Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Android 1.5 (v 2.1)?

    3 Ireland have finally gotten their hands on an Android powered phone, http://three.ie/shop/samsung-spica-black-3pay.htm


    From reviews it seems it only runs Android 1.5, which is old. Does this limit the apps it runs, or what is the major differences between Android 1.5 and newer versions?

    This seems to imply an OTA update to 2.1 is at the very least on the way.

    Otherwise yes 1.5 is somewhat limited compared to the newer versions. The differences are a bit too complex to list, but some newer apps won't run properly or at all.

    1.5 is still the most widespread Os version, however it will change over time with most new devices having 2.1.

    With that in mind for now you wont miss out on too much apps as most will target 1.5 and hopefully in time the ota upgrade will have been sent out anyway

    Had the Spica on o2.Came with 1.5,upgraded it (unofficially) to 2.1.
    I wouldnt say the upgrade was revolutionary but it does have some nice features on the rom I flashed,pretty easily done as well.
    Great phone though.

    There are a couple of 'headline' apps that don't run on 1.5, e.g. Google Goggles and turn-by-turn navigation on Google Maps, and the number of 2.0+-only apps will increase as time goes on. Fortunately, the Spica has been confirmed for an upgrade to 2.1, but it's taking an age. There's a discussion on the O2 forums here about it (you can ignore the first hundred or so posts). It definitely won't be an OTA update, you'll need to use Samsung's crappy NPS software

    For my Spica, I downloaded the latest Samsung software and used that to flash it to 2.1
