Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hey, I'm from June '17 and I'm still vetting outstanding, strangely enuf, I've lived in Oz and Nz and that vetting is clear but my local isn't and I was a reserve for 4 years. I'm told it's with my local super at the moment so hopefully they just weren't saying that and I'll make April. I done my medical last April, if I don't get it by then, will I have redo my medical/physical? I didn't realise that they expire?? I done my physical in June.

I’m June 17 too. When was the last time you were in contact with them? I’ll have to repeat aswell if I don’t get April. Nightmare

I was in contact with them last week but I have since found out since I posted here that the medical and physical don't expire for 3 years after completion. It's frustrating now though, I done my interview 14 months ago. Here's hoping for April!

Well if it’s any consolation there seems to be loads waiting from 2017 in the same situation.

I had my medical on January 15th last year and still haven’t been called, does that mean I’ll have to re-do it now at this stage? Heard they only are valid for a year...

I'm afraid you will have to re do it, have you done your PCT? If I don't get in the next class I will have to do everything over again.

If you have a holiday in the garda college forget about it, if you miss too much time you get reverted! You will get the week off at xmas time but you wont be allowed a week off, youll be too busy anyway. That will all be explained in the first couple weeks! When you get in put your head down for 32 weeks and do your best! You get leave for 2 weeks in between passing out and starting in a station, 2 reading weeks (one at xmas it its applicable)

Think they’ve push a big push on the campaigns since yours, or so they’re saying anyway! 2018 campaign feels like it’s flown so fingers crossed for ya!

Just received an email inviting me for my second physical as the first one has expired. I'm from September 2016 so anyone else in that campaign check your emails!

Rang them there, I don’t have to re do it. Have my PCT done since May 18 yeah.
I think that medical only lasting a year is a bit of a myth? Although could depend on if you’re waiting for PCT?

Vetting is out standing yeah. They required more info recently which was fairly standard I had no problem with it but it took them a year to ask me for the extra details like

What kind of details if it’s not too much of a personal question, was it stuff you were meant to have on the Form B and had left out? Our supplemental information?

Hey, Anyone know how many times in each quarter do PCTs take place before intakes? I would imagine that as the intake is in mid April (presume) there are will be plenty of invites for PCTs/ medicals between now and then

  • Registered Users Posts: 57 ✭✭twoblub

Has anyone actually rang to find out when the date for the intake is?

I’m June 17 OOM 305 and they’re saying my vetting is still outstanding and I’ve everything else completed. Anyone know the chances of it being completed by April? 😕

  • Registered Users Posts: 87 ✭✭wizardofdodge

Strictly speaking wrong thread but I'll try anyways - I've been looking at the allowances on the GRA website and came across mileage and subsistence allowances. If so, is this is something that each guard is entitled to daily or is it subject to rules? Grateful for any help on this matter.

Not to sure about allowances as a trainee ,I'd be looking into claiming something from the social anyways ,will probably get onto them within the week or so and see if I'd be entitled to any support

Sorry, was referring to fully qualified gardai

I’m in the same boat. Hoping to be cleared for April. I think it’s hard to say. I haven’t been in contact with them since last November so hoping my vetting is cleared and I just dont know it ;)

I called last week and my vetting had come back and gone for final check. Hoping to not receive that letter. Reckon offers will be the Friday before paddy’s? Induction middle of April and starting the last Monday?
Will try and get dates for induction from a buddy

These letters seem to be rare enough, I wouldn’t worry.

Is it HRM you ring to find out about the vetting?

Surely the intake will be early April as they'll want you finished up for Xmas?? I'm low 400's from June 17 but still have vetting outstanding.

Yes. 01-6662571. I actually just rang them and found out that it's from when I was a reserve is holding my application up. I resigned from it a few year ago cause I emigrated but you'd think that it's in house, it wouldn't be much of issue, a quick phone call could suffice! He said they emailed 4 months ago!
