up a bit.

Ferrari may as well forget about 2020. Mclaren and racing point ahead of them in pace, possibly even Renault.

Max starting on mediums at least gives a variable for tomorrow.

Ferrari seem to be in all sorts of trouble at the minute, Leclerc was very unhappy on the radio at the end. Excellent final lap from Albon. The wife was saying to watch out for him these last few years and I think she's right, he's really starting to shine.

Bottas gets pole and has an off, he looks unconvincing as ever. Hamilton to beat him comfortably tomorrow I reckon.

Cracking lap from Norris to grab P4. Stroll all over the place, he can't qualify for ****

Headsup for anyone with a free afternoon/evening. Leave on the Sky Sports F1 channel for F2 race next and followed by IndyCar on the Indianapolis road course. Expecting a good race in the F2, less so from the IndyCar. :pac:

    So
    @MercedesAMGF1
are 3 tenths faster than last year,
    @Max33Verstappen
almost same time as last year, Ferrari 9 tenths slower than last year...

Makes you wonder how badly Ferrari were cheating with their engine last year!

Norris just on sky live getting a phone from Zak stating it is the crown prince. Lol

Jesus Mercedes have now tied the all-time record for most 1-2 Qualis. Really demonstrates how massive their dominance has been.

I hope Sainz included a get out clause in his Ferrari contract...
Super lap by Lando. What a job Zak Brown is doing at McLaren.

Does that count their all time F1 appearances or just 2010 -Present?

A key element of Rosberg beating Hamilton was Rosberg creating a yellow flag in Monaco after he had set a faster time than Hamilton. Bottas might be ready to play the mind games this year.

Hamilton under investigation for now slowing under yellow flags, possible grid penalty.

Would remove his best time, would still be second with time set in first attempt

He was barely 2 seconds behind Bottas on the road, its hard to see how they would have got the yellow flags out in time for him to see them? Tracklimits could see that lap cancelled but as mentioned his next best lap is still 2nd.

Both of Lewis quick laps could be deleted...

Personally from watching it live I thought he breached track limits on the first one, but not on the 2nd one, though the 2nd one was very marginal!

Jesus, the Merc is another animal this year.

Bottas doing his usual false hope for us all, he starts strong then falls off. His lap was great today but I still think he has nothing on Hamilton.

Hopefully we get a short season so we don't have to deal with this for too long...

They changed the rules a couple of months ago so that the teams have to use the same chassis next year, as a cost saving measure. So we've got a year and a half of this to look forward to.

Interesting reasoning they gave for not penalising him for ignoring the yellow flags.
"The video footage confirmed that there have been yellow flags and green light panels at the same time and therefore conflicting signals were shown to the driver.

Surely in the event that both yellow and green flags are shown, the yellow takes precedence? That's a pretty dangerous precedent to set from a safety point of view.

    Yup, that's correct.

I guess we can only hope that some cars have a good development curve to go through.

There is a token system for upgrades, a bit like the engine tokens from a few years ago, some items cannot be upgraded without using tokens from this first GP and the rest of the items are fixed from the 8th round of 2020. So if Ferrari can't get their shít together in fairly short order, the token system will make it very hard for them to do significant catch up later on.

I would imagine it would be a case by case basis. Was the yellow shown first then the green? If so then Lewis is entitled to get back to racing speed and it would be an error on behalf of the race director.

I’d like to see the on-board shot to be honest.

    Ms

I enjoyed the qualifying I have to say. Hope it's a good race tomorrow. Go Max or Danial Ricciardo. I know dreaming there a bit with the latter lol. Would be great to see him win it do. Well done to Bottas. I hope he has a great season this year. Really hope Ferraris upgrades st Hungary can help improve there cages as it was terrible.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

Is it right that Ferrari aren't allowed any Engine, MGU, or Turbo upgrades for the season, and if so can we rename them to fiat?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,522 ✭✭✭✭Cookie_Monster

Wait so track limits are actually going to be a thing this year???

Lewis has warned the other drivers that staying silent is facilitating racism, that those who do not take the knee are racist and he will remember whoever doesn't.
