Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

This is a real name of a boy in a Laois town I came in contact with through work.

    Mustafa Shi*ta.

I kid you not. The Shi*ta family were all library users.

Another boy who had moved from the Carribbean to Laois (I know from the sublime to the ridiculous) was called Canary. Seems to have been named after the wrong islands.

    Full name Canary Bento.

In college I had a classmate with a really poetic, cool name.

    Elliott Milton.

Sounds sophisticated but he was a real country chap from Clare.

Apologies if this has already been mentioned. Name is Abcde pronounced Ab-City

Sounds like the name of a body builder

. There was a 9 year old girl on it called Isis. Her parents explained they had named her after the Egyptian goddess before the ISIS that we all know and don’t love was a thing.
    .

    I would change her name!

I worked in the libraries all my life, come across some extraordinary names where I tried desperately to look serious when some new patrons would register for cards. One colleague was in the very warm-hearted habit of saying “welcome (first name) to the library service, may I guide you to shelves...” , but when it came to one of the Jesus’, he kind of hiccuped on saying it out!

I don't mind some Irish names, but like some other posters here I'd have to say I dislike the majority of them. Also don't like Shakira, Kayden, Nikita, etc.

It's one of those annoying names; especially as the majority of children with that name are girls; when it's a boys' name. Same as Sasha/Sacha and Aubrey. :D

Elton must have confused people with that music video!
