Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Holing putts is the difference this wk.

He hasn’t been holing putts that well though. Hitting it close from the rough was key today. He said himself he got good lies and made the most of it. I’m convinced that won’t last. If he hits two fairways tomorrow he shoots 77. Reed was missing everything but getting up and down and got found out on the back nine today.

This is the fella who shot -4 in the first round and was +5 after 11 in round 2.

    It’s not over.

Having DeChambeau dishing out his running commentary all day long won't help Wolff either. A huge amount of pressure and having a final round lead on this golf course ain't going to help with the nerves. It his to lose, I don't think that will help him.

Don't think it did Reed any favours today. Bryson is the player to beat tomorrow I reckon

Look at how everyone else played R2 yest!

    Of course it’s not over!
    I’m half joking
    He’s played the front 9 in -2 R1, +3 R2, -5 R3

He plays it Even or +1 he will be in a very strong position.
This guy is the real deal. Great attitude

Wolf seems quite confident and a lad who like to talk, so i think he'd effect Bryson more then the other way around.

BUt its also possible pro golfers chat doesnt effect each other (and most likely)

Wolff won six tournaments whole in college. When you consider that he was playing against Morikawa, Hovland and Brandon Wu that's seriously impressive.
His win on your showed he is a killer when it matters with an eagle on the 18th to win it.
What he did today that you don't see many players do is put every putt bar one I think past the hole, in other words he gave himself a chance of holing the putt on 17 greens.
His driving is the key tomorrow, if he hits a lot of fairways tomorrow he'll win it I think.
The one thing that could catch him and DeChambeau out tomorrow is if they start playing against each other like matchplay.

Was delighted to see Reed fall away. I despise cheats.
He had a lot if luck this week and once it ran out he was done.

    Well this is certainly questionable...

I heard nick dougherty saying yesterday that bryson hitting 10 percent above the average for fairways this week. I'd say if he keeps that up he will win and if he misses fairway he will be still close enough to green to probably get a wedge on it

To be honest, if that was anyone but Patrick Reed, nobody would bat an eyelid. He has just putting the club behind the ball ahead of his stroke.

Ah yeah, it's debatable. But the rule only allows you to rest the club behind the ball, not press it down. It's debatable as to whether he also presses it down after he grounds it or not.

Carnage already. Implosion from Rory!!! English loses a ball on the 1st off the tee and zander hacking up the first.

When is the last time that no player in the field finished under par for the day in a single round in a tournament? As I type this post, the best score out of the 61 players that teed off today is level par. Extraordinary stuff.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,150 ✭✭✭✭LuckyGent88

    Some chip from Wolf

    He’s looking a bit uncertain
This is shaping up nicely. Louis looks steady

I don’t know but I’ll guess at one of The previous US Opens.

Unlucky lie for Bryson off the tee.
When will will see a Bryson meltdown?
    17th looks prime

Could they be doing it in slow motion?

    Wolff smashing it past Bryson!!!
    Eagle chances on 9 here.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,150 ✭✭✭✭LuckyGent88

That is massive. Just when they were leaking a bit of oil and giving hope to the few chasers

Do they have a problem showing Harris English?

McIlroy all over the shop, Zach at 4 over, and we’ve only got a snip of Xander and English in third...

    Pure BS

Bryson the only player under par. And he's 3 under at that. Incredible performance so far.

When ya get a bounce like that its definitely your day

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,150 ✭✭✭✭LuckyGent88

A tale of two bounces there.

I fancied Bryson for the masters for the past few months with his new length and the lack of rough at Augusta but couldn’t have seen him win on this type of course. Didn’t show well at the BMW or tour champ which were tough driving courses also.

Still expecting Bryson to have a meltdown on 1 hole

Not sure if it has been posted yet but this is Danny Lee's final hole yesterday before withdrawing

Can’t see anything worse than a bogey though.

But any chance of a penalty for slow play as they are well over a hole behind!!! Wishful thinking

That’s a ridiculous par. Very fortunate with the chip.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,150 ✭✭✭✭LuckyGent88

They are two holes behind ffs. So slow.

Some par save though and a well deserved champ. But he is just painful to listen to, incredibly slow and can be a complete arse at times

  • Registered Users Posts: 104 ✭✭swarmberg

Will be even harder to listen to now, going to take a huge collapse from here to not win. Unreal performance though no doubt he will deserve it

Golf is getting unwatchable for me.

So slow and pointless repetitive filler when there are players on the course and we are seeing no shots at all.

Dechambeau making a mockery of the conditions, great performance.

Great final round with all that's happening around him but my God I find him insufferable and just that anti-image of a golfer...yet hes winning..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,823 ✭✭✭Deeper Blue

Funnily enough this has turned out almost the exact same way as the final round of the Rocket Mortgage Classic, Wolff leading going in only to lose by a few to Bryson.

If this is 'the future of golf' then I won't be watching any more of it.

Do the GA/PGA/R&A really think that watching pumped up young body builders consulting yardage books while standing over a six foot putt is entertaining?

agreed, but disappointing that no one out of so many talented young players managed to even make him sweat for it.
