Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Sad to hear about Dr John. He had some excellent appearances in a TV show called Treme a few years back.

Rutger Hauer .... is now like tears in the rain.

    Wikipedia says....
Starting his career in 1969 with the title role in the Dutch television series Floris. His film credits include Flesh+Blood, Blind Fury, Blade Runner, The Hitcher, Escape from Sobibor (for which he won a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor), Nighthawks, Wedlock, Sin City, Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, Ladyhawke, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, The Osterman Weekend, The Blood of Heroes, Batman Begins, Hobo with a Shotgun, and The Rite.

As well as lots of Guinness ads ......

.....and a Kylie Manogue video (on a night like this).

Loved him in Bladerunner. Started collecting his films on VHS after that.

Peter Henry Fonda (February 23, 1940 – August 16, 2019 -- same date as Elvis!) was an American actor. He was the son of Henry, and younger brother of Jane. Peter Fonda was a part of the counterculture of the 1960s and star of classic movie, Easy Rider.

Peter Fonda was one of the bad boys of Hollywood. Both he and Denis Hopper were high most of the time during the filming of Easy Rider.

I still have and listen to the album Wheels of Fire ...... one of the greatest groups to get together IMO.

His drum solo (~15 mins I think) was something special.

Good Bye to Kenny Rogers. A great singer especially with Dolly Parton; they were such a great duo.

Just heard Florian Schneider died today, he just turned 73 a couple of weeks ago. Founding member of Kraftwerk, went to see them in the Marquee a couple of years back, every bit as good as they were in the 80's.

Barry Cryer has dies aged 86.

If you've listened to radio comedy on the BBC you'll know he was a giant in the field. He was a writer for TV comedies such as the Two Ronnies and Morecambe and Wise. Probably his longest association was with I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue, the antidote to quiz games.

And now we've lost Nurse Gladys Emmanuel. Lynda Baron passed away on 7th March, 82 yrs. She'll be chased from cloud to cloud by Arkwright in that great corner shop in the sky!!

Peter Bowles, the Irish RM, left us due to Cancer aged 85. Always debonair, and also great fun in Rising Damp!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,495 ✭✭✭cml387

I really like Peter Bowles as an actor.

He may have been debonair, and looked a bit of a cad, but I always remember parts where he played up the pathos.

He had a big part in Rumpole of the Bailey as Guthrie Featherstone and you can currently rewatch that superb series on Talking Pictures TV

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 972 ✭✭✭Jellybaby_1

We used to watch Rumpole years ago, I must chase that up on Talking Pictures TV, I'm sure we have that channel.

Names we remember from years ago, and when we heard they had passed we said either, 'Ah no, really?' or 'didn't know he/she was still alive'. Funny what comes into your mind? We've lost these among many others in recent months. I don't get depressed, it's just memories and nostalgia.
