Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Upgrade firmware to v1.20b1. There is a link a few pages back to the zip file. Extract the .abs file 9its all you need), put it on a USB device, insert in box. Go to upgrade by USB and choose allcode and bootloder. Click down to start and let it get to 100% and it will reboot. When it reboots after that do a factory reset (its in the menu - answer yes to the question it asks).

Youtube etc will work after that.

Please note that you will lose any TV channel lists you made as the firmware upgrade doesnt include channel lists.

But you can load the channel list above doing upgrade by usb and choosing USerDB (instead of all code+bootloader) by right clicking using the arrows and then click down to the file Tonys channel list file that you downloaded and have put on the USB device and clicking start.

Guys what satellites do I select in the satellite list for scanning?

Depends on what group of satellites your dish is pointing at , for example Uk freesat would be astra 2/eurobird , German tv is astra 1. For adding individual channels you should be using the TP list to scan the individual transponder that you need otherwise you may end up with lots of repeats.

28.2 e is the main one (astra, hotbird etc), if you already have a dish lined up, just put tonys chan file on the box, flash it with the 1.20 firmware and load the file above in his post

Thanks lads. Yeah it's just a Sky dish pointing towards the Astra satellite from my old Sky days.

slip tonys file on, update the box with it and off ya go,

Sound Mickser. I already did ;) I just wanted to know for future reference instead of scanning in a load of ****e.

The Ariva will give you UK free channels if you replace your sky box with it and you can also receive RTE's digital serivice if you have a suitable aerial

I've got a problem here with my newly arrived Ariva 250. I got it last week from satworld.ie. I plugged in the big YAGI pointing at 3rock and I plugged in the freetoair dish, turned it on, - perfect! Terrestrial channels were 1..8 or so, satellite channels were the igher numbers. It worked AOK for several days.

Then last night the terrestrial channels disappeared. Ch1 is now BBC1. Same tonight.

I plugged the yagi back into the tv - all terrestrial channels are there.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks!

Try pressing the "ok" button on the remote followed by the "<" button, ie. left sode of the inner ring.
Looks like you've gone from the "All channels" list to the "Astra 2A" list.

    Thanks Tony,

I went through the menu lastnight and honestly couldn’t see any installation option for some reason!! I will have another look this evening just to be sure.

So 2 simple steps - Menu – installation – I will try that this evening!

    Thanks again for your help!

    Hi Tony,

I actually found bbc and bb4 under a different stations name so panic over for me, thanks!!

I have tried adding the transponder 11719 H 29500 and also 11740 V 29500 then scanned on Astra 2A and not a sign of Sky Sports HD 2 or Summer HD. Am I doing something wrong? What frequency/transponder are you picking these channels up on?

    Hi,

I just noticed that I have the same prolem. And like you I scanned on Astra at 11719 and 29500 but didnt get Sky Sports 2.

Dont really understand why it didnt pick it up cause thats the transponder listed in Kingofsat etc

Update: So I added the aove transponder to Euroird on 28.5 and picked up the 3 missing stations: MTV Live HD, Sky 007HD, Sky Sports 2HD.

bit conused why they dont come through on Astra 28.2 and also that I had to add the transponder to Eurobird

so anyway, job done, ut just wanted to let others know how to get Sky Sports 2 HD

    Thanks

    Iba

Same issue here with multiple TP's using the patched 1.20 software. Only way around it I could find was to add Astra 1 as a satellite and then modify the SR on its corresponding frequency or add a new TP to that satellite. I now have all the sky channels tuned in ok.

I purchased a Ferguson 250 and can pick up the uk channels but the Irish ones say 'no signal' Any tips?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,964 ✭✭✭✭Thargor

Finally got a dish mounted and everything hooked up at the parents house today, took me fecking hours. Very happy with it though, updated the firmware and sorted the channel list and its nice and fast with all the Saorview and sat channels crystal clear so thanks for the help and Tony for the kit.

One question, will the Aertel that's on it now disappear when the analogue is snitched off next week? Doesn't matter anyway, I put a proper Saorview tv in the kitchen with the new Teletext on it for them.

What size dish do you have ? A Sky Dish ?

If so you could change it to a 80cm, add a diseqc switch and another LNB and get more satellites that also have free stuff in addition to your BBCs etc. Not costly! Less than €100 anyhow.

The Ariva will do it all for you (seamless switching between satellites).

Eg. Heres a Uk & Ireland racing channel that I get on 4.8E.

All the racing UK Commentary and no adverts. Covers 6 meetings some days! And its free.

Have you/ anyone got an updated channel file for V1.2 on the 250?

Also, has anyone had any success geting mototing channels like Dave etc?

Terrestrial channels are on a different frequency in each area so its impossible to put them on a list that would work everywhere.

Currently you'll only get Dave on Sky satellite or on UK Freeview. There was talk of it moving to Freesat but nothing has ever come of it.

Thanks for that Tony. I managed to update Firmware to 1.20b via the USB and also upload the Channel list you provided. Then added the terrestial channels. However, I noticed that when I go into TP List now that the edit menu no longer comes up at the bottom of the screen. Any idea how I could fix this?

Thanks for the update re terrestrial.

Regarding favourites, I used a previous boards list that had all film channels, all news channels etc grouped into favourites.

Is your list setup like this? The reason I ask is after uploading your list all is see is all channels in three sections, Astra 2a All channels Eurobird 1 DVBT.
    There are no groups?

Get the editor and edit the list manually yourself on a pc, took me 5 minutes:

    http://www.ferguson-digital.eu/en/download/func-startdown/1493/

Check the zip file for the instructions and make sure the USB stick is formatted NTFS.

Yip, its simple to do and easy to load the file to the box via USB, if folks want a more defined list, use the chan editor, you will have the rename the favs via the box itself, the editor has probs with this bit, so create your favs via the editor and then name em when on the box and thats it, done

I bought the ferguson dongle from satworld.ie and had the same problem - good signal but constant issues connecting.

They tried to fob me off: "This wouldn't be a problem with the wifi stick, but a problem with your internet connection dropping signal. We have had some back – all tested working perfect. The problem was with their internet"

But I insisted the problem was the dongle since every other device on my network works without problem.

They agreed to a refund, and I spent my money on this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/TP-Link-TL-PA211KIT-200Mbps-Powerline-Ethernet/dp/B004INVKP4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1351087264&sr=8-1

That might be a solution so. I only paid 15euro, but I did wonder how such a tiny dongle was going to work. Should have done my research first. Thanks again.

I tested a few, if you read back, all the same spec as the so called "genuine" ones, overheat and the signal level was poor, even with the router in the same room, I did find, the ones with the aerial attached to the dongle a lot better, got steady signal levels of approx 80% and it even picked up other WIFI signals the other one didnt, it performed a lot better over the test time, am using homeplugs and cant go wrong, box connects once turned on and no issues with the connection,

EDIT page 13/14 is where we discussed dongles and homeplugs

Do you think Ill still get good signal on my 250 if I join another 25m of cable onto the 20m that's already on it if I relocate the dish? Currently 95%/95% signal quality and strenght.
