No surprise there Blanch, these lads are bending over backwards to try to keep the complete mess the Shinners are making of things where they are in power out of this thread.

What they want is to have carte Blanche to attack those in power down here whilst trying to hide the unholy mess the same party are making of their jurisdiction.

How can any sensible person have confidence in that bunch of incompetents.

Brendi...go research what the 'Executive' is and how it functions.

I have been telling you NI is a failure for yonks. This proves it and will factor hugely come the border poll.
Because it is a failure we cannot guarantee our island's health security now never mind the stability of it.

Another made-up fantasy in your head about Leo.

    (1) Leo didn't say that "Debenhams have no money for workers"

    (2) There is no way he could know the inside financial situation in Debenhams to the detail required to say that.

You keep saying complete tripe like this 'another made up..' with no evidence and you get told only to try it on again and again...

    (1) "Mr Vardkar, who is both Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade, and Employment, told RTÉ on Wednesday that Debenhams is genuinely insolvent and lacks the funds to pay staff their redundancy."
    https://www.irishexaminer.com/news/arid-40046087.html

"The money isn't there on this occasion. And that's the difficulty."

    He lied.

    (2) Likely correct. Either way he had no business spouting spin dismissing the workers with his lies. Especially considering they implemented no recommendations that came in the wake of Clery's

Psst...this is where you look for something in my comment to allow you spin off in a different direction.....

Three highest rates in Ireland are in Donegal, Cavan and Monaghan. No surprise to see the border counties in trouble with the chaotic mess overseen by Sinn Fein going on in Northern Ireland where they have the highest rates in Europe.

Not looking up North to say they are worse, looking up North to point out that the incompetents up there are making things much more difficult down here.

Can the North be blamed for

    - The lack of ICU beds we have 6 months after we were promised loads more
    - GAA teams and parishes on the piss for the weekend after county title wins and loses
    - Freshers week in Galway
    - The protests in Dublin every Saturday
    - House Parties up and down the country
    - People coming in through the airport, and not been followed up on.

What do you want, the border closed?

Fun to see them compare Donegal to the occupied territory like they're one in the same because it suits :)

Ah so it's back to blaming a govt for covid mess.

Down here where FFG are in charge - nope blanch says you cannot blame a govt.

He changed his mind as to whether a govt could be blamed in the north, even suggested they were to blame for the Tullamore episode of covid.

He quickly changed his mind again when it was NPHET advice being ignored.

Now the North has a rise in cases you can hold a govt responsible again.

It's the internet equivalent of the hokey pokey. :D

Criminally bad tendering of processes? What does that even mean? Are you suggesting that State tenders were awarded under suspicious circumstances? You'll have to explain how that could happen under the triple lock of Government, the Civil Service, and the Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General, and for what tenders it happened.

Look up Udarus n.a. Gaeltachta and see who gets their contracts, Its generational at this stage

Would you be in favour of tax harmonisation across the EU?

I'd be thinking that after Brexit that tax harmonisation will be on the EU agenda, if Germany and France want it it will be happening

Our rates are up because of the overflow from the North. Furthermore, they are still far behind the North.

Michelle O'Neill is putting the whole island in trouble.

Geographically we live on one island. Politically, there are two countries on this island. Which bit of that do you not understand?

    What gives, what is different?

Every Shinner and republican on here tells me we are one nation, exactly the same, yet the Covid-19 rates up there are three times higher. Are we lucky to have Leo and co in charge compared to having Michelle?

    She isn't
    The DUP are
The North now has the funding for a complete lockdown and there's a case there if ever there was,the 6 county rate is at 327 and parts over 900
Yet Geoffrey Donaldson was on radio one after 5 playing down the whole thing
He said he was going to take no lectures from people who held a fake funeral
So that's whats going on in the executive too no doubt

Putting border counties to level 4 is only a gimmick unless there's fines for leaving or entering the county without a valid excuse

absolutely not, but she complains a lot about problems that may not even exist. I think SD are preparing themselves to be the party to replace SF in taking up the most amount of dail tv time giving out about things.

crystal ball for the future : FG take Stephen Donnelly . Mchugh and Chu join SD and spend the rest of their careers shouting about how bad FG are while in power, yet every time a coalition option is on the table they silently go along with it until it inevitably falls apart, then say how they would have left if the coalition did happen.

FF and FG didn't know how bad they had let the hospitals get over the last 20 years. I know for a fact that this happened.

University College Hospital Galway have denied claims that patients were moved from the emergency department ahead of a visit by Taoiseach Leo Varadkar last week.

On RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta on Monday, a man claimed that patients in the A&E were moved out of the A&E and ‘hidden’ in advance of the visit. on Thursday April 12.

It happened in UCHG with a Brian Cowen walkthrough too.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth House?

Fair enough, but as it is, either FF or FG govts are responsible for this.
    Thats a fact, not populism.

Out of the reform from regional health boards came the mighty HSE, and it's so powerful now it looks like no govt can reform it or get us beds back.

FF/FG I should have said. They are the 2 parties who have been in charge resulting in Ireland having less beds than 20 years ago. Both are too blame

They couldn't even get the required ICU beds they told us they needed during a pandemic and the winter plan says we will get 17 more ICU beds

VRT going up - cars being made more expensive.

PUP recipients likely to get a bonus at Christmas. What a joke. They're already getting more than they deserve after they've lost their job.

Help to buy scheme being expanded to prop up property prices. Literally impossible for me to every buy a new place. 2 bed apartments where I live are going for 380k.

How much of taxpayers money that is going to have to be paid back through higher taxes is being pumped into businesses? The money thrown at them is disgusting.

You don't get rewarded for working anymore.

Agree with all of this, whatever about people on pup getting xmas bonus. Its the long term wasters only that get it , if unemployed. Paid for by low income workers, who lose half their pay over 34,000, what a joke !

The lad made a mistake blanch, that is not necessarily lying, just like Leo said "the govt wasn't consulted" about NPHET wanting to the state to be moved up to level five.

Have read on here numerous times, Leo didn't necessarily lie, he did not know. Whether he actually did know and chose to lie about it, or Donnelly and Martin left him out of the loop is where things aren't clear.

To be fair, I suspect it wasn't a lie, just pure ignorance. Whichever it was, it made mince meat out of your argument that they could not go elsewhere in the EU and pay less.

It also shows how so much noise from critics of the government's corporate tax policy should be ignored, usually because it their arguments are based on partial knowledge.

You accusing anyone of Hyperbole or exaggeration is the funniest thing I've seen on boards in a while.

The fact of the matter is our Govt is failing in its attempts to control Covid, that cannot be denied. Going against NHEPT's advice is and was going to have serious concequences just like we were told and still nothing been done.

We have failed in having enough extra beds in hospital that we were told we needed in March, testing and tracing in airports still no existent, Gardaí still given no powers to stop people breaking restrictions (or turn a blind eye, i.e protests in Dublin), the leaving cert results and start to college year has been one big **** up, failed in giving extra support to people out of work and in danger on going in mortgage arrears.

The 1 thing they have done correct was 2 weekends ago when they kept the phone calls quiet with NHEPT and Minister Health quiet to try and get the weak link in the Govt to not run his mouth to the press, and the clown went ahead and did it anyway. The words were 'The Govt' had no idea this was coming, no he didn't know it was coming the people in Govt who needed to know knew
