Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Not sure if it a bargain or if it can be saved. It will be a shame if it can’t.

Basket case! The restoration would cost a lot more than it would ever be worth. Some period accessories there though. AMG Pentas and a Lorinsor spoiler. For these cars to be worth anything, a full and complete service history is essential. Parts supply is very sketchy and parts are very expensive.

    BMW 750iL 01/1991. €5,900. 340tKm

Big miles, heavy on the filter for the photos, but it looks to be in very good nick. It's been well looked after judging by the leather. It's near Rome. If it's got a valid test and it's there after lockdown ends, I might head over. It's very well priced for a 750iL.

Take a few days hiking in the Alps on the way back to make up for some of the madness of the past year.

FWIW the LHD wouldn't bother me as it would probably be out at weekends only. If I couldn't sell it here at the end of a year I'd drop it over to Germany, they're making good money there.

You're right about the filters. It's a pity they didn't have a few without any. It doesn't look too bad, but would need a good look over in person. If it has SLS, you'd need to be certain it has no problems, because I believe it's dammed expensive to sort out.

I couldn’t buy that corolla until I had a genuine set of wheel trims sourced , the aldi ones really let’s it down , and I say are knocking bidding way back and rightly so.

These 4matic 124's are incredible cars when they work. In fact the word incredible can be used many times to describe the car and the ownership experience. Very expensive when new and complicated to service. Incorrect servicing and misunderstanding the 4x4 system was a factor in the downfall of this model. Another factor was the early transfer box design which was sorted by 1991 but the reputation was soiled.

This car would be for the brave or the stupid. I have one and I'm not brave!

I guess there is no law against bringing in a UK car an leaving it on a UK reg if it's registered in the name of a resident of UK, ie family. Could work on it, store it, until it's vintage.

I've thought of this a few times....

As long as an Irish resident does not drive it on the public road. It must be taxed and tested in the UK also with valid insurance if it ever does go on the road. Not a good situation if it is caught out on any of these.

I think for a UK car to remain in a 'legal' state, it must be Taxed, Tested and insured. For a UK car to be over here as described above I imagine it would need to be 'legal'. To SORN a car over there it must be at a UK address. I tried this a few years ago with a Merc that I used to transport parts home. The MOT ran out within a few weeks so I tried to SORN it via a family member but it had to have an MOT

I donno. It's worst failure was in 2012 for excessive corrosion. 7 or the 8 failures were for that. But one day later it was all sorted and passed. Hmmmm. And since then, no mention of body corrosion.

Now, given that an MOT is not anywhere as trustworthy as an NCT any buyer would want a good look at it, but it'd be a nice little pocket rocket to have.

Edit. Especially, when you have thiis 205 GTI on offer for 20 grand Sterling with no MOT for the last 12 years. https://www.donedeal.ie/vintagecars-for-sale/peugeot-1-9-gti/27933776

If its been in the North it wont show up on the MOT site - but could well still have had one all that time. As far as I know the MOT system up there is actually closer to ours and far more reliable.

That's true enought alright. What's the reason why NI MOT's don't show up on the UK MOT system?

This is a lovely car for the money. Has a brand new TUV as well. Seats were re-upholstered at some stage, but a set of sheepskins would make them look better. Underneath looks clean and has some new exhaust parts.

Not sure about that blue leather interior but I always had a soft spot for the Mondial. That one is an ex-show car and a right hand drive so I imagine it won't hang around for long at that price.

Do you think it would cost much to register in Ireland? I never imported a car before. I would need to get a garage for it or else sell again immediately. To be honest I probably only want it for the drive up through Italy and back across the continent...

It is the blue that makes it stand out for me!

200 yoyo - its the drive back that will cost you. 80's Ferraris arent known for reliability.

It's been for sale for months.

Those engines are very solid, as long as they were looked after with basic maintenance. Some of the other stuff like electrics can be dodgy. I'd go for a later Mondial, preferably a 3.2 or 3.4.

If you want a 3.0 one, then this one has a new TUV

Yikes, that things looks like it's been upholstered in Smurf hide.

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

Jaysus I remember half decent ones being sub £10k. Doesn't seem all that long ago either.

I remember seeing a Ferrari 360 for €30k in about 10 years ago. They are 80 odd now.

Just looking on ebay, the first 10 pages of recently listed classic cars are all from same selling, and all scams , but someone will fall for it.

Well you wait ages for one to come along, then two come along at once. No prices on these, so they could be put up on donedeal. No mention of NCT either. Not 30 years, so technically not a classic, and you have to pay VAT on both of them.

1995 McLaren F1. Not sure about the colour.

1996 McLaren F1 GTR Longtail, 1 of 10 in this spec and 1 of 2 in private hands. Nick Mason has the other one.

Thats a €20 million car right there. The cheque you would have to write for VAT/Duty/VRT would be hilarious.

The VRT folks in thr NCT centre struggle with anything out of the ordinary. I would love to roll up in that.

And then the insurance - hmmm that would not be funny either.

The less desirable 4 door model, but it's in top condition. Even has the plastic on the doors from the factory! Looks like a 1982/83 model, unless it's a South American import.

It's in Sicily, so you'd have 3,000 km to bring it back, give or take. Price is very decent at €2,000

Sold two years ago for £1,688.

    Lot details
    Registration No: DHI 805
    Chassis No: 6813998

    https://www.handh.co.uk/auction/lot/27-1958-dkw-36-sonderklasse/?lot=15162&sd=1

I'd love to do it up, fix the engine, modern brakes and tyres and leave the rest as a rat look.
