Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    cheers

believe its down as the deadline passed 2 weeks back iirc

Did the practice tests - 2 minutes to do 4 questions in the verbal/maths and 30seconds to do the 4 questions in the error checking

  • Registered Users Posts: 118 ✭✭MAC addict

The error checking was tough with the time limits. I had to do it twice as I took too long reading the question, was over before I even realised!

I did it twice the practice ones but my laptop froze and said I couldn't do it again before I could do the other 4 fml

The verbal and maths weren't too bad

  • Registered Users Posts: 118 ✭✭MAC addict

No they weren't that bad at all, but i can see error checking being tough. Great that we got to practice it tho.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,249 ✭✭✭ Randall Juicy Pebble

annoying though we cant re do it though - would like more practice on the error checking

Yeah that is a pain alright. I may actually google it and see if I can find any error assessments online.

Just did practice tests. Found the verbal and numerical fine but the error checking is so tough to do within the time ! After the 3rd attempt I only got them all done. must learn to speed read before the actual tests :(

I found the same. Error checking is very tricky - especially as you have to check for more than one error, it's not like the others where you're looking for one right answer and then you can move on.

Just got an email saying I didn't complete the practice tests! But I did!

HBS seem to be making this up as they go along.

    Exactly the same!!!
I wouldn't mind but I did it loads of times and I went back in this morning to do it one more time before the deadline and it said I couldn't because the tests had already been completed!! 🙄

  • Registered Users Posts: 118 ✭✭MAC addict

    Mine said the same!

I did exactly the same! Practiced them all a few times last week and once this morning for luck! That's why it seemed so bizarre to me.

I clicked exit instead of abort on my last go so I completely closed it off! I know it doesn't matter in the scheme of things but I felt like a naughty child being given out to for not doing the homework I actually did!

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,506 ✭✭✭✭Xenji

My sister got this and a link to the practice tests that can be done as many times as you want till Monday.
If you want to try the Practice Assessment, here is a link to allow you to practice. You can do it as often as you want. Evidence shows that applicants who undertake the opportunity to practice generally have better assessment outcomes than those who don’t take the opportunity.

    Ha ha me too!!!!! Funny!

  • Registered Users Posts: 983 ✭✭✭misslemon

It's only right that they opened it up for longer. They didn't explain how the tests worked properly - if you clicked "abort" you could sign in and practice it again. If you clicked "exit" you couldn't, meaning you only had one go. This allowed some candidates to practice more than others.

Incidentally, why have the HSE hived off recruitment to another company when the taxpayer already funds the Public Appointments Service to recruit for civil and public service jobs?Surely bringing in another company that is using Savile tests, when PAS use those already, is a complete waste of money.

I can't think of any reason that makes sense.

I did that too - and it said I had completed it - got the email and text to practice it can still be done

I got this too, but I did actually complete them. Did you email them to let them know? How many errors have been made in this process so far???

I didn't email them to let them know, but they have made a couple of errors to many and we haven't even started properly yet! It's not exactly reassuring!

No I didnt email them either. I dont have much confidence in them to be honest. If there have been this many errors prior to the actual assessments, how are they going to get our results correct?
Definitely not as organised as PAS.

No sorry but Dublin has a lot of TCOs at the minute so those jobs are all up for grabs.

I tried to click on practice links in the email but it says thanks for taking time to complete tests even though I didn't do it??

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 93 ✭✭Wellywoo

Just finished them. There was lots of swearing. The more flustered I got, the more stupid mistakes I made e.g. in error checking I ticked the box for "everything was right" in error when I wanted to tick the box below it....and all because there was 3 seconds left.

All I can do is wait until April 11th. Good luck everyone!!

You can access the same ones on the Saville site just scroll down to the Comprehension Aptitude Range Tests

    https://www.savilleassessment.com/PracticeTests

There's also different sample ones before you start the tests too.

Is the 11th results day? - also how many questions in each exam

  • Registered Users Posts: 60 ✭✭Haylesm

Yes the results are out April 11th.
In the verbal and numerical it had 8 sets of 4 questions and you have 2 minutes to complete each set of 4 iykwim?
Then the error checking is the same - 8 sets of 4 questions and 45 seconds to do each set.

I found it quite difficult actually, and felt the examples given were much easier - especially in the numerical section!!
But sure it's done now, so I'll just have to wait and see!

Yup 11th April; all info is in the email we got with the link to the actual tests.

16 minutes for Numerical & Verbal so that's 8 sets of 2 minutes, and you've 4 questions to do in those two minutes sets.

Can't remember how many with the error checking but when you click the link for each it's all in the instructions, how many and how long you have to do it in.
