Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Iceland stuffing Turkey 3-0

Two things great about this post.

    1) Turkey are losing badly

    2) The (I hope) obvious pun!

Bosnia losing to Cyprus, could be good for the Welsh.

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

    That or Albania beating Portugal

2-1: Czech Republic beat Netherlands! Horrific defending error from Netherlands in the final minute.

Disgraceful performance from Wales. Ramsey and co should be ashamed of themselves.

Cyprus beating Bosnia must be the shock of the round.

Cyprus beating Bosnia must be the shock of the round.

Cypriot football is improving steadily have given us a few tricky games in recent years. Their domestic league is also hugely improved some good European performances of late. Albania winning in Portugal is a far bigger shock.

Shambolic decision from the linesman. Takes 30 seconds to make a decision and gets it really wrong.

Rooney should have scored a couple here.

Just out of interest am I right in thinking there could be a benefit for a team who look like finishing 3rd to lose their last match deliberately to allow a different team to finish bottom of the group and potentially boost the 3rd team's points total for the purposes of ranking the 3rd placed teams? :P

Spain have went back something awful. First order of business has to be dropping Casillas for De Gea.

2-1... Mad subs. Carzola playing right back? Watching this in Slovakia. They seem happy with that result!

And Del Bosque must be wondering why he stayed on? I reckon he will be given the boot soon enough.

Slovak glory, slovak glory! an industrious performance from the european minnows guided by jan kozak. A star studded spanish side come up short against a stubborn slovak side captained by a beckenbauer-esque Martin skrtel who was key in keeping the squarest of plugs in the roundest of holes, diego costa quiet.
Are tika taka and spain done....?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,950 ✭✭✭Pinturicchio

    Slovakia fully deserved that win.

Casillas has to be dropped (by club and country).

Technically yes but they'd have to be sure that they couldn't be passed out by teams beneath, that they had no chance of finishing 2nd, that the team they were trying to get into bottom place don't get a result in their own game and most importantly that did't get done for throwing a game.

So, in short, it would never likely happen.

Somebody needs to tell Luis Enrique, Messi and co. at Barcelona that tiki taka is done because I don't think they've quite gotten the message.

Atletico sent that message pretty clearly last season and I think the Spanish lads were re-informed by the Slovakians the other night.

I think they've gotten the message.
