Yeah the only downside I've encountered is the battery alright.

I have mine plugged into a 20,000 mah pretty much for any extended sessions

Btw I tried Virtual Boy emulator last night. Incredible! The games are actually good too, especially Wario.

The 3D effect is phenomenal. Who'da thunk it?

Speaking of 3D, a lot of the YouTube 3D videos seem to be in the wrong format for this device and display side by side. Is there a way to change the format. It says so in the info to the video but couldn't see a setting option

Just today having problems with the GO. My internet wired and wireless is working fine. The GO was originally telling me No Internet Connection. Now when I power it up I just get the 4 searching lights and nothing more. Any ideas ?

You've definitely tried the complete turn off/on?

(holding down power button for several seconds to turn off)

Yeah . Tried that. Still get the power off screen with the options and the controller works. Went from working fine to this all of a sudden.

Did a bit of googling. Seems it could be something to do with a change I made to my account. Had to reset my PIN and had a session has expired message The app recognises the headset but won't connect to it for some reason.

I'll keep at it...

Oculus Support are great, give them a shout. Might give you a new headset.

Anyone have any tips for the Oculus Go for someone trying to get one besides the obvious one of getting the 64gb instead of the 32GB?

I primarily want it for watching movies and TV shows in a vr cinema while lying down or while on a plane while travelling.

Maybe the odd but of gaming, the lack of 6dof won't bother me for my usage.

Have an offer of £120 down on one at the moment and hopefully it will be accepted.
CeX in the UK sell B graded 64GB Go's for £135, a bit saving to what you would pay for them in Irish CeX stores.

Only tip I can give is definitely go for the 64GB.

Also get an external battery pack with a long micro USB cable (or mini USB?...best check the specs to be sure)

I suppose suggestions for cool experiences, games or sideloading apps or whatever! :P

I have skybox saved in my library as my go to vr cinema app which supports SMB file sharing.

I have an old anker 13,000mah battery pack i can put in my pocket to take care of power issues.

Ah well Virtual Desktop is essential. Play your computer from your bed, and a good excuse to get through your pancake catalogue.

Daedalus is great. Ultrawings too. Racket Fury is my favourite game though. Just superb feeling of playing table tennis even though it's not 6DoF. Feels like it though.

Skybox VR for media playback.

That should get ya started

I spent ages looking for a USB cable that connects at a right angle so it doesn't stick out as much. I couldn't find one. Don't suppose any of you guys have ever seen them.

I would go with this StarTech one which is "left angled" as opposed to right angled so it should point down after the angle when connected to the Go.

The built in speakers in the Go are surprisingly good and have full 3D sound... but yeah if you want privacy then maybe you wouldn't want to cover that.

Yeah especially if you use these 3.5mm right angle adapters which can prevent the headphone socket from accidental damage.

That should sort out my storage and streaming as well as battery charging, the previous filehub had difficulty streaming larger files to the Go over 2.4GHz, this model has 5ghz AC and streams beautifully, even your VR porn! :P

It's incredible.

I was sitting out in my garden playing Eagle Flight and House of the Dying Sun in my Oculus Go with my Xbox controller. Visuals are about 90% as good as native but prob even better on Quest (I don't have VD for Quest to compare)

I think it's min spec though, but should be good for older games like Elite Dangerous.

This is a game changer. No need for expensive VR headsets to play PC VR

You could already do this using ALVR, but that involved sideloading and you didn't have control over the PC. Virtual Desktop allows you to control both the VR and desktop side of things, all while remotely sitting in a couch (or garden as I was).

You can even use the keyboard in VD by long-pressing the Oculus menu button.

Note, when starting Steam VR the first time it will go into Room setup mode. Select Standing Area, and a height of 180cm or whatever, use the VD virtual keyboard for entering the numbers.

You can do both.

After a lot of look around it seemed like the best one as it can fit an Xbox One S controller and protects the lenses really well.

The outer shell is hard and solid also and is just well made in general. Well worth it.

I'm going to try out ALVR instead tonight and see if it works just as good as Virtual Desktop did for SteamVR on my Go.

It's painfully simple to setup:

1) Go to https://alvr-dist.appspot.com/ and get a code

2) Login to https://secure.oculus.com/my/profile/ and redeem the code (ALVR magically appears in your Go library)

Then on the PC side, just download and install the exe from https://github.com/polygraphene/ALVR/releases/tag/v2.3.1

I tried Gun Club 3 VR for the first time last night.

I was skeptical before playing as surely shooting at wooden targets cant be that much fun.

But man was I wrong, its one of the most addictive shooters ever, and real rewarding with the money system and upgrade system.

I literally played my first session til the Go went dead!

Its just really well executed.

The free Allies DLC is awesome too.

Its probably even better with 6dof on other platforms.

The Go is now permanently reduced in price... €159 for the 32GB.

Definitely a great (relatively cheap) way to introduce people to VR and it has some superb games like Racket Fury and Dreadhalls (not to mention Quake works perfectly)

I still use mine so this is a shame... I've just bought another one on Amazon to have as a backup, but I did the same for iPod Classic when they announced that was no longer being sold, and I bought 2 of those.

They are still in their wrapping and now worth about 4x the price I paid for them, so I recommend grabbing a 64GB one off Amazon and leave it in its wrapping unless you intend to use it.

Amazon are already sold out! Gone to 3rd party now with 15 left in stock.

Hope some of ye managed to grab one yesterday.

Such a shame as I've recently "rediscovered" my Go... some of the games on there are great and it's so light and easy to carry around on holidays. I'd struggle to get my Quest into my carry-on luggage with room to spare for my own clothes.
