Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

The first group of new RPO's should start there training with a group off Paso's who are transferring across from the office to the landings, So it will be April/May before the first new RPO's will start training,

On form B, it looks for all residential history and family. How do I make the table bigger to add more in.

I've the same problem. I'll tackle it later and if I find a solution I'll post it.

This is a funny one but I presume everyone will be wearing a suit on the day?

Is there anyone on this thread who can explain roughly the pay for this position?

Ive mates who say "awh lad theyre on savage money! some job" but when i ask what kind of money it falls on deaf ears. Im not overly concerned about the money as this is a secure career but id still want to know. I see the pay scales on the website but hats basic pay id like an idea what a PO takes home on average every week / year.

And one other question for people who are in this campaign, the competencies we have to discuss in the interview (information handling, conscientiousness, directing others etc etc ) How many examples for each one do we have to give?

Thanks for any replies in advance :)

Does anybody know what the medical entails? I assume its bloods and a detailed run down of any medical conditions you have ever had.

Also what are the facilities like in the training college? Is there a gym there or anything?

Oh and is there a rent allowance for recruit prison officers?

That would be a good bit off,

The salary is around €22500 p/a, but when you add on the different allowences plus AH(over time) it should be around the €32000 mark,

In relation to Form B, I've simply printed and filled it out by hand. Anyone know if this is acceptable? Thanks.

The rent allowance as it stands isnt in place for new recruits but will be re-instated soon.Thats what I was told by prison officer when I was there for one of the stages. It was always likely to be reinstated with garda recruits getting their rent allowance back

Hey, ya I had a missed call and received email from ips and called back, it was regarding my qualifications, I had given them transcripts rather than the scroll, so they were asking me to send it on

Yeah I got a call on Tuesday looking for photo id even though I showed it on the day of the interview! So maybe it's something like that they called you for. Looks like things are moving forward quickly enough. Hopefully we get word soon.

Maybe the people they are calling to check for verification have passed the interview? Seems odd if you already produced I.D.

I mean why look for verification at this stage if you didn't pass the interview?

Yeah I hoping that's the case but who knows! Could be possible that they lost the photocopy they took of it the first day!

Absolutely. But again if you failed (which they know the result by now) why ask to see your papers? Maybe I'm jumping the gun.

I think everyone just assumed it was January like the guards but if our medicals wont be till January, give a few weeks to get them all done, then results you are looking at feb/march before offers then a few weeks to sort out being in Portlaoise?

Oh for anyone who had to order their actual leaving cert, any idea how long it takes? I used the one that said provisional and it's not the one required so had to order it online

The starting date was put back due to the time it is taking to get security clearance for the now paso's that where due to start training at the start off November, but the will not start training now until the end off January or the start off Febuary,
This has put the RPO start date back as the new Paso's are required to replace the 30 odd Pasos who currently work in the prisons that came off the 2008 RPO panel, the will be the first group off RPO's to start training, The should start training at the start off April,
At the minute it looks like 25 off them will be in the first group with whatever is left doing their training with the first 15-20 off the new RPO panel, So it could be May before the first off the new panel will start their training,
So its a still a bit away before the new RPO's will get training,

I done the interview a few weeks back and to be fair it was grand. The board that were interviewing me were very friendly and kept the interview/conversation flowing so there was no awkwardness at all. I was in there for 35 minutes and it flew by. I'm not sure how the report writing is scored. I'm know for the Garda one you only need to score 50% to pass it so I reckon the scoring for PO report writing is similar. Into December now so Not long till we hear back anyway!

Feel pretty good about the report writing only missed a partial thing for one person. Group exercise I feel was good, interview is hard to gauge as you never know

You do not need a course to write the report. You are only supposed to write down the facts in any professional report writing capacity. No 'I think' No 'I feel' No 'Personal Emotion'. Just the information as you viewed it layed out on the page.

Oh right I phoned them this week and they said they hope to have results out Monday 5th dec i was told that you have to have it in paragraphs tho is that the case because if it is I'm screwed 🙈
