Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

It didn't do Cavan any harm last week in the Ulster Final playing for the 6th weekend in a row without a break.

And fairplay to Cavan, made it all the more remarkable.

Football and hurling are not the same though. And as has been noted no team so far this year playing three weeks in a row has won. But it's fair to say maybe that Cork, Dublin and Clare were playing better opposition on the day where the playing field might be more level on Saturday so that could be a factor.

    Nostalgic piece in yesterday's Info.

Bang up to date piece in today's paper. All the focus is now on Dessie ; that will take the spotlight off the other lads. Weather forecast tomorrow looks good for hurling ... will be a titanic struggle but in this unique year, anything is possible.

Other than being a nicely written piece about the early days of gaa in Waterford what relevance does it have to anything in the present day or regarding tomorrow’s match...?

Maybe you should have a look at the title of the thread?

Kilkenny team named. With Kilkenny, the total is usually greater than the sum of its parts. Happy enough though with the expected Waterford full forward line (Dessie plus Aussie intermittently ....... if Prendergast is injured, Curran to start perhaps).

Living in Dublin .... met 3 lads on the road today who know their hurling (one from Dublin, Limerick & Cork) ; they all fancy Waterford to win !

I'd have liked to see Conor Gleeson starting midfield.

the Irish examiner must have lost their marbles. Why don’t you send a letter to the editor?

Only just back from a long injury and was effective enough coming off the bench the last day. Jake Dillon has been playing well for us anyway and I assume you weren’t looking to drop Barron

This line that Cody doesn’t do dummy teams is a load of rubbish in my opinion.
I know Kilkenny have named Hogan to start but I expect Fennelly to start in on top of Prunty. They will see the success that Shanagher got on some of the high ball hit in and see opportunities for Fennelly to do the same. To be fair to Prunty, Shanagher only won 3/4 balls for the whole match but did damage. I’d see Hogan being introduced in the expectation that he will make an impact like the last day.

I wonder what the odds are of TJ or Fennelly ‘doing their ankle’ during the warm up a la Tony Kelly...?

Best of luck to Waterford at the weekend . Would love to see you back in All Ireland final. Playing impressive hurling this year and well capable of beating Kilkenny. All the best.

For a small man richie hogan is well capable of winning his own ball too..

    "One of the fennellys"

Just corrected my lack of kk team sheet knowledge......Fennelly now singular.

There is no Fennelly even on the starting 15 for starters

I dont see Cody naming a dummy team. Not his style nor is there evidence of him doing it in the past. Secondly an experienced guy like Hogan wouldnt be too happy to be the stooge in a convoluted deception. In saying that I think Fennelly would have given Prunty more trouble from the start but we will definitely see him coming on..Id give Waterford the advantage now. I just hope that they can keep Kilkenny to 2 goals..that ll be enough. Waterford to win by 3.

Cody has named several dummy teams in recent years, famously did against Waterford in 2016 springing Liam Blanchfield, there's a much in truth in that notion as there is in Kilkenny playing traditional 15 on 15 which they haven't sense 2006

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,148 ✭✭✭mountgomery burns

Wasn't just Blanchfield, he also "sprung" Mark Bergin, and there was one other who wasn't originally named to start that day maybe Larkin?

Everyone knew on the Friday though, no white smoke coming about the team named last night.

Disaster. Kilkenny getting easy frees. Waterford nearly have to be murdered to get one.

Have to agree. Looks pathetic when we blame the ref.

Its Waterford that are committing the soft fouls not Horgan

Bullsh1t. The performance has absolutely nothing to do with the referee.

  • Registered Users Posts: 684 ✭✭✭Jjjjjjjjbarry

If we can stop giving TJ frees and start improving out shooting, we can get back into this. Much better in the second quarter after a nervy start.

I’m watching this as a neutral. No way he’s giving kk any more that Waterford. It’s been very even both ways

    Awful first half
Remind me of waterford under mcgrath, except with more errors. Bad balls into the forwards and crazy solo runs to nowhere.

Need to get in, calm down, look for their men and somehow relax.

We're still in this, in others years we would crumble, but not today ,like KK we can't give up until the final whistle is blown

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,178 ✭✭✭killbillvol2

KK will be disappointed not to be much further ahead. It's unlikely but a fast start and a bit of luck and we're back in it. Can't see it though.

    Neutral here to

Waterford discipline no worse than Kilkenny still the difference in frees awarded is crazy
Not as if Kk need it the way Waterford are playing
