Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Seems like it was the free hand gel that was the problem with the myprotein second order. Didn't seem to be a problem with the first that arrived on time!

My new bulk order shipped on 12 th Feb and handed over from fedex to fastways so hopefully arrive before end of week.
Ill cancel my 10 th January order now I think, definitely lost
Seems like they've sorted their issues

Glad to hear Bulk have sorted their issues. I ordered just before Christmas, no sign of it. Got onto them and they said they'd issues with the courier/Brexit and sent a replacement. Replacement sent out in Jan, no sign of it so I got a refund.

Might order again though, they're usually on the ball and for things like superfood powders they're the best I can find.

Where have all these missing parcels disappeared to, love to know. Try it, can always get refund again if anything happens.

Not yet. I ordered on the 31st of Jan, got a shipped notification on the 5th and expected delivery date of the 13th and no sign yet. Regret not going with an Irish supplier.

To be honest, until Irish suppliers are €11 ish per kg of whey I'll have no regrets.

I ordered a few days before you, delivered today. That hermes tracking is basically useless and doesn't update at all, then I got an email this morning to say delivery today and an post dropped it off

Got my refund sorted a few days ago. Also got a vaguely worded email where I'm not sure if I'm still meant to be getting my order. Will give it another day or two before making a new order.

Ordered with bulk last Thursday night, so effectively Friday.

Arrived yesterday (Wednesday). Happy with that.

ordered two boxes of protein crisps on the 12th, got them today, decent delivery

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,134 ✭✭✭dashoonage

Ordered from my protien on the 8th, then read this thread, so put in a second order for some stuff on the 10th to have a decent supply, the first order shipped before the second one, the second order has delivered. the first order is somewhere in the hermes abyss of doom.

Read through the thread but didn't see The Protein Works mentioned.

I used to always get my stuff from them when I was living in the UK but went off them when I worked out that they were charging 40% more for their Whey Protein "360 Extreme" with little difference in the macros compared with their regular protein. The taste was better I'll admit but barely. It wasn't so much the 40% difference, but the fact they didn't publish my review and fobbed off my questions about why pissed me off. They seemingly have little to no reviews less than 5 stars And when I went digging on their product claims, I didn't see them listed on Labdoor.com—but then few are.

Also got tired of their every other day promos. I'm like, just charge me 5% more than what I'd be paying with all these nonsense codes and don't make me go fishing for the most optimal discount codes. But then all that seems to be a problem with the supplement industry at large.

The thing is, I'm looking for a company that sells high-quality protein, blended oats and cashew nut butter. I usually stock up by placing big(ish) orders ~€200 worth after discounts. That's where The Protein Works (and sometimes Go Nutrition) were decent.

It sounds like MyProtein or Bulk Powders are the way to go? I'd go back to The Protein Works but would need a) some real assurance around their product quality and b) delivery without the Brexit related issues.

I'm certain when I was researching before that My Protein had some product drawbacks or other issues, which I can only assume were significant enough for me to choose The Protein Works in the first place. Bulk Powders controversy already covered in the thread, and I see that was for ancillary products but it doesn't exactly inspire confidence.

I'm surprised to see the dominance of MyProtein and Bulk Powders and no mention of TPW in the Thread. Is that solely due to Brexit delivery issues or is their a view TPW sell junk? Or what is it I'm missing here.

I haven't ordered protein in months. When I finished out my last lot I didn't order any as my training has taken a major hit this past while but getting back in the game—time to get an order in.

Edit: Will happily consider Irish companies but even at the best of times in the UK, I used to find it hard to source 1kg tubs of Cashew Nut Butter and 2.5kg-5kg bags of blended oats for decent quality and price.

Personally, nothing in particular against TPW. Just too much more expensive for what it was, ie primarily whey.

This arrived yesterday, so it was fine once it is dispatched. I won't be picking the hand gel as the freebie the next time.

so the order with Bulk that shipped on Jan 6th arrived yesterday, via fedex, still one outstanding order from Dec 23rd, maybe that will show up soon??
hopefully that's the brexit crap sorted for now

I ordered a phone from England two weeks ago, ordered on a Fri evening, arrived following Thurs. All customs stuff paid for at time of ordering.
Brexit stuff does indeed seem to be sorted.

So was onto myprotien and have told me it can take up to 21 days for delivery. so sometime in march maybe.

Are there any irish suppliers we can use ?

I find Discount Supplements very good and they have next day delivery. I tend to just get quite run of the mill whey protein, monster drinks and protein bars and they're reasonably priced and arrive in great time!

I buy from local stores, and before that, I look for information and read reviews. I only know that gyms can sell good protein, and they can give you recommendations.

Ordered again on the 18th and delivered this morning. Normal service resumed.

My parcel from before Christmas must have ended up on Mars.

Good protein is a tad overhyped IMO.
If it's to your taste, 100kcals and 20g per serving it's grand IMO, cheaper the better.

Yeah, the ones the gym recommend are usually slapped with jargon that ramps up the price with very little quality improvement. Thanks but I'll think I'll pass on the Mega Hyper Super Isolate Anabolic Monstrous Protein Extrapump Whey.

  • Registered Users Posts: 39 samvimes

They (bulk) replied to me yesterday, order from December was recalled, not sure what the means but they did refund me immediately so I'm happy with that. I went ahead and placed another order, that's shipped with Fedex already so they seem to be back to normal.

I ordered from Bulk Powders on 23-Feb and it shipped on 24-Feb (FedEx & then Fastway). It arrived today (1-Mar). So one week in total; I'm happy with that.

What's a good discount on Myprotein ? Currently looking at €61 for 5kg of Whey protein. Is that about as good as it gets?

How much was a 5kg bag of chocolate whey isolate 3/4 months ago?

In line with current prices from what I can see - Haven't noticed any increases because of Brexit/food price increases.

Kind of off-topic but I no longer pay extra premium for isolate. This isolate is 89% protein where as the ordinary stuff is 84%. I know some go for isolate for digestive/intolerance reasons though.

I went for the isolate because it was cheaper, that’s all. I paid 120 for 5kg. I could’ve swore I paid wayyyyy less than that a few months ago

Sounds very high. Just checked My protein and 5kg isolate is currently ~€70 delivered

There was a 45% off sale recently. They hardly jacked the price up to give the appearance of a huge saving?

The sale price is the real price. They change the promotion every few days but your price at checkout when the codes are applied will be broadly stable.

You don't need any of that cheap protein before or after workout. Get your self proper diet and you will be fine.

Don't be one of those running around the gym with fancy looking but absolutely useless protein shakes.

There's nothing wrong with 20g protein / 100kcals... That's all a scoop of cheap protein powder is. It can fit in with your proper diet.

It’s ok, I have a masters in bro science. I have 30g whey protein during a workout. Why during a workout you say? Because it’s a handy time to get it in. It has absolutely nothing to do with anabollicks windows.

It's whey protein, ie proper protein (please don't start linking to stories about contaminated supplements in the US again).
    And its not useless.

It's a supplement - it supplements protein intake from your diet. You don't need it but it's a convenient way of supplementing protein intake from your diet.

Whey is handy after a workout. A good home cooked meal within a couple of hours after finishing training is much better though.

Consuming protein during training can cause the digestive system to kick in drawing blood to the stomach. This won't help the flow of blood to the muscle (major part of weight training).

(Bringing a phone into the gym floor, people not sharing machines and nobody putting dumbbells back on the rack so you can’t find them will also be detrimental to your pump).
